Abstract

Indonesia’s independence in 1945 represented a definitive separation from colonial rule; however, its bureaucratic and legal institutions continue to mirror the vestiges of Dutch colonial governance. This paper conducts a critical examination of the enduring colonial logics that inform contemporary governance, law enforcement, and public administration. Employing a postcolonial sociological framework influenced by the works of Frantz Fanon and Syed Hussein Alatas, the study investigates historical continuities in administrative practices, hierarchical structures, and legal formalism. Through a qualitative content analysis of policy documents and legal texts, it demonstrates how state institutions perpetuate control, rigidity, and elitism, frequently alienating the public and undermining democratic ideals. Furthermore, the prioritisation of proceduralism over justice places marginalised groups at a disadvantage, thereby reinforcing structural inequities. This research posits that Indonesia’s independence remains predominantly symbolic unless these inherited colonial frameworks are actively deconstructed. It advocates for a decolonial transformation of governance that is congruent with the socio-cultural realities of the Indonesian populace. This article contributes to the development of postcolonial legal sociology by mapping the relationship between legal formalism and social exclusion in the context of Southeast Asian postcolonial states.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies, success factors, and challenges faced by the PERPAG (People's Association of Karst Gombong Rescuers) movement in rejecting the development of PT. Semen Gombong in Kebumen Regency. Social movements become agents to fight for democratic rights, justice, and forgiveness of the people from dissatisfaction with unfair treatment. PERPAG is one of the social movements in Indonesia to date that has been able to thwart the cement company's efforts to exploit limestone. The method used is qualitative research using a case study approach. The study's results show the background of the PERPAG movement with the plan of PT. Semen Gombong to explore limestone in the South Gombong Karst Landscape Area which is considered to damage the ecosystem. Then the PERPAG movement does not only use one strategy such as coercion to the relevant government, this movement elaborates several strategies in its objectives. The emergence of various inhibiting factors (internal and external) cannot be separated from the journey of the movement. Still, PERPAG's consistency has resulted in success with the unsuccessful efforts of PT. Semen Gombong to explore the limestone.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of stigma on the use of cannabis in Acehnese cuisine and its implications for the sustainability of halal tourism. The method employed is qualitative with a literature review approach, analyzing secondary data from scientific journals, books, official documents, and media articles. The primary data sources include regulations on cannabis, its historical use in cuisine, and the negative and positive impacts of stigma. The findings reveal that social stigma toward cannabis, often associated with drug abuse, poses significant challenges for Acehnese cuisine. Although historically, cannabis was used as a cooking ingredient without psychoactive effects, shifts in public perception have affected the image of Aceh's halal tourism. As a result, this stigma has the potential to reduce Muslim tourists' interest in Acehnese cuisine and negatively impact the local economic sector.. This study provides a fresh perspective on the role of stigma in hindering the potential of Acehnese cuisine in the halal tourism industry. Its scholarly contribution enriches the literature on the relationship between social stigma, traditional culinary practices, and halal tourism, which has been rarely explored in depth. Methodologically, the literature-based approach focusing on regulatory, historical, and social perception analyses offers a model that can be applied to similar issues in other regions or cultural contexts.

Abstract

This research leads to the marginalization of children with special needs  in Surakarta, Central Java. The self-development of a human being determined both genetically and in the social environment has implications for different abilities both physical and mental. In society, there are often social groups of children with special needs who are not only different but also lacking in certain aspects. This is also the case in Solo. This research doesn't just show the causes of marginalization, but also analyze it using the perspective of Rawlsian theory of justice and symbolic violence of Pierre Bourdieu. The method used is qualitative participation action research and collecting secondary data. The results showed that marginalization of children with special needs still occurs in educational environments, community environments, especially neighborhoods, even though there have been efforts to overcome it slowly. Substantial injustice mainly occurs in the provision of public facilities for children with special needs for inclusive education and environment. In addition, there are still found symbolic violence especially in families that is rarely realized and difficult to detect in the problem of marginalization of children with special needs.

Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to identify the characteristics of respondents, as well as Pearson correlation and Linearity Test to evaluate the relationship and influence of e-commerce hyperreality on consumer behavior. The results showed that private workers in Surabaya City used e-commerce more often than private workers in Dublin City. Private workers in Surabaya City have the reason that e-commerce prices are cheaper than those in offline stores. This study contributes to national and international literature by focusing on the influence of e-commerce on consumer behavior in the context of urban society. Practically, the data findings in this study can be used by the entire community to be wiser in using e-commerce, in the sense of buying goods based on needs, not because discounts and good-looking images tempt them.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how social capital operates within rural community empowerment through the Empowered Village Program in Lampung Province, Indonesia. Although community empowerment is widely promoted, existing studies often emphasize program outputs rather than examining the mechanisms through which social capital strengthens empowerment processes, leading to limited understanding of participation dynamics and long-term sustainability. Using a qualitative descriptive case study, this research collected data over a three-month period through in-depth interviews with twelve purposively selected informants involved in program planning, implementation, and community leadership. These data were supplemented by participant observation and document analysis, with validity ensured through source triangulation, method triangulation, and member checking. The findings show that strengthening four core sectors economy, education, health, and environment enhances self-reliance, local leadership, and collective action while enabling communities to address structural barriers. The study concludes that optimizing bonding and bridging social capital is essential for sustaining empowerment and ensuring program continuity, offering practical implications for inclusive rural development
