Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the process and form of self-acceptance of the main character in the novel Yang Katana Cemara by Vania Winola through the conflict he experiences. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literary psychology approach based on Carl Rogers' theory. The data source is the novel Yang Katanya Cemara (2023), with data collection techniques through literature study. The research results show that the conflict experienced by the main character originates from family dynamics and changes in family structure which affect his emotional condition, such as anxiety, sadness and insecurity. The process of self-acceptance takes place in stages, starting from the formation of a self-concept, the emergence of a discrepancy between the ideal self and the real self, until positive regard is obtained from the immediate environment. The forms of self-acceptance achieved include emotional acceptance, real self-acceptance, and processual acceptance. In the end, the main character is able to accept his family's condition, reduce the tendency to blame himself, and have emotional stability and a more positive self-view. This research concludes that self-acceptance is formed through a gradual process that is influenced by emotional experiences and environmental support, so that family dynamics play an important role in the character's psychological development.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the performance of writing drama scripts based on Bengkulu folklore among Grade XI students at SMAN 3 Bengkulu Tengah. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects were 32 students of Grade XI.8. The data sources included students’ drama scripts, non-participant observation results, and documentation. Data were collected through observation and documentation, while data analysis employed an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that the students’ creative process developed through the stages of understanding the stimulus, developing ideas, and composing drama scripts. The use of Bengkulu folklore as a stimulus encouraged students’ engagement and creativity in transforming stories into dramatic dialogue. The performance analysis showed that the aspects of content and transformation, drama text structure, and intrinsic elements were generally well demonstrated. However, the aspects of language conventions and writing mechanics remained limited, particularly in the use of dialogue format, stage directions, capitalization, punctuation, and consistency in writing. Overall, the students demonstrated the ability to develop ideas and transform folklore into drama scripts, although this ability was not fully accompanied by mastery of the technical aspects of writing. These findings imply the need for drama-writing instruction that provides balanced attention to creative development, structural understanding, and mastery of language conventions and writing mechanics. Thus, Bengkulu folklore can be utilized as a contextual stimulus to support students’ creative processes while strengthening drama-writing instruction.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the importance of implementing popular scientific article writing instruction using a project-based learning model to improve students’ writing skills in accordance with the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aimed to describe the implementation of popular scientific article writing instruction using a project-based learning model for eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 22 Kota Bengkulu. This study employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study were teachers and students. Data were collected through observation and documentation, while data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the learning implementation consisted of preliminary, core, and closing activities. The preliminary activities included greetings, apperception, motivation, and delivery of learning objectives. The core activities were carried out through the stages of project-based learning, namely posing an essential question, planning the project through group formation and determining the topic of the popular scientific article, scheduling, monitoring project progress, assessing the results, and evaluating the learning experience. During the monitoring stage, students developed article drafts collaboratively under the teacher’s guidance and subsequently presented their project results. The closing activities consisted of summarizing the lesson, providing feedback, reflection, and follow-up activities. The project-based learning model provided students with opportunities to participate directly in determining topics, gathering information, developing written work, collaborating with group members, and presenting their project results. The teacher acted as a facilitator by providing guidance and assistance throughout the learning process. Overall, the learning implementation was carried out well, although project scheduling and student involvement in several stages still need to be improved.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the physical and inner structures of poems written by Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Bengkulu City during the 2025/2026 academic year. A descriptive-qualitative method was employed. The research data consisted of 92 student-authored poems collected through documentation techniques. The research instrument was an analysis sheet based on the theory of poetic physical and inner structures. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, comprising data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that all student poems contain elements of both physical and inner structures. Regarding physical structure, all students utilized connotative diction. Imagery included visual, auditory, and kinetic forms with visual imagery predominating while the stylistic devices employed encompassed comparison, contrast, and repetition, with comparison (specifically personification) being the most dominant. Rhyme patterns included assonance and free verse, with free verse (lacking a fixed sound pattern) being the most frequently used; typography included left-aligned, center-aligned, and zigzag styles, with left-alignment predominating. Concerning inner structure, the themes addressed included life, romance, family, nature, friendship, religion, and social issues, with the theme of life being the most dominant. Expressed emotions included happiness, longing, sympathy, and anger, with happiness being the most dominant. Poetic tones included storytelling, advisory, and inspirational, with the storytelling tone being the most common; the atmospheres evoked included sympathy and emotional resonance, with emotional resonance predominating. The messages conveyed in the poems generally emphasized the importance of persistence, self-confidence, valuing family, accepting loss with grace, maintaining interpersonal relationships, and respecting and preserving the environment. Thus, the student's poem demonstrates the application of the elements that constitute a poem encompassing both its physical and inner structures.
