Abstract

Understanding the Nature of science (NOS) is very important in the process of learning science in the digital era. Understanding the nature of good science is expected to minimize conceptual errors. This study aims to identify pre-service student responses and elementary school teachers related to understanding the nature of science in the digital age. The type of research conducted is quantitative descriptive with survey method. The study sample consisted of students and elementary school teachers in Sumedang. The instrument used was a questionnaire with 28 statements using a Likert scale. The results of the study stated that the response of students and teachers to the understanding of science in the digital era was in the good category with a percentage of 68.7%. Further analysis using one way ANOVA turned out to have a significant difference between students' understanding of level 3 and 5. The understanding of male and female NOS was not significantly different. While teachers who have been certified have a better average understanding than teachers who have not been certified

Abstract

Mathematical connection ability is a person's ability to connect every concept or material in mathematics with other disciplines and with everyday life. The ability of one's mathematical connection varies from person to person, this is due to mathematical learning styles and different personality types. This study aims to find out: Profile of students' mathematical connection abilities based on mathematical learning styles and personality types. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 at SMAN 19 Tangerang Regency. The type of research used is qualitative research. From this study, it can be concluded that: 1) Mastery Learning students work in stages, but are constrained by non-routine questions. Interpersonal Learning students work structurally but are constrained by non-routine questions. Understanding Learning students are constrained by problems that are not routine because they have not been able to understand the concept properly. Self-Expressive Learning students complete the connection problem using their creative ideas. 2) Guardian students can solve the connection problem because they have strong memories so they are able to remember the concepts that have been learned. Artisan students work on the problem in a hurry so that the results obtained are not right. Rational students are constrained on questions that are not routine but generally can solve all the questions well. Idealist student is constrained by non-routine questions, but in general, is able to solve problems with creative ideas.

Abstract

Tenaga pendidik merupakan unsur terdepan yang menentukan kemajuan sebuah bangsa. Tenaga pendidik yang kompeten sangat menjamin perbaikan kualitas sumber daya manusia di sebuah negara, sehingga tidak berlebihan jika mengatakan bahwa guru memang harus memiliki kompetensi yang luar biasa. Akan tetapi, kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa guru belum memiliki kompetensi yang memadai, terutama dalam hal mendesain pembelajaran, penelitian, dan juga penguasaan bahasa asing, khususnya bahasa Inggris. Perlu solusi yang cermat untuk mengatasi permasalahan kompetensi guru, beberapa diantaranya adalah dengan memperbaiki sistem kurikulum perguruan tinggi, khususnya LPTK, sehingga dapat mengakomodasi kesenjangan yang dimiliki oleh guru. Selain itu, perlu diadakan berbagai model pendidikan dan pelatihan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan para guru, serta dilaksanakan secara sistematik dan komprehensif, sehingga target yang diharapkan dapat menjadi kenyataan.

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of the study is to describe (1) the difficulties experienced by students in solving basic chemistry problems, (2) factors that cause student learning difficulties in learning basic chemistry. This research is descriptive research with qualitative and quantitative approaches. Research subjects of Mathematics Education Study Program students who attend odd semester 2018/2019 basic chemistry lectures. The selection of sample classes uses purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out by carrying out a question-based test in the form of descriptions and non-tests in the form of questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that the absorption of students for limiting reagents was 56.95%, calculation of acid base ph was 60.5%, identification of base acids 59.55%, colloids 64.1%, naming hydrocarbon compounds 64.9%, and writing structures ahaidrocarbon compounds 67.35%. Factors that cause learning difficulties consist of interest, motivation, concentration, study habits, intelligence. Student interest is 40%, motivation is 24%, concentration 36%, study habits 32%, and intelligence 28%

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using POE-based worksheets on student’s learning outcomes of physics in the material of impulses and momentum at SMAN 5 Bandar Lampung. The research population was all students of class X MIA. The design of this study uses True Experimental Design with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design type. The research sample in this study was class X MIA1 and X MIA2 with relatively similar initial abilities so that the Simple Purposive Sampling technique was used. The independent sample t-test results showed a significance value of 0,000 for cognitive, psychomotor learning outcomes through questions and through practical performance so that the use of POE-based worksheets on impulses and momentum material had a significant effect on student learning outcomes. The magnitude of the effect obtained from the results of the effect size test (Cohen d) is 2,18 for the cognitive domain; 1,34 and 1,21 for the psychomotor domain (high category). This means that the use of POE-based worksheet in this study has a large effect on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The teacher has an important role in efforts to achieve the learning objectives of the students. In an effort to achieve the learning objectives, the teacher must prepare learning plans that refer to the content standards and learning objectives in each subject. How important is a mathematical learning plan, so that prospective mathematics teachers need to be equipped with the ability to arrange learning tools during lectures. To encourage the skills of prospective teachers in compiling learning tools, one alternative is to integrate TIK. The development of Wordpress Content Management System (CMS) as a learning media is expected to be a learning resource that can be accessed by prospective mathematics teacher students without limited space and time in developing mathematics learning tools which include annual programs, semester programs, syllabus, Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), Student Worksheets (LKS), with the aim of producing a product in the form of learning media that utilizes WordPress Content Management System (CMS) with mathematical learning device content. The research method used is Research and Development (R & D). The research procedure includes seven steps, namely: potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, product testing, and product revision. The instruments used were questionnaires, namely questionnaires for material experts, for media experts, and questionnaires used for limited testing to prospective mathematics teachers in this case students in the mathematics education department at Untirta. the results of the assessment of experts and respondents is equal to 83,8%, meaning that they have met the indicators of success of the products developed.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is knowing the influence of the style and the readiness to learn toward understanding the concept of mathematics in grade VIII at State of junior high school in Sub. Rayon 01 District Cimanggis - Depok. The method will be used in this research is expose facto method with ANOVA two direction, with the number of samples as much as 162 people, taken using a simple random sampling. The instruments are used is instruments charging inquiries consisting of 30 statement style of the learning, 25 statement readiness to learn and 5 about the understanding of the concept of mathematics. From this research can be taken the conclusion that: (1) There is no significant influence about style toward Understanding the concept of Mathematics, (2) There is no significant influence about style toward Understanding the concept of Mathematics, (3) There is no significant influence the interaction style and readiness to learn toward understanding of concept of Mathematics. The implications of this research are the method of learning kinesthetically with the high readiness to learn which gives more dominant contributes compared to the method of learning visual and auditorial with the readiness to learn high or low toward understanding the concept of mathematics.

Abstract

This activity examines students who have a variety of learning styles in conventional learning compared to snowball throwing learning in mathematics. This research was conducted with a quasi-experimental design. The population is students 2nd junior high school. The sample is determined by a random sampling technique. Learning styles observed is Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic. Data were analyzed using ANOVA two unequal cell lines. the post ANOVA test using the Scheffe test. Student learning outcomes with snowball throwing are better. Student learning styles have an influence on learning achievement. Interaction occurs between learning models and student learning styles. Students with kinesthetic learning styles have achievements that are as good as students with two other learning styles in snowball throwing learning. Using questions and discussions during the learning process in snowball throwing can bring up a variety of spectrum of learning styles that students need in the learning process

Abstract

Teaching science should emphasize the provision of real experiences for students to develop their competence so that their ability in learning can be improved. The aim of this study was to evaluate the improvement of students’ learning result after the development of the teaching materials. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4D model. The data were collected through test and validation analysis. The findings show that after teaching implementing the developed material, there were no students in the low category, students in the medium level were 11 (35,48%) only, while the majority of them (20 students) which were 64,52% were categorized into the high level. Besides that, referring to the descriptive analysis of mean scores obtained by students, their achievement was regarded to be better than before (87,06). In terms of the improvement in students’ learning results, after they were taught using the media which was developed in this study, students experienced improvement as the t-test showed the tcount = 50,160 > t table= 2,042 with the significance level of 0,000. Based on that results, the development of teaching material does support the learning activities in the classroom. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of teaching material brings an impact on the improvement of students’ learning results so that they can understand the materials better. This current study gives insight to the learners about the importance to develop teaching media for learning Physics.

Abstract

The research aims to produce a learning model that is expected to be easy, effective and practically applied in the learning process. The model developed is the JINEMAM model which is a combination of the Jigsaw, Example Non Example and Make a Match model. This research in its development process uses the 4D development model from thiagarajan namely Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. The instruments used were validation sheets, legibility questionnaires and pretest-posttest questions. For product trials and legibility using 32 students of the 2014 Biology study program. The results of the data analysis showed that the learning model was very valid. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that the learning model is feasible to be used in the learning process.
