Abstract

The phenomenon of “pick me girl” behavior among adolescent girls has become increasingly visible in school settings and social interactions, potentially affecting peer relationships and students’ social adjustment. This study aimed to explore the characteristics, underlying factors, and impacts of pick me girl behavior among female students at the senior high school level. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation involving guidance and counseling teachers as well as students selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of data analysis, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data credibility was ensured through source triangulation. The findings indicate that pick me girl behavior is reflected in various forms of attention-seeking toward male peers, self-comparison with other female students, and the desire to gain recognition and validation. The behavior is influenced by internal factors, such as low self-esteem and the need for social acceptance, as well as external factors, including peer interactions, social environment, and exposure to social media. Furthermore, this behavior may lead to interpersonal conflicts, negative peer perceptions, and difficulties in establishing healthy social relationships. The findings highlight the importance of preventive and developmental guidance and counseling services to strengthen students’ self-confidence, self-acceptance, and positive social interactions in the school environment.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the fact that students’ mathematical problem-solving skills remain low. Therefore, appropriate alternative teaching methods are needed to improve these skills. One such method is the application of an experiential learning model supported by ethnomathematics. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of an experiential learning model supported by ethnomathematics on students’ mathematical problem-solving skills. This study employed a quantitative, quasi-experimental design. The study population consisted of all eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Kibin, with the sample comprising Class VIII D (the experimental class) with 32 students and Class VIII E (the control class) with 31 students. Instruction in the experimental class utilized the experiential learning model supported by ethnomathematics, while the control class used the expository model. Research data were collected using a mathematical problem-solving ability test. The results of the independent samples t-test showed a Sig. value of 0.004 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference in final mathematical problem-solving ability between the two classes. Further evidence was obtained from the results of the Mann-Whitney test on the N-gain data, which showed a Sig. value of 0.045 < 0.05. This indicates that the improvement in mathematical problem-solving skills among students using the experiential learning model supported by ethnomathematics was greater than that of students using the expository model. Thus, the experiential learning model supported by ethnomathematics has a significant effect on students’ mathematical problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This classroom action research was motivated by the low skills of writing pantun among fifth-grade students of SDN Sukun 3. Initial observations showed that most students had difficulty in determining themes, composing interrelated rhymes and content, using appropriate rhymes, and choosing appropriate diction, resulting in pantuns that did not meet the rules of pantun. In addition, the learning process, which was still dominated by conventional methods, resulted in suboptimal student participation and motivation. This study aimed to improve fifth-grade students' pantun writing skills through the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by pantun flash cards. This study used the Kemmis and McTaggart Classroom Action Research approach, which was implemented in two cycles, with each cycle including planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 28 fifth-grade students of SDN Sukun 3. Data collection techniques included pantun writing skills tests, observations of teacher and student activities, documentation, and field notes. Data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques to determine improvements in student learning outcomes and activities in each cycle. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by pantun flash cards is effective in improving the pantun writing skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Sukun 3. This learning model is able to create an active, fun, competitive, and collaborative learning atmosphere so that it can be used as an alternative for learning Indonesian in pantun writing material in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of online buying and selling transactions on the existence of traditional markets, with a focus on local traders as the most affected parties, both as opportunities and threats. The method used is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach through content analysis techniques of various relevant literature. The results show that the development of e-commerce drives changes in consumer behavior toward faster, more efficient, and practical digital transactions, thereby increasing competition and reducing the intensity of visits to traditional markets. This condition leads to a decline in the turnover of small traders, especially in non-food commodities. On the other hand, digitalization also opens opportunities for market expansion, business efficiency, and the transformation of local traders’ business models through digital platforms. In the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh muamalah), this phenomenon must be directed toward public welfare and must not cause harm in accordance with the principle of la darar wa la dirar, thus requiring a balance between digital innovation and the protection of traditional traders.

Abstract

The ability to present and analyze data is a crucial competency in elementary school mathematics, particulary regarding bar charts. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive quantitative design, involving 27 fifth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through assessments of student worksheets (LKPD), a bar chart evaluation test, and observation sheets tracking student activity during lesson. Research instruments included rubrics for data presentation and analysis skills, evaluation questions, and student activity observation sheets. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, specifically mean scores, learning mastery percentages, and student activity percentages. The result indicate that contextual learning supported by PAMADI media effectively fosters data presentation and analysis skills among fifth-grade students. This approach has the potential to help students understand data as information derived from real-life situations within the school environment—specifically through activities such as data collection, tallying, creating bar charts, and drawing simple conclusions from the data. These findings are expected to offer an alternative approach to mathematics instruction that is more concrete, contextual, and focused on developing data literacy among elementary school students.
