Abstract

Science learning emphasizes not only conceptual understanding but also the development of science process skills (SPS). However, limited laboratory facilities and conventional teaching methods often hinder the optimal development of students’ SPS, especially in abstract topics such as temperature and heat. This study aimed to improve students’ science process skills through the implementation of PhET simulation media on temperature and heat materials. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 5 Pamekasan during the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, involving 30 seventh-grade students as research subjects. Data collection techniques included science process skills tests, learning implementation observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. Research instruments consisted of pretest–posttest questions, observation sheets, and Likert-scale questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using normalized gain (N-gain) analysis and descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that the implementation of PhET simulation media effectively improved students’ science process skills on temperature and heat materials, with a moderate to high category of improvement. In addition, students provided positive responses toward the use of PhET simulations in learning activities. It can be concluded that PhET simulation media is effective as an alternative learning media to enhance science process skills. Therefore, teachers are recommended to integrate PhET simulations into science learning to support active and meaningful learning experiences

Abstract

The current state of junior high school students' scientific writing skills and learning outcomes is still low due to the dominance of teacher-oriented learning models. This study aims to examine the effect of a guided inquiry learning model with cognitive scaffolding on junior high school students' scientific writing skills and learning outcomes in science learning. The approach used was quantitative with a quasi-experimental method and a non-equivalent posttest-only control group design. Purposive sampling was used to select samples, including two classes: the experimental class and the control class. Data analysis was carried out through three test phases: normality testing, homogeneity testing, and hypothesis testing. The data showed that the experimental class obtained a higher average score than the control class. This is evidenced by a significance value of 0.000, which is smaller than the 0.05 threshold, indicating that the implementation of a guided inquiry learning model with cognitive scaffolding has a significant effect on students' scientific writing skills and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Indonesia’s energy security faces structural challenges due to the dominance of coal in the national energy mix, leading to sustainability risks and increased greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve the 23% renewable energy target by 2025, the government promotes biomass utilization through co-firing in coal-fired power plants. However, its implementation remains constrained by limited sustainable biomass supply and inefficient supply chain systems. This study aims to formulate an optimal allocation strategy for woodchip production in Java as a primary biomass source to support co-firing implementation. The methodology integrates spatial analysis using the Center of Gravity approach and SWOT analysis to develop an integrated development strategy. Key indicators include biomass availability, transportation accessibility, proximity to demand centers, and policy support. The results indicate that Java has a biomass residue potential of 143.58 million tons annually, yet faces a significant land gap of 189,849 hectares for energy plantations. Supply chain optimization reduces delivery time by up to 44% and logistics costs by 38%, with an optimal distribution radius of 80 km serving 16 coal-fired power plants with a total capacity of 14,645 MW. The proposed integrated strategy includes capacity expansion, land intensification, feedstock diversification, and supply chain efficiency through multi-stakeholder collaboration. Overall, the strategy ensures a sustainable biomass supply of 10.2 million tons by 2025 without additional deforestation. The integration of woodchip in co-firing contributes to a 15% reduction in CO₂ emissions and improved plant efficiency, thereby accelerating energy transition, strengthening energy security, and supporting Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission 2060 target.

Abstract

The low level of students' science process skills in learning is still a common problem, especially due to the implementation of learning models that have not fully involved students actively in the scientific process. This study aims to analyze the effect of the use of the SSCS (Search, Solve, Create and Share) learning model on students' science process skills using a quasi-experimental research method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. The subjects of the study were students in classes consisting of class VII A as the experimental class and class VII F as the control class, with 30 students each. The research instruments consisted of a science process skills test, a science process skills observation sheet, an observation sheet on the implementation of the learning model, and a student response questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests using Independent Sample t-tests through IBM SPSS Statistics 26 software. The results showed that there was an increase in students' science process skills in the experimental class using the SSCS learning model with an average post-test score of 77.33 compared to the control class with an average post-test score of 61.66. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), thus rejecting H0 and accepting H1. This indicates a significant effect of the SSCS learning model on improving students' science process skills. Furthermore, the results of the student questionnaire showed a positive response rate of 79.57%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of the SSCS (Search, Solve, Create, and Share) model is effective in improving students' science process skills.

Abstract

Generic science skills are considered as one of the skills that are considered to be required by students in this century because with these skills the learning process can be more meaningful and students can learn through their own experiences. However, currently generic science skills in one of the schools in Banten have not been achieved due to several factors, namely the teaching materials and learning strategies used in the learning process have not supported the development of students' generic science skills. Based on these problems, an e-booklet teaching material based on CCE (Cooperative Class Experiment) Group Investigation type was developed which was designed to develop junior high school students' generic science skills. The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of product validation and to determine students' responses to the developed teaching materials. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) but limited only to the Implementation stage on a small scale to determine students' responses. The results of this study indicate that the CCE (Cooperative Class Experiment) Group Investigation-based e-booklet obtained a percentage of 88.20% which is categorized as "Very Valid" including the validation results of teaching material experts, material experts and practitioners. Then, after going through a revision process from the experts, the product was tested on students on a small scale and obtained a percentage of 84.23% with the "Very Valid" category. Thus, the CCE (Cooperative Class Experiment) Group Investigation-based e-booklet is declared suitable for use as teaching material.

Abstract

Fluctuating prices and increasing supply chain complexity are major challenges in the development of livestock agribusiness. These conditions encourage the adoption of contract-based marketing mechanisms, particularly forward contracts, as efforts to manage risk and strengthen coordination among supply chain actors while increasing farmers’ income. This study aims to systematically examine the role of forward contracts in risk management and supply chain coordination in livestock agribusiness. The research method employed is a Systematic Literature Review following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Scientific articles were collected from the Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Google Scholar, and Garuda databases using relevant keywords. Article selection was conducted based on inclusion and exclusion criteria applied to peer-reviewed journal publications published between 2014 and 2024. The selected articles were analyzed using a qualitative thematic synthesis approach. The findings indicate that forward contracts play a significant role in reducing price uncertainty, improving the stability of farmers’ income, and enhancing market access. In addition, forward contracts contribute to improved supply chain coordination through the strengthening of vertical relationships, supply certainty, and information exchange among business actors. However, the effectiveness of forward contracts is highly influenced by farmers’ bargaining power, institutional support, and contract design. This study concludes that forward contracts are a potential instrument for supporting the sustainability of livestock agribusiness, but they require appropriate regulation and facilitation to ensure that the benefits are distributed more equitably among livestock farmers.

Abstract

Science textbooks used as the primary learning resource should contain questions that stimulate curiosity and enhance students' thinking processes. Creative and critical thinking skills are essential skills in the 21st century. There are various types of questions, but the effectiveness of these questions in supporting learning success remains understudied. To determine the distribution of these questions, a classification using the Question Category System for Science (QCSS) can be used. This study aims to analyze the distribution and comparison of questions developed in independent curriculum science textbooks on the topic of substances and their changes based on the QCSS. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method with a content analysis design. The data collection technique used is a document content review. The data analysis technique uses a model developed by Miles and Hubermen (1992). The results show that the questions developed in science textbook A consist of 16.36% cognitive memory questions, 52.72% convergent thinking questions, 27.28% divergent thinking questions, and 3.63% evaluative thinking questions. Furthermore, Science textbook B consists of 38.36% cognitive memory questions, 49.31% convergent thinking questions and 20.54% divergent thinking questions. Then, Science textbook C consists of 44.95% cognitive memory questions, 38.20% convergent thinking questions and 6.85% divergent thinking questions. Cognitive memory and convergent thinking questions are closed questions while divergent thinking and evaluative thinking questions are open questions. The conclusion is that the three books are dominated by closed questions and from the aspect of question distribution, Science textbook A and Science textbook B are only able to train students' critical thinking skills.
