Abstract

Abstract: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) is widely distributed on the surface of endothelial and epithelial cells. The renin-angiotensin system in the brain has implications for various functions, including cerebral blood circulation and brain protection, stress, depression, and the aetiology of schizophrenia. ACEs and angiotensin receptors can be found on dopaminergic neurons in the basal ganglia. Elevated levels of triglycerides and cholesterol can also be found in schizophrenic patients related to treatment and duration of the course of the disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between ACE gene polymorphism and cholesterol levels in schizophrenia patients. The design of this study was observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was schizophrenia patients who sought treatment at Madani Medan Hospital with a total of 42 people. The data obtained is then processed with the ANOVA one-way test. The results of the study were obtained from 42 samples, the most types of ACE gene polymorphisms were type II (76.2%), followed by the type of DD polymorphism (19%) and the least was the type of ID polymorphism (4.8%). The average value of cholesterol levels of the sample was 235.40 mg/dl with a standard deviation value of 47.618. Statistical test results of ACE gene polymorphism with cholesterol levels with p = 0.770 (p 0.05). It can be concluded that there is no relationship between the polymorphism of the ACE gene and the cholesterol levels of schizophrenic patients.

Abstract

Abstract: Planning in medicine procurement is carried out because inefficiency can harm the smooth procurement of drugs for pharmaceutical service activities in the provision of overall health services, both medical, social and economic. Therefore, careful planning and medicine procurement management is needed. Stock-outs and stagnation that occur can also be influenced by drug storage methods that do not apply the First Expired First Out (FEFO) and First In First Out (FIFO) principles. This research aims to analyze medicine procurement planning using the FIFO and FEFO methods at the West Pasaman Regional Hospital using a descriptive research design through a qualitative approach. The results of this research conclude that the human resources, budget, facilities and infrastructure as well as procedures included in the input picture for drug procurement planning using the FIFO and FEFO methods at the West Pasaman District Hospital are under need, as are the human resources that have been met, the available budget and the facilities and infrastructure that has been fulfilled. However, several things must be evaluated regarding facilities and infrastructure, namely in the warehouse section, where the West Pasaman Regional Hospital still has a warehouse that is not conducive to procuring medicines.

Abstract

Abstract: Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder, this disorder is characterized by delusions, hallucinations, thought disorder, restlessness, strange or hostile behaviour, feeling (affect) dull or flat, interest away from social interactions, little emotional contact (quiet, difficult to talk to), passive, apathetic or indifferent, difficult to think abstractly and lose of motivation. Sleep disturbances have been assessed in various studies in patients with schizophrenia, using subjective (ie daily interviews, sleep diaries) and objective (ie, polysomnography and actigraphy) parameters. Compared with healthy controls, patients with schizophrenia exhibit longer sleep onset latency, decreased sleep efficiency, more nighttime awakenings, increased daytime dysfunction due to sleep deprivation, poorer overall sleep quality, and a higher proportion of sleep disturbances. Previous studies have suggested that poor sleep quality is associated with female gender in schizophrenic patients. This study aims to determine the difference in sleep quality of schizophrenia patients based on gender at Madani Hospital Medan, North Sumatra. This study is an analytical descriptive with a cross-sectional study approach, sampling method using a purposive sampling technique. The data of this study were obtained from primary data using questionnaire instruments and patient medical records. Data analysis using Chi-Square test. The results showed that the sleep quality of male research respondents with disturbed sleep quality was found in 18 people (51.4%), and undisturbed sleep quality was found in 17 people (48.6%). Of female research respondents, 22 people (62.9%) had disturbed sleep quality and 13 people (37.1%). The p-value was found to be 0.334 (p0.05), which means that there was no significant difference in the sleep quality of schizophrenic patients based on gender at Madani Hospital Medan, North Sumatra. There was no significant difference in the sleep quality of schizophrenic patients based on gender at Madani Hospital Medan, North Sumatra.

Abstract

Abstract: Nosocomial infections (Health Care-Associated Infections/HAIs) are infections that occur in sufferers, health workers, and also everyone who comes to the hospital. There are six types of nosocomial infections, namely: HAP/VAP infections, Phlebitis, urinary tract infections (UTI), surgical wound infections, primary bloodstream infections, and decubitus ulcers. Efforts to prevent nosocomial infections are carried out through the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program by implementing Standard Precautions in health facilities, including hospitals. One of the implementations of standard precautions is maintaining hand hygiene. This research is a type of quantitative research with a case-control design conducted at the Royal Prima Medan Hospital on IPC officers with a sample size of 50 respondents who used a questionnaire as a research instrument consisting of three types, namely: Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice adapted from the WHO Hand Hygiene Knowledge Questionnaire for Health Care Workers. Validity tests and reliability tests on the three types of questionnaires show that all questions are valid and reliable. The analysis carried out in this research included three forms, namely: univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis, using the IBM SPSS version 29 program.

Abstract

Abstract: Introduction: Cerumen Impaction is a hearing problem that most often results in decreased hearing function and ear pain. Treatment using natural ingredients is widely practised. One of them is the use of Nigella sativa Oil. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of using Nigella sativa Oil and sodium docusate as a treatment for impaction of cerumen in children at the Puteri Aisyiyah Orphanage in Medan City in vitro at 5,10,15and 30 minutes. This type of research was a eksperimental study in vitro which in practice uses a probability sampling technique, namely simple random sampling on existing groups. Significance value of 0.000(p 0.05).So it can be stated that the use of the Nigella Sativa Oil solution and the Docusate Sodium solution have different effectiveness, while this difference can be seen from the Mean ± Deviation Standard value in each group, where the Nigella Sativa Oil solution has a higher Mean ± Deviation Standard value (0.788 ± 0.144) compared to sodium docusate solution (0.145 ± 0.125). The conclusion is that the use of Nigella Sativa Oil has significant effectiveness for the treatment of impaction of cerumen and the use of Sodium Docusate does not have significant effectiveness for the treatment of impaction of cerumen in children.
