Abstract

Abstract: This quasi-experimental study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of utilizing English songs in enhancing the English-speaking skills of Grade 2 students at SDIT AWH. The study involved 23 students who were subjected to a pretest-posttest design. The experimental group received instruction using English songs as a supplementary tool, while the control group followed the conventional teaching approach. Both groups were assessed using pertest and post-test speaking assessments. The findings revealed a significant improvement in the speaking skills of the experimental group compared to the control group. The results suggest that integrating English songs into language instruction can be an effective strategy for fostering English speaking proficiency among young learners. Implications for educators and recommendations for future research are discussed.

Abstract

This quantitative research aimed to investigate of enhancing students' vocabulary through the implementation of crossword games in an experimental study conducted at SDI Tebuireng Abdul Wahid Hasyim. The research design employed is experimental, utilizing a pre-test and post-test control group design to assess the impact of crossword games on vocabulary enhancement. The study involves 21 students, divided into two groups: the treatment group, which received weekly crossword game sessions, and the control group, which did not undergo the intervention. The results indicate a noticeable improvement in vocabulary proficiency for the treatment group as evidenced by the post-test outcomes. This research contributes valuable insights into the potential of crossword games as an effective tool for fostering vocabulary development among students.

Abstract

Abstract: Many educators started to utilize technology application activities in the classroom. Kahoot is known to be an interactive approach to conducting quizzes or tests. In this study, the author discusses using the Kahoot application in evaluating informatics engineering students learning English. A qualitative approach utilizing data by using tests and documentation by taking a sample of 15 students undergoing the Applied Bachelor in Informatics Engineering Program. The findings using Kahoot are effective as an assessment of learning English and students' scores got very good category (6 students) with 40% percent from all 15 students involved. Abstract

Abstact :       The idea of this project came up when in the real concept; the students actually still face difficulties and lack interest in mastering English, including memorizing English vocabulary. there are many same words but different pronounce This condition students create uncomfortable the use of learning media in learning will surely help these learners understand the lesson well and give back their interest . The main purpose of this final project is to make Smart Pencil case which can be used as an alternative self-learning medium in learning vocabulary. The Method was using in this final project is classified to descriptive which was animal to describe of creating of creating a smart pencil case as a learning media the resulted of this final project  a  four of  Smart  pencil case  consists  of  different themes. This media can be used in and out classes during learning-teaching process or spare time. Abstract

In the current era of development, mastery of language skills has become increasingly crucial considering that communication has become a very important aspect in modern life. This research aims to analyze good and correct language skills among regional students using a qualitative descriptive method approach. The research subjects were students from various ethnic groups in Indonesia who studied at the Indragiri Hulu Institute of Technology and Business, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews and documentation studies. Qualitative data analysis includes data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The research results show that there are still many regional students who do not have good and correct language skills. This research also examines the importance of Indonesian as a unifier of the nation, views on the essence of good and correct use of Indonesian in the campus environment, its influence and benefits for students from various ethnic backgrounds, responses to the use of regional languages on campus, factors causing pronunciation difficulties good and correct Indonesian, as well as efforts to increase the use of Indonesian in the campus environment. Keywords: Language Skills, Indonesian, Regional Students.

Abstract

This paper discusses the result of an analyzing the ability of undergraduate students about the difficulty of identifying simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence, and compound-complex sentence. A descriptive quantitative approach and a descriptive qualitative approach  are used in this study. Descriptive quantitative are used to see the student  score test in analyzing simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence, and compound-complex sentence. Descriptive qualitative are used to see the result of students interview in their difficulty of identifying simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence, and compound-complex sentence. This study shows that student average is 11.84 from 20 point, the median is 12 from 20 point, and the range is 6 (as a lower score) and 17 (as a highest score) from 20 point. Most of the students still have a difficulty in identifying the formation of simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence, and compound-complex sentence. Especially because they still don’t understand about connectors in the four types of sentences, such as subordinate connectors. Therefore students are required to practice writing in order to make it easier forming a simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence, and compound-complex sentence.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of code switching within the context of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes at the State Polytechnic of Bengkalis. Code switching, the alternation between languages or language varieties within discourse, is analyzed to understand its frequency, functions, and implications in enhancing language learning environments. The research employs qualitative methods, including classroom observations and interviews with and students. Findings reveal that code switching is a prevalent practice in ESP classrooms, serving various communicative and pedagogical purposes such as clarification, emphasis, and cultural integration. The study underscores the complex role of code switching in language education, suggesting implications for language policy and teaching strategies in similar educational settings.

Abstract

Transferring knowledge to pupils is one of a teacher's most important responsibilities when it comes to teaching. Due to its ability to assist students in overcoming the challenge of translation competence, the blank technique is perceived as one of the research's lessons. Ideas are transferred from the source language to the target language during translation, and the meaning remains the same. For students to learn through the lecture method and to comprehend the content, translation is therefore crucial to the process of learning. A qualitative method was used for this study. Then the research instruments used questionnaires and interviews. The total number of respondents is 13 English Language Education students from STAIN Bengkalis. According to the findings, the majority of students appreciate and benefit from lecturing on the teaching technique. It demonstrated that children study translation because it is enjoyable for them and makes it easier to understand words and sentences. Students who learn translation can help them organize the meaning methodically and increase their knowledge, particularly vocabulary, understanding the text's point of view, and comprehending the text's meaning. It signifies that the teaching technique used in translation class was acceptable and increased students' translation skills. While the results from the interview in this study also revealed that students enjoyed learning translation subjects in order to develop their grasp of the meaning of a text, competence in translating a text, and competence in comprehending English language.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this researcher wanted to know how English lecturers gave feedback towards student’s task in writing subject. There are two strategies that could be used in giving evaluative feedback. In writing subject, it is very important to see the written feedback that had been given by the lecturers to their college students. Thus the researcher wanted to know how the English lecturers gave written feedback to their students and which strategies they used. Based on the content feedback there are seven indicators which should be searched: focus, comparison, function, valence, clarity, specificity, and tone. The research design of this research is descriptive. This research has been done in the subject English Paragraph Writing of the first year students in the academic year 2022/2023. The sampling technique of this research is random sampling technique which are the data had been taken from three classes. The data are taken from documents which are 21 from 105 documents. The researcher found that English lecturers used evaluative and descriptive feedback strategies.  In evaluative written feedback, the lecturer gave score based on the numbering and letters from students written tasks. Then, in descriptive written feedback lecturers gave feedback based on the content of student’s written based on the indicators.  Keywords: Lecturers Feedback , Student’s Written Performance
