Abstract

The Baturraden legend, as an integral part of Indonesia's cultural heritage, contains moral and ethical teachings relevant to the values of religious moderation, such as national commitment, anti-violence, tolerance, and accommodation toward local cultures. The importance of instilling these values in the younger generation aims to shape inclusive and tolerant character. This research aims to identify and analyze the values of religious moderation within the Baturraden legend and explore opportunities for its implementation in literature education at the high school level. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with content and interpretative analysis of the narratives and characters within the legend. The results of the study indicate that the Baturraden legend contains values of religious moderation that can be utilized as teaching materials in the literature curriculum, enhancing students' understanding of cultural diversity and fostering inclusive and tolerant character.

Abstract

This article analyzes the value of friendship in Tere Liye's novel Hujan. The study employs a qualitative research method using a literary sociology approach to explore how values such as loyalty, trust, support, mutual cooperation, and affection are reflected in the interactions between characters, particularly between the protagonists Lail and Esok. The analysis is based on the plot, characterization, setting, and themes of the novel. The findings indicate that Hujan not only presents an engaging fictional narrative but also conveys exemplary moral values to its readers. The depiction of friendship in the novel emphasizes the importance of honest relationships, mutual support, and trust.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the moral values in the movie Theeb by Naji Abu Nowar, which is set in World War I in the Middle East, during the Arab uprising against the Ottoman Empire. Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire. The movie uses non-professional actors from the Bedouin community in southern Jordan. The story centers on Theeb, a young boy struggling to survive in the desert after his older brother Hussein after his older brother, Hussein, was shot dead by a tribe that was after their camel while traveling with British soldiers. while traveling with British soldiers. In this event, there are many moral values that can be learned. This research is a qualitative descriptive study this study is a qualitative descriptive study with the object of cut scenes in the movie. Analysis is done by classifying signs based on representamen, object, and interpretant. The results show various moral values such as knowledge, beliefs, arts, morals, laws, customs, abilities, and habits.

Abstract

The objective of this analysis is to thoroughly dissect the intrinsic structure of the text, which includes themes, characters and characterization, plot, setting, point of view, language style, and messages. AENG features the character Alimin, a prisoner reflecting on his life journey as he faces imminent execution. Through dense and emotional narration, the script presents profound inner turmoil, social critique, and existential irony. The methodology employed is descriptive-qualitative, utilizing structural analysis based on pure structuralism literary theories. Data is gathered through literature review of the script, supplemented by scholarly studies from literary journals. The findings indicate that AENG embodies complex humanitarian values and a robust dramatic structure, making this monologue a reflection of the moral crisis in modern society. By addressing social realities through a structural approach, AENG offers a narrative that not only resonates with the reader's inner self but also stimulates collective awareness of justice and humanitarian values.

Abstract

The Kecoa Tengah Malam script by Bode Riswandi depicts the conflict of a wife's betrayal to her paralyzed husband which results in the destruction of trust in the husband and wife relationship and inner conflict in the household. As a social reflection, this work conveys messages about morals, social, and psychology that are relevant to household life, loyalty, and the destruction caused by betrayal. The research on the Kecoa Tengah Malam script by Bode Riswandi uses a qualitative descriptive method and a pure structuralism approach. With a strong setting and structured plot, Kecoa Tengah Malam creates a sad atmosphere and betrayal that strengthens its theme. This script not only tells the story of infidelity, but also reflects how to solve a problem.

Abstract

This study is driven by the high prevalence of mental health disorders. It aims to explore the role of literary therapy through short story writing, particularly in the field of education. Using a descriptive qualitative method with Van Dijk’s cognitive discourse analysis, data were collected through observation and note-taking, involving two individuals with mental disorders from FAM Health Indonesia. The findings show that both subjects expressed emotional wounds through short story writing as a form of self-healing. Discourse analysis reveals attempts to manage stress through regular writing activities. It can be concluded that writing can serve as an effective therapeutic medium to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, while providing deeper insight into the healing process through creative literary expression. This study makes an important contribution to promoting writing activities as a means of addressing mental health challenges within educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the classification of emotions in the lyrics of the song All I Am Celebrated by Nadin Amizah. The method used by the researcher is a descriptive qualitative approach. The data in this study is in the form of words and sentences in the lyrics of the song All I Am Celebrated by Nadin Amizah. The data collection technique used to obtain data for this research is the record and listen technique. The data was analyzed based on David Krech's theory which categorized into 4 classifications of emotions, namely, (1) Basic Emotions, (2) Emotions Related to Sensory Stimulus, (3) Emotions Related to Self-Assessment, and (4) Emotions Related to Others. The results of the analysis of basic emotions included 3 data, emotions related to sensory stimulus 1 data, emotions related to self-assessment 2 data, and emotions related to others 1 data.

Abstract

Sternberg's Triangular Love theory (1986) is used to examine love's intricacy in The Great Gatsby (Fitzgerald, 1925) and Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck (Hamka, 1939). The imbalance of passion, closeness, and commitment and culture's impact on relationships are the primary issues. Comparing the three components in Western and Eastern civilizations was the goal. We employed qualitative textual analysis to analyze important quotes and storylines from both novels. Results: (1) Gatsby-Daisy has illusory desire without intimacy or actual commitment, while Zainuddin-Hayati has normative commitment and repressed passion. (2) Individualistic and communal cultures regulate the imbalance. The analysis shows that societal pressures and love imbalances cause the catastrophic conflicts in both works. This work advances Sternberg's theory in comparative literary analysis.

Abstract

The advertising of Le Minerale gallon mineral water responds to the dynamics of the advertising industry and the phenomenon of hegemonic ideology that emerges in a brand's effort to maintain its position by discrediting other brands, while demonstrating how the advertisement influences the public's perception of the brand and its products. Consequently, the aim of this research is to investigate the representation of hegemonic ideology in Le Minerale gallon television advertisements. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach, this study explores how the advertisement influences public perception of the brand and its products. Through analyses of denotative and connotative meanings in the advertisement discourse, the researcher identifies that Le Minerale highlights the safety, cleanliness, ease of use, and practical benefits of gallon-packaged drinking water as values desired by consumers. The research findings illustrate how the power of branding and marketing strategies can serve as tools to strengthen hegemonic ideology within a specific industry or market. In conclusion, Le Minerale's advertisement not only fulfills consumers' needs in terms of the product but also successfully creates an image that the brand is a desired solution for various demographics, reinforcing its position as a superior choice in the gallon-packaged drinking water category.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the physical condition and textual content of the manuscript "Ngrewangi Apa Ngrusuhi" and to identify the embedded values of social education. The manuscript, part of the Ranggawarsita Museum collection in Semarang, is written in Javanese script and modern Javanese language. This study employed a descriptive method combined with a philological approach, including inventory, description, transliteration, translation, and content analysis. The findings show that the manuscript is well-preserved with legible writing. The identified values of social education include: (1) compassion (helpfulness, kinship), (2) life harmony (honesty, sharing), and (3) responsibility (discipline, diligence). These findings contribute to the preservation of local culture and support the integration of character education in school curricula.
