Abstract

When the process of teaching physics is done conventionally, students tend to only master the concepts of physics without knowing the process of the occurrence of these concepts. Science process skills are the ability to process actions as well as scientific thought in order to develop an understanding of scientific concepts to support subsequent abilities. practicum is a supporter of the quality of education that improves student process skills, namely science process skills, with the e-module can facilitate the practicum process. This research was conducted aiming to find out the science process skills of physics education students for refracting material on the convex lens. From the results of the study. it can be seen that the results of the process skills of students' skills can be said to be good, because most students are already skilled in practicing. With the use of the Guidebook for Basic Physics II practicum in the form of e-modu can increase students' science process skills.

Abstract

Prevention of poultry diseases caused by Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi contamination such as diarrhea, usually poulterers use antibiotics, but the use of antibiotics in the ration has become controversial because it causes residues that can endanger consumers. Alternative potential substitutes for replacing the function of antibiotics are herbal plant / plant extracts that contain active plant compounds and some antioxidant, antimicrobial and immunostimulant compounds. One of the plants that can be used as an anti-microbial which is especially a local variety plant in Indonesia, especially North Sumatera, is Allium chinense G.Don is called “Bawang Batak”. Therefore, it is widely used as an antimicrobial and antifungal. Specific research topic is evaluating the antimicrobial activity of the onion extract against the inhibitory growth of pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi) with several solvents and concentrations. The aim of this study was to determine the diameter of inhibitory zones of pathogenic bacteria, including Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi with the effect of giving concentrations of batak onion extract (12.5%, 25%, 50% and 75%) and solvents of ethyl acetate, 70% ethanol and methanol. This research was carried out by the preparation of Bawang Batak Extract (Allium cinense G.Don) and the technique of data collection was Inhibition of Zone Diameter through in vitro tests. The results showed that the best treatment of interaction combination was 75% of  Bawang Batak extract with ethyl acetate treatment as an inhibitory zone against Escherichia coli bacteria, which was 20.83 mm and Salmonella typhi 20.73 mm. Based on the calculation of the polynomial equation, the more of the concentration percentage of the bawang batak  of extract with the ethyl acetate solvent added, the greater the diameter of the Escherichia coli inhibitory zone.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze students 'mathematical problem-solving abilities based on Polya's steps that could improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Sipirok. Research data obtained from the analysis of student answer sheets based on indicators of problem solving ability, observation sheets, and student activity sheets. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest posttest design. To see improvement in every aspect of problem solving ability as well as all aspects of students' mathematical problem solving abilities, an N-Gain test and a t test were performed. The main results of this study are the students 'mathematical problem solving abilities based on Polya's steps better than the students' problem solving abilities with normal learning.

Abstract

The research had done in sixth (VI) semester students of Physics Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Graha Nusantara Padangsidimpuan 2018/2019 Academic Year, the total is 20 people. Researchers applied PhET Simulation Interactive based learning by using computers with modern physics material. The type of research is Classroom Action Research that conducted in two cycles. The purpose of this study was to find out the increasing of understanding student concepts through the application of PhET-based learning media, due to the learning of Modern Physics and it was hoped that students would be able to follow the development of knowledge and technology, one of them is nanotechnology. The learning media that used in this study are Lesson Plan (RPP), Instruments, student activity observation sheets, and observation sheets of the lecturers’ ability to manage learning. Furthermore the test and activity of observation sheet were used to determine the level of students' understanding of the physics concept. The test that used is an essay test that had been tested with the reliability of the first cycle test is 0.79 and the second cycle test is 0.83 with a high level of reliability. Both tests have 5 valid questions. The conclusions of this study are (1) The use of PhET simulation-based learning media can improve the understanding of students’ physics concepts in modern physics subjects. (2) The use of PhET simulation-based learning media can improve the ability of lecturers to manage learning in PhET simulation subject at UGN Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

The need for mathematical problem solving has an important role in learning Mathematics, so the ability is needed. Based on that research is conducted which aims to analyze the problem solving of students of MTsN 3 Kuantan Singingi on the material making flat side space. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The research subjects consisted of 8 students divided into high, medium and low abilities selected from 20 students, class VIII1 MTsN 3 Kuantan Singingi in 2019/2020. The method used is a test and interview. The overall results of the study are 41% obtained from indicators that solve problems, 75% for indicators approved by the strategy, 58% for indicators that solve problems and 22% to obtain indicators that are readmitted. While the problem of mathematical problem solving ability found is not suitable with the concept of getting the right space and calculation plan to use.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low scores of students SMP Negeri 1 Ajung, Jember, East Java in science subject. Based on the results of an interview with one of the science teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Ajung, students felt difficult in understanding the lessons and completing their assignments. In the initial trial, the implementation of practicum methods in science subject showed the student enthusiasm in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to describe the learning motivation of student grade VIII C SMP Negeri 1 Ajung in science subject before and after practicum of the uniform and accelerated motion; and to describe the increase of learning motivation of student grade VIII C SMP Negeri 1 Ajung through practicum methods in the uniform and accelerated motion. This research used quantitative approach with type of pre-experimental and design of One Group Pretest-Posttest. This research was administered to 32 students and used the paired t test as hypothesis test. The motivation questionnaires, interviews, observations, and tests were used as data collection techniques. The results of hypothesis testing obtained scores of student motivation with t count of 6.01 and t table of 2.04 with a significant level of 5%. This showed a significant increase in learning motivation before and after participating in practicum activities. In addition, the increase of motivation was gained by 7.40%, it was obtained from the difference between the average posttest and pretest results.

Abstract

Learning Mathematics requires students to have mathematical communication skills. This study aims to analyze the communication skills of students on the curved side solid figure material. The type of the research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 6 highly skilled students, medium and low ability students selected from 24 students of SMP Negeri 33 Pekanbaru in 2019/2020. The used data collection technique was tests and interviews. The conclusion of the analysis of this research is the communication skills of high-ability students with students who have reached the communication skills indicator. Inhibiting factors that support highly capable students are reading and writing factors. Groups that are capable are in the moderate category while students are only able to reach indicators in defining, re-approving mathematical ideas and linking real problems to solve problems, connecting factors that support capable students who are reading, searching and understanding material. Low-ability groups are still in the poor category among students only able to achieve indicators defining and supporting mathematical ideas to solve problems, factors related to low-ability students are prerequisite knowledge factors, reading, writing and understanding material.

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental study aimed to determine the effect of Pivot off line interactive learning media on students' interest in learning physics at Pinangsori 1 High School and to know the effect of Pivot off line interactive learning media on student physics learning outcomes on business (work) and kinetic energy material in Pinangsori 1 High School. The population in this study were all students of class X MIA SMA Negeri 1 Pinangsori, which consisted of 4 classes (130 students). The sample of this study was determined by random cluster sampling, amounting to 30 people. The research instrument is learning interest. The average value of the final ability (Post-test) in the experimental class after the implementation of learning methods assisted by Pivot Animator software increased. The experimental class post-test results are (for max = 95, min = 75, dan  = 84,3), while the control class post-test results are (for max = 80, min = 60, dan  = 73,1). The initial results of the questionnaire students' interest in learning physics in the experimental class were (for max = 90, min = 60, dan  = 79,3),, while in the control class were (for max = 80, min = 50, dan  = 69,1) it can be concluded that Pivot off line interactive learning media on students' learning interest in Pinangsori 1 High School.

Abstract

The teaching material of equilibrium and rotational dynamics in this study developed using a philosophical approach. Teaching materials compiled contain elements of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. The research conducted using the research and development method through 9 stages, namely the study of potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation 1, revision stage 1, design validation 2, revision stage 2, limited trials, and final product. The feasibility test of teaching materials based on two expert validators and students' responses using a questionnaire. The results of the study indicate teaching materials included in the feasible category, with an average value of 80.83%. The results of students' responses agreed type, with an average of 79.41%. Thus it was concluded that the entire instructional content of equilibrium and rotational dynamics developed was suitable for use in learning.

Abstract

Communication skills are skills in conveying meaning in the form of ideas or information from one person to another through certain media and providing rational reasons for a statement, changing forms from verbal language into mathematical language, and illustrating mathematical ideas into descriptions. which is relevant. This study aims to describe students' communication skills with Problem Based Learning. Data collection techniques are (1) validation, (2) PBL learning, (3) pre-test and post-test of mathematics communication skills, (4) analysis of mathematics communication skills tests, and (5) observation of student activities. This research finally resulted in the identification of students' communication skills based on indicators of mathematical communication skills, namely (a) Connecting real objects, pictures and diagrams into mathematical ideas, (b) Explaining ideas, situations and mathematical relations, in writing, (c) Stating everyday events. day in language or mathematical symbols. The identification stage is clarified in the category Very good, good, enough, not enough, not very bad. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Sipirok. To identify the increase in students' mathematical communication skills in every aspect, the t test was carried out. Based on the students' answers. The results showed that the students' mathematical communication skills with Problem Based Learning increased significantly by the value of t = 3.896 while t table = 1.685 so it could be concluded that the students' mathematical communication skills with Problem Based Learning were better.
