Abstract

This research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which carried out consisting of two cycles and each cycle consisting of 1 face-to-face activity, with each face-to-face for 2 hours of lessons (2x40 minutes). Each cycle consists of 4 stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. This study aims to: 1) Describe about implementation of science learning material classification of living things in IPA subjects for students of Package B Tanjung Gundap by implementing Quantum Teaching strategies using environmental media; 2) To determined the increase in science learning achievement matter classification of living things in science subjects for students of Package B Tanjung Gundap  by applying Quantum Teaching learning strategies with environmental media. Organizing students in groups to complete assignments where in cycle I the interaction and discussion between group members was not good. But with the teacher's guidance taking turns in each group, in the second cycle the interaction and discussion could run more optimally. Student learning outcomes with quantum teaching learning strategies with environmental media obtained 70.96% in cycle I and 90.32% in cycle II.

Abstract

The increase Of life expectancy in the global population over the past few years has resulted in the transformation of demographics, from young people to hyper-aging societies, especially in developing countries. It was reported that 12.5% (901 million) of the world's population were aged 60 years and over in 2015. The emergence of chronic and degenerative diseases are associated to high costs and it was a major concern of health and research sector in the world. The current trend is to emphasize the role of diets in aging that reflect and harmonize these global concerns. The concept of the neuroprotector has been a major area of interest for neuroscientists in recent decades because of neurological disorders involving the brain, spinal cord, and nerves that connect it more frequently. Initially, the etiology of this disorder was associated with the role of free radicals, but various pathomechanisms were explained later related to different diseases. Among these disorders, dementia is classified as a major neurocognitive disorder that interferes with cognitive function (referring to memory, speech, language, judgment, reasoning, planning and other thinking abilities) and the performance of daily activities (such as making food, paying bills and traveling to shop) which is more common among parents. Gotu kola is a traditional treatment with memory enhancers and there are several studies that underlie its neuroprotective abilities. Gotu Kola has anti-oxidative properties that are beneficial for weakening oxidative stress, strong anti-inflammatory, regenerative ability of neurons, potential prevention of neuronal damage, inhibitory effects of neurotoxicity, anti-anxiety and anti-depression properties through modulation of the GABAergic system, AChE potential in inhibition and the ability to reduce the accumulation of amyloid plaques by modulating secretory enzymes. This comprehensive multifunctional nature makes Centella asiatica a common neuroprotection agent and simultaneously targets several pathways of disease to capture neurodegenerative disorders.

Abstract

Entomopathogenic fungi are bioinsecticides used to control insect pests. Entomopathogenic fungi can found in the rhizosphere area of plants. This study aims to determine the germination, sporulation, and colonization of Metarhizium spp that are found in the various horticultural plants' rhizosphere of Padangsidimpuan. Metarhizium spp used were MetCP, MetKP, MetMP, MetKPP, MetSP, MetJP, MetTP. This research conducted in the Agrotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhmmadiyah Tapanuli Selatan. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD). The results showed that the highest germination rate at 6 hours after inoculation (HAI) founded in MetKPP of 31.05%. MetKPP also had the highest germination rate of 37.43% on 24 HAI. The highest diameter growth founded in MetKP, which was 5.50 cm at 14 HAI. The highest conidia density was 1,821 x 106 conidia/ml, found in MetMP, significantly different from MetCP, which had the lowest conidia density that was 1.169 x 106 conidia/ml.

Abstract

Belawan River stores a fairly high diversity of fish, one of which is the crazy fish (Butis butis). A study of the bioecology of crazy fish has not done in Indonesia. They are considering the lack of bioecology of this fish in Indonesia. At the same time, bioecology data is needed by various parties as data and important information to know the condition of the fish population in nature. The purpose of this research is to know the population density and genital ratio of fish need keleng in Belawan River. This research is exploration. The location of fish sampling used a purposive sampling method.  Fish arrested one time each month using a fishing rod. The collected fish are taken in total length and weight and identified the type of gender. Processing data using the application program Microsoft Excel 2010. The results showed the population density of fish at Station 1 (0.91 individual/m2), Station 2 (0.92 individual/m2, and station 3 (0.35 individual/m2). Sex ratio at Station 1, male fish (66%) and female (34%), Station 2, male fish (50,60%) and females (49,40%) and Station 3, male (50,77%) and females (49,23%).

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the scientific attitude of students by applying a problem-based mathematics integrated science learning model. This type of research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method. The study population was all students of grade V SDN 0102 Sibuhuan. The sample of this research is class V A and V B. The data collection method used was to distribute scientific attitude questionnaires to all students. The results showed that the scientific attitude of students who applied the problem-based integrated mathematics learning model was better than conventional learning.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the cognitive level and the percentage of daily assessment multiple choices on worksheet Mathematics subjects in class XI semester 1 semester based on Bloom's revised Taxonomy. The number of questions analyzed is 34 questions out of 149 multiple choice questions. The cognitive level of Bloom's revised Taxonomy includes the processes of remembering (C1), understanding (C2), applying (C3), analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6). The type of research used is descriptive qualitative content analysis techniques. The data source in this study is a multiple choice daily assessment on the LKS mathematics subjects in class XI semester 1 published by PT Publit Intan Pariwara. Data collection techniques in this study is documentation. The documents used were daily assessment questions on the first semester XI high school mathematics LKS published by PT Publisher Intan Pariwara and the revised Bloom Taxonomy cognitive level. The data technique used are Miles and Hubermen model. The results of the analysis show that the cognitive level of questions in the LKS Mathematics High School subjects based on the cognitive level of understanding (C2) as many as 18 (52.94%) questions, applying (C3) as many as 12 (35.29%) questions, analyzing (C4) as many as 4 (12.12%) questions, and at the cognitive level remembering (C1), evaluating (C2), and creating (C6) there were no problems at this cognitive level. So that it can be seen that the daily assessment questions is  not fulfilled the cognitive level of Bloom Taxonomy so there is a need for training in compiling questions in the worksheet in order to cover all cognitive levels of the revised Bloom Taxonomy and the learning objectives are achieved

Abstract

Critical thinking ability is essential for the future of students, bearing in mind that it used to prepare students for the many challenges that will arise in their lives, careers, and at the level of their obligations and responsibilities. Critical thinking ability is crucial for students to master so that students are more skilled in preparing an argument, checking the credibility of a source, or making a decision. Critical thinking ability is an essential component that students must-have, especially in the process of learning mathematics. That student can create or formulate, identify, interpret, and plan problem-solving. Critical thinking is a high-level ability to think in terms of analyzing, managing strategies, evaluating, building a logical and clear argument, and drawing conclusions in solving a problem. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The purpose of this study is to describe the students' critical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems in the material of the Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV). The subjects of this study were students of class VIII (eight) who had high mathematical abilities at one of the public Junior High Schools in Purworejo. Based on the results of research and discussion, students' critical thinking ability in solving mathematics problems of junior high school students who have top mathematical skills have been able to achieve all the indicators of critical thinking.

Abstract

Acne is a skin disorder that occurs due to chronic inflammation, which is triggered by the growth of bacteria Propionibacterium acnes. The Balm plant (Polygala paniculata L.) is a small shrub originating from Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to determine the antibacterial activity of the formulation of a cream extract of the herbal ethanol extracts of the balm to the growth of bacteria Propionebacterium acnes. This research is an experimental study with five dosage formulations where the used concentration of extract consists of 0% (F1), 2% (F2), 4% (F3), 6% (F4), VitaCid as a positive control. The testing of antibacterial activity conducted by the CUP-plate technique method. Results showed that the extract of the balm plant in the preparation of cream could inhibit the growth of Propionibacterium acnes, visible with the formation of clear zones. The F1 cream preparations and F2 have stable and F3 categories, F4 has a dominant type.

Abstract

Insects are the dominant group of organisms that have many benefits for survival and belong to one class of a large group of phylum arthropods that have a strong outer covering and grooves forming body segments. Insects can be found in all regions of the earth's surface, on land, sea and air. Bird's Nest Nails (Asplenium nidus) can grow in damp areas, under trees, alongside roads or rivers and also have enormous benefits as a habitat for several insects. Insect inventory research on Bird's Nest Nails (Asplenium nidus) aims to determine the types of insects on Bird's Nest Nails (Asplenium nidus) in the Sicikeh-cikeh Lake Nature Tourism Park. The study was conducted in October to December 2019 using the Yellow Pan Trap method. Sampling was carried out as a whole at a size of 20 m x 20 m. Based on the results of the study in all locations obtained 34 families consisting of 10 orders, namely Ichneumonidae Family, Culicidae, Carcinophoridae, Gryllidae, Cercopidae, Cynipidae, Sciaridae, Stratiomydae, Erebidae, Entomobryidae, Drosophilidae, Muscidae, Staphylinidae, Coccinellidae, Braconidae, Chrysomelidae, Syrphidae, Cecidomyiidae, Elateridae, Crabronidae, Formicidae, Chironomidae, Empididae, Noctuidae, Sarcophagidae, Scarabaeidae, Agromyzidae, Carabidae, Acrididae, Calliphoridae, Tephritidae, Vespidae, Corydalidae and Crambidae. Based on the results of data analysis obtained insect diversity index worth 2.25 (medium category), while the dominant insects found in the Culicidae Family of the Diptera Order with a total of 231 taxon.

Abstract

This research is an experimental study that aims to determine the analysis of learning outcomes among students who are taught using the Cooperative Problem Based Learning (CPBL) model integrated with SMA/MA chemistry teaching materials that have been developed with student learning outcomes that are taught using the Cooperative Problem Based Learning model (CPBL) integrated with SMA/MA chemistry teaching materials at schools. The population in this study were all students of class X SMA/MA in Pekanbaru City and Kampar Regency, Riau. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The research sample consisted of 2 classes, namely the experimental class 1 taught using the integrated Cooperative Problem Based Learning (CPBL) model of SMA/MA chemistry teaching materials that had been developed and in experiment class 2 it was learned using the Cooperative Problem Based Learning (CPBL) model integrated with SMA/MA chemistry teaching materials  at school. The research instrument was an objective test of learning outcomes with a pretest and posttest design. The data analysis starts from the results of the requirements test in the form of a normality test and a homogeneity test. The results show that the data are normally distributed and have the same variance. The next data analysis technique was carried out by using the Independent Sample T-test on the SPSS 16 for windows program with a significant level of 0.05. The results showed that Ha1 was accepted at a sig. 0.000<0.05.
