Abstract

Copoly(eugenol-DVB) with DVB composition of 2%, 6% and 12% had been prepared and characterized by FTIR spectroscopy. The copolymers were used as membrane carriers for the transport of phenol using the polymer inclusion membranes (PIM) based on polyvinylchloride (PVC) as membrane support. The experimental conditions for investigation of the transport of phenol through the membranes were pH of the source phase, NaOH concentration in the stripping phase, membrane thickness, phenol concentration and transport time. The results showed that the optimum condition for phenol transport was achieved on the membrane based on copoly(eugenol-DVB) 12% with the transport efficiency of 75.6% at pH of the source phase of 4.5, NaOH concentration of 0.25 M and transport time of 48 h. The reaction follows first order kinetics with mass transfer coefficient (k) of 1.02×10-5 m/s and permeability (Ps) of 8.5×10-6 m/s.

Abstract

At a few this last years, measurement concentration of dissolved inorganic nutrient is has rapidlyed grow by using various methods. But method anything applied must based on at formation of indicator end of measurement amonia, nitrite, nitrate, orthophosphate and silicate. At measurement of amonia its indicator is formation of blue indophenol, nitrite formation of pink azo, nitrate formation of yellow colored solution, orthophosphate formation of blue molybdenum, and silicate based on formation of yellows silicomolibdate. The intensity of color that is highly dependent on the concentration of each element. Measurement of amonia blue indophenol intensity perfected concentration in the range 0.206-0.396 mg/L. Measurement nitrite the formation of a pink azo easy imperfect because its low concentration. Intensity measurements nitrate solution yellow perfect concentration in the range 0.128-0.989 mg/L. Measurement of imperfect blue molybdenum intensity orthophosphate because its low concentration. While measuring the formation silicate of yellow silicomolibdate  perfect concentration on the range 10.573-26.470 mg/L. As a whole from result of measurement is obtained chemical composition of dissolved inorganic nutrient in euphotic zone the Banten bay is more predominated by silicate 97.27%, nitrate 1.84%, amonia 0.49%, orthophosphate 0.20%, and nitrite 0.18%.

Abstract

The selectivity of an active natural zeolite (ZAAH) in catalytic conversion process of Bangkirai, Kruing and Kamper woods biofuels has been studied. The ZAAH catalyst was prepared from a natural zeolite (ZA) treated with acids solution (1% HF and 6M HCI) and hydrothermal then calcined at 500 °C and oxidized at 400 °C under nitrogen and oxygen gas stream, respectively. Characterizations of the catalysts including Si/Al ratio and acidity were determined by atomic adsorption spectroscopy (AAS) and ammonia gas adsorption method, respectively. The conversion process was carried out in a flow reactor system at 400 °C, under N2 stream (20 mL/min). The biofuel was vaporized from the pyrolysis zone to the catalytic reactor. A liquid product was covered and analyzed by gas chromatograph (GC) and that connected with mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). The characterization results showed that the Si/AI ratio and acidity of the ZAAH were higher than that of the ZA catalyst. The GC-MS data showed that the highest product selectivity was 2,4-dimethyl heptane and 1,2-dimethyl benzene. The total product selectivity using the ZAAH catalyst (bangkirai = 68.10%; kruing = 54.76%; kamper = 50.72%) was higher than that of the ZA catalyst (bangkirai = 39.24%; kruing = 44.38%; kamper = 46.11%).

Abstract

Zonna pellucidae can be develop as antigen potential candidates based on reversible immunocontraceptive vaccines. Immunogenic sites of bovine zonna pellucidae 3 (bZP3) could stimulated the presence of anti-bZP3 which be located on rabbit ZP and inhibit sperm-egg interaction on fertilization process. Purpose of this research is to detect spesific binding anti-bZP3 to rabbit oocytes using dot blotting and ELISA method. Sub cutan induction of bZP3 with Freund's adjuvant, CFA (Complete Freund's Adjuvant) for initial immunization and following by IFA (Incomplete Freund's Adjuvant) at the 14th day and 39th day. Control female rabbit injected by Tris-Cl buffer diluted in Freund's adjuvant without bZP3 antigen. Rabbit serum injected to rat for producing Rat Anti Rabbit Anti-bZP3. This research concludes spesific binding of anti-bZP3 with increasing purple colour on dot blotting methods. Anti-bZP3 increasing on 24th day and 31th day and still until 48th day. Measurement with ELISA methods showed increased titer on OD405. Highest titer showed on 31th day post immunization. Anti-bZP3 synthetized by bZP3 induced on rabbit detectable by immunohistochemistry methods on late primary oocytes, early secondary oocytes, growing secondary oocytes, and oocytes on de Graaf folicular phase.

Abstract

Hydrogen bonded neutral clusters of ammonia, (NH3)n (n = 2-6), have been theoretically investigated employing the D95++(d,p) (and wherever necessary, higher) basis sets at the Hartree-Fock (HF) level as well as with second-order Møller-Plesset (MP2) perturbation theory. While the ammonia trimer and tetramer exhibit perfect molecular symmetries and are nonpolar, the pentamer and hexamer both optimize with slight deviations from perfect symmetries and are seen to posses marginal, but nonzero dipole moments. The (NH3)n linear clusters are seen to be chemically softer than the corresponding cyclic ones.

Abstract

Binuclear complex, [N(n-C4H9)4][MnIIFeIII(ox)3] (ox=oxalate), has been synthesized and characterized. Binuclear complex with formula of [N(n-C4H9)4][MnIIFeIII(ox)3] was synthesized by forming precursor K3[Fe(ox)3] which was followed by adding manganese chloride and tetrabutyl ammonium chloride. Characterization of the complex was made by microanalysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction and Magnetic Susceptibility Balance. Magnetic moment of binuclear complex [N(n-C4H9)4][MnIIFeIII(ox)3] is 7.81 BM. The compound has higher magnetic moment than the previously reported compound with different organic cation, [N(n-C5H11)4][MnIIFeIII(ox)3]. This behavior might be associated with the decreasing range among layers on polymeric network.

Abstract

Reaction kinetics for the oxidation of propane over diluted-leached MoVTeNb is described. This paper is focused on the study of products selectivity profile and determination of the orders of propane disappearance and propene formation. The result shows that selective oxidation of propane to propene over this catalyst follows the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism. The disappearance of propane is first order with respect to hydrocarbon and partial order (0.21) with respect to oxygen. The propene formation is first order with respect to hydrocarbon and not depending on oxygen concentration.

Abstract

Characterization and activation of Natural Zeolite from Ponorogo (ZAP) have been done to improve the quality of zeolite as porous material. Analysis of mineral composition is done using X-Ray Difraction (XRD), Fourier Transform-Infra Red (FTIR) Spectroscopy and metal analysis using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Characterization of the activated zeolite covered about number of acidic sites, surface area, ratio Si/Al and metal composition (Na, Ca, K and Fe). Activated processes is done using various mineral acid, i.e HCl, HNO3, H2SO4 and HPO4 with each concentration at 1 M and 3 3 hours dipping. The result showed that ZAP has composition Ca-klinoptilolit (43.09 %), gismondin (17.57 %), modernit (4.21 %) and quartz (10.37 %). The most efectif of the acid to activate is HCl and is proved to absorp of Zn in waste water. The effect of chemical activation is increasing the ratio of Si/Al, increasing the surface area and reducing some metal composition.

Abstract

There were many research on Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl. fruit for its activity as possible anticancer. However, there wasn't investigation that P. macrocarpa seed and fruit meat ethanol extract effect to normal cell. The research was conducted to identify the ethanol extract of P. macrocarpa for cytotoxic activity against mononuclear perifer normal cell of human blood. The research comprised several sections including P. macrocarpa seed and fruit meat maceration with ethanol, and the cytotoxic activity test against mononuclear normal cell. The results showed that the ethanol extract of P. macrocarpa fruit meat and seed was slightly toxic against mononuclear normal cell with the LC50 of 3817.54 μg/mL and 1349.29 μg/mL respectively. Tamoxifen and 5-fluorourasil, anticancer drugs were extremely toxic against mononuclear normal cell giving LC50 of 3.52 μg/mL and 4.05 μg/mL. The ANOVA f-test (P<0,05) showed that seed of ethanol has higher cytotoxic activity than fruit meat extract. Extract no cytotoxic activity difference between tamoxifen and 5-fluorourasil.

Abstract

(-) Z-Pinnatifidenyne, a novel C-15 acetogenin has been isolated along with the known compound (+)-3Z,6R,7R-obtusenyne and (+) (3Z)-laurenyne from the Australian red alga Chondria armata. The structures of the compounds were elucidated based on spectral data analysis including 2D NMR spectroscopic experiment.
