Abstract

The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence is reshaping skill demand in the labor market and creating uncertainty for young people in the education to work transition, particularly in secondary cities of emerging economies. This study examines the associations of digital literacy and adaptive skills with perceived employability through an innovative mindset. An explanatory quantitative survey was conducted with 300 young people in Jambi City, Indonesia, and the data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results show that digital literacy and adaptive skills are positively associated with both innovative mindset and employability. Innovative mindset is also positively associated with employability and serves as a complementary partial mediator. The total effect of adaptive skills on employability is larger than that of digital literacy. After measurement purification, digital literacy is retained only in its productive dimension. These findings indicate that perceived work readiness is related not only to the possession of capabilities but also to orientation toward change. Practically, work readiness programs should move beyond technical training alone toward mindset development, adaptive experience, and work relevant digital literacy. Interpretation is limited by the cross sectional design, self report data, and incomplete discriminant validity among the perceptual constructs.

Abstract

The dominance of Chinese imported fashion products through e-commerce platforms poses challenges for local MSMEs, particularly in Batam City as a Free Trade Zone. This study aims to examine the effects of product judgment, brand image, and perceived product quality on purchase intention, with price as a moderating variable. A quantitative approach was employed through a survey of 315 consumers who had purchased Chinese imported fashion products in Batam City. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that product judgment, brand image, perceived product quality, and price have positive and significant effects on purchase intention. Price emerges as the strongest direct predictor. Regarding the moderating effects, price only significantly strengthens the relationship between brand image and purchase intention, while the moderating effects on the product judgment and perceived product quality paths are not significant. These findings indicate that the role of price as a conditional variable is selective. This study provides theoretical implications for consumer behavior literature and practical implications for marketing strategies and MSME empowerment in free trade zones.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of liquidity and leverage on the profitability of industrial sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021-2024 period, and to test whether company size can moderate this relationship. Using a purposive sampling method, a sample of 96 observations was obtained. The analytical method used was panel data regression analysis with a Random Effects Model (REM) approach and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) through the E-Views program. The results showed that partially, neither liquidity nor leverage had a significant effect on company profitability. Furthermore, the MRA test results proved that company size was unable to moderate the effect of liquidity and leverage on profitability. The Adjusted R-squared value of 2.3% indicates that the ability of the independent and moderating variables to explain variations in profitability is very limited, while the remaining is influenced by other factors outside the research model.

Abstract

Machine downtime is a major problem that reduces productivity in the manufacturing industry, including packaging printing. This study aims to analyze the performance of the hot stamping machine at CV. Budi Jaya using the Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) method and to propose a preventive maintenance schedule. Time between failure (TBF) and time to repair (TTR) data for the period November 2022–October 2023 were analyzed using the Anderson-Darling test for distribution determination, followed by calculations of MTBF, MTTR, reliability, maintainability, inherent availability, and operational availability assisted by Minitab 22. Results show that the Weibull distribution was selected for TBF (θ = 853.286; β = 1.525) and TTR (θ = 7.113; β = 1.546). MTBF = 765 hours and MTTR = 7 hours. System reliability reached 80.61% at t = 312 hours, system maintainability 82.36% at t = 11 hours, inherent availability 99.09% (achieved IVARA standard ≥95%), and operational availability 90.16% (not achieved). Preventive maintenance is proposed every 312 hours of operation with a minimum repair time of 11 hours. Implementation of the RAM method can reduce downtime from 70 hours to 11 hours. The RAM method is effective for improving machine reliability and availability and supporting maintenance scheduling decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of perceived electronic word of mouth (eWOM), perceived emotional value, perceived risk, perceived quality, perceived price, and customer inspiration on purchasing decisions for Wardah products on TikTok Shop with Virtual Try-On (VTO) as a mediating variable. The study used a quantitative approach through a survey of 227 generation Z respondents in Purwokerto who were selected using a purposive sampling technique, namely users of the Virtual Try-On feature and buyers of Wardah products on TikTok Shop. Primary data were collected through a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the help of SmartPLS 4.0. The results showed that customer inspiration, perceived price, and Virtual Try-On had a significant positive effect on purchasing decisions. Conversely, perceived eWOM, perceived emotional value, perceived quality, and perceived risk did not have a direct effect on purchasing decisions. In relation to Virtual Try-On, only customer inspiration and perceived emotional value had a significant positive effect, while the other variables did not show a significant effect. Furthermore, Virtual Try-On mediated the influence of customer inspiration and perceived emotional value on purchasing decisions, but did not mediate other perceptual variables. These findings indicate that purchasing decisions in social commerce are influenced by emotional experiences, consumer inspiration, and interactive experiences based on Virtual Try-On technology.

Abstract

Carbon dioxide emissions are a strategic issue in environmental management because they are closely linked to economic activity, energy structure, demographic pressure, and the quality of human capital. This study examines the effects of GDP, population density, renewable energy consumption, and the human capital index on CO₂ emissions in Indonesia using an extended STIRPAT model. Annual time-series data for 1990–2021 are estimated with the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach, bounds testing, and an error correction model. The long-run results show that renewable energy consumption significantly reduces CO₂ emissions, while population density significantly increases them. GDP and the human capital index are statistically insignificant. In the short run, emission persistence and changes in GDP positively affect CO₂ emissions at the 5 percent significance level. A negative and significant error correction term confirms adjustment toward long-run equilibrium. Robustness checks based on the AIC and BIC criteria show that the negative effect of renewable energy remains consistent. The findings suggest that emission control in Indonesia is more effectively directed toward accelerating the energy transition and managing spatial-demographic pressure than toward aggregate economic growth or general educational improvement.

Abstract

This study estimates the regional growth function of the Special Region of Yogyakarta by treating human capital, domestic investment (PMDN), foreign direct investment (PMA), and the COVID-19 shock as determinants. It also tests beta convergence across districts and the association between output growth and food security. Panel data for five regencies/municipalities from 2018 to 2023 are examined using panel regression, a convergence test, and a growth–food security model. Human capital deepening and domestic capital accumulation raise growth significantly, whereas PMA is insignificant; the COVID-19 dummy captures a sizable contraction. The positive coefficient on initial income per capita rejects the catch-up hypothesis in the sample period. Growth is positively associated with the Food Security Index, consistent with an income-and-access channel. Thus, DIY’s economic performance is driven more by human capital and domestic investment than by FDI, but remains uneven. Policy should correct disparities in initial regional capacity so that higher output also strengthens food security.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effects of capital expenditure, investment, and labour on economic growth in Papua Province. A balanced panel of seven regencies (Mimika, Jayapura, Merauke, Nabire, Asmat, Paniai, and Keerom) covering the period 2011–2020 (N = 70) was employed. The Fixed Effect Model was selected based on the Chow and Hausman tests. The estimation results show that capital expenditure has a positive and significant effect on economic growth (β = 0.017254; p = 0.0001), labour also exerts a positive and significant influence (β = 97.56682; p = 0.0214), while investment is statistically insignificant (β = −0.020393; p = 0.5117). Jointly, the three variables significantly affect economic growth and explain 97.1% of the variation in GRDP at constant prices. The findings indicate that capital expenditure and labour absorption were the primary drivers of regency-level economic growth in Papua, whereas the benefits of investment remained largely confined to the extractive sector. Policy implications include improving capital budget realisation, directing investment toward sectors with stronger local linkages, and enhancing workforce quality.
