Abstract

Aloe vera (Aloe vera) is a multifunctional plant which easily found in various yards. Processed AV leaves are used as food, medicine and cosmetics, but in-depth and comprehensive studies of their bioactivity are still limited. The writing of this article is based on the study of literature in various books, the results of research published on line and off line. Aloe vera has long been used as a wound drug and a drug for diabetes mellitus. The use of Aloe vera as a wound medicine is related to its ability to inhibit the growth of microbes (bacteria and fungi). Research shows that AV extracts inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans, Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Bacteroides fragilis, Mycobacterium smegmatis, Staphylococcu aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Micrococcus luteus Bacillus sphericaus, Cholesterolus, Cholesterolus, Cholesterolus. The use of Aloe vera as a diabetes mellitus drug is related to its ability to improve the function of the pancreas in producing insulin..

Abstract

This research told about making KCl Fertilizer base coconut waste and applied to the cayenne pepper plant (Capsicum frutescens L.). Two samples used as initial experiments. The purpose of this study was to determine the initial growth of the cayenne plant (Capsicum frutescens L.) when treated with the addition of KCl fertilizer. The method used is to inculcated cayenne pepper plant seeds for three weeks and transferred in small polybags with the same soil nutrient state. Samples C0 (without KCl Fertilizer) and C1 (KCl Fertilizer Treatment). Plants are observed every week for two months. The results showed that C1 plants grew faster than C0.

Abstract

Pirdot (Saurauia vulcani Korth.) is a plant that has great potential to be developed as raw material for herbal medicines. This study aims to characterize, and phytochemical screening of  (Saurauia vulcani Korth.) leaves. Characterization carried out on the simplistic powder and ethanol extract of pirdot (Saurauia vulcani Korth.). The extraction of pirdot (Saurauia vulcani Korth.) leaves using methanol by the maceration method. Characterization of simplistic and ethanol extract carried out to determine and ensure the appropriateness of the quality standard before it was made into the preparation of a standard drug, while the phytochemical screening was an essential first step in identifying the class of bioactive compounds to direct their potential activities as raw materials in the treatment of various diseases. The simplistic and ethanol extract leaves of pirdot (Saurauia vulcani Korth.) Contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and steroids/triterpenoids and ethanol, including suitable solvents in extracting the contents of all bioactive compounds contained in leaves of  pirdot simplisia (Saurauia vulcani Korth.).

Abstract

The objectives of this research was (i) to compare physicochemical starch (amilum) such as pH, water content, ash  and sugar (Glucose) concentration of 5 varieties of bananas ( Pisang Kepok, Pisang Ambon, Pisang Barangan, Pisang Nangka dan Pisang Mas). Those are commonly consumed  in Indonesia, (ii) to analyze the correlation among the parameters.  After the starch was extracted and analyzed, the results were as fallows:  based on analysis of variance, pH varies among the bananas.  LSD (least significant defernces) test, LSD 0.05 = 0.43   concluded that pH of starch pisang ambon and  pisang barangan were higher than pH pisang kapok, pisang nangka and pisang mas.  The highest water content was at starch of pisang kapok, 4.64%,  whilist the lowest water content at starch of pisang mas, only 0.96%. The highest ash content was starch of pisang ambon, 2.60 %, whilist the lowest was at pisang mas, only 1.42%.  The highest sugar content was at starch of pisang kapok  and pisang ambon, both have 22.19 and 19.02 mg/ ml, whilist the lowest sugar content was at pisang barangan that only have 16.08 mg/ 100 ml.  Correlation among the parameters shows that thare was no correlation between pH with water, ash and sugar content.  The highest correlation accured between water content and sugar content, in which r = – 0.89 that means the more water content will be the less sugar content and vice versa. The second highest correlation accured between ash content with water content in which r = 0.76 that means the more water content will be the more ash content. The correlation between ash content and sugar content was relatively low, r = - 0.44

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim to determine the level of critical thinking of students in solving open ended mathematics problem. This type of research is qualitative. The subjects of this study were 3 students of class VIII who had been chosen purposively is students with high mathematical abilities. Data Validity Test uses triangulation techniques. Data collection techniques using critical thinking test questions. The results showed that students with high mathematical abilities reached level 3 in critical thinking.

Abstract

This research was conducted based on the development of learning tools that encourage students’ creativity and skills in solving problems and motivating students to more active in the learning process. Besides that, it needed to develop students’ character values in the learning process. The development of learning tools based on integrated character education through a problem-based learning model can give solutions to this problem. The purpose of this research is to development of science learning tools for force materials based on integrated character education problem-based learning (PBI) model. This research is R & D and uses the plomp model. The Plomp model consists of the preliminary, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The initial research phase needs analysis and contexts, literature review, and development design theory. The result of practical test based on teacher demonstrated that the score was 92.5% with the actual type. The result of students by using science learning tools shown that the cognitive category was 66%, assessment of affective nature was 72%, and the assessment of psychomotor was 95%. Based on the three types above, the average of students’ outcomes was 77.6% with the current category.

Abstract

Research has conducted which aims to find out: (1) how big is the problem-solving ability of students who taught through discovery learning model learning with students who taught through conventional models of State 3 Takalar dimSMA (2) as a whole, whether there are differences in the ability to solve physics problems between students taught with discovery learning and conventional learning models in SMA Negeri 3 Takalar (3) as a whole, is there a difference in the ability to solve physics problems for students who have high learning motivation and students who have low learning motivation in SMA Negeri 3 Takalar (4) whether there is an interaction between learning models with learning motivation towards students' physics problem-solving abilities at SMA Negeri 3 Takalar. This research is an experimental research using a 2x2 factorial design. Hypothesis testing performed at a significance level of 5% or α = 0.05. The results showed that: (1) The problem-solving ability of students taught through discovery learning models had higher average scores compared to students taught through conventional models at SMA Negeri 3 Takalar (2) Overall, where differences in ability physics problem solving between students taught with discovery learning and traditional learning models in SMA Negeri 3 Takalar (3) Overall, there are differences in the ability to solve physics problems for students who have high learning motivation and students who have low learning motivation in high school Negeri 3 Takalar (4) There is no interaction between the learning model and the motivation to learn physics to the students' physics problem-solving abilities at SMA Negeri 3 Takalar.

Abstract

The low ability of students to solve mathematical problems is one of the causes of the low student achievement in mathematics. There are many factors that cause this to happen, one of which is learning mathematics which is monotonous or lacks variation. For that, learning mathematics using IT during the teaching and learning process, in this case the Geogebra application. As one of the efforts made, of course, it is expected to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities. Therefore, this study aims to determine whether the geogebra software can improve students' mathematical problem solving skills in the SPLDV material. The sample in this study were 35 students of class X IIS 1 in SMA Negeri 1 Batang Angkola with virtual research and using a qualitative approach.

Abstract

The aims of this research were : (1) Knowing the significant differences between the spatial abilities of students taught by cooperative mind mapping learning with students taught by learning cooperative scripts, (2) Knowing the significant differences between the mathematical dispositions of students taught using cooperative mind mapping models and students. which is taught by learning cooperative Script, (3) Determining whether there is an interaction between cooperative mind mapping learning and cooperative script learning with students' spatial abilities and mathematical disposition abilities. This research is a quasi-experimental research. The population in this study consisted of all students of class XII MAN KHA Dahlan Sipirok, totaling 120 students, by taking samples of two classes totaling 34 students. Data analysis was performed using two-way ANOVA. The results of this study indicate that (1) the spatial ability of students taught by cooperative mind mapping learning is higher than students taught by cooperative script learning, (2) the mathematical disposition of students taught by cooperative mind mapping learning is higher than students taught by cooperative learning. Script, (3) There is no interaction between learning and students 'initial mathematical abilities on students' spatial abilities.

Abstract

HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill) is an skill that every student must have. Because HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill) very complex and require every student to think more than memorizing facts or concepts. The purpose of this study is to search the relationship between HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill) with analytical thinking. Where analytical thinking is one of the important thinking skills for every student. Analytical thinking make it easy for student to think logically and structured. This research is a literature study. The methodology used is collecting written material from books, journals. Articles that discuss about HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill) and analytical thinking. The result of the literature study show that analytical thinking is part of HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill). This is corresponding with the revision of Bloom’s Taxonomy by Krathwohl, analytical thinking ranks fourth in the cognitive or commonly known as C-4. In addition, indicators of analytical thinking/analyzing by Krathwohl and Anderson with the indicators of analytical thinking by Bloom have similarities. We can see when a mathematical problem type C-4 is elaborated by analyzing it, it will be seen that this indicator has same purpose in accordance with the understanding of analytical/analyzing that is breaking down the elements into smaller elemens and looking for the relationship of each of these elements. So it can be concluded that analytical thinking is HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill).
