Abstract

Reading skills are a fundamental ability essential to the learning process in elementary school, yet many students still struggle to understand reading passages due to low interest and concentration. This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, and improvement of fourth-grade students’ reading skills through the application of the audio-visual–based SQ3R method at SDN 003 Padang Sawah Kampar. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 28 fourth-grade students and their teacher, using instruments such as teacher observation sheets, student observation sheets, and reading skill tests. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ reading skills from cycle I to cycle II, in which teacher activity increased from the “adequate” category to “very good,” student activity increased from “moderately active” to “highly active,” and classical mastery reached 82.14%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the audio-visual based SQ3R method is effective in improving elementary school students’ reading skills.

Abstract

Honor killing within the Bugis-Makassar community cannot be fully understood through the lens of positive criminal law, as it is grounded in the normative system of siri’, which holds strong social legitimacy. This study addresses a gap in existing literature that overlooks local value systems as a source of normative justification for violence. It employs a qualitative method with a conceptual approach, using library research to explore siri’ as a regulatory structure. The findings reveal that siri’ positions collective honor above individual life, institutionalizing violence as a corrective obligation. The key contribution of this study is the introduction of cultural criminology as an alternative analytical framework to interpret violence legitimized by customary norms. These findings underscore the urgency of reforming criminal law to account for value pluralism within a legally plural society.

Abstract

The rapid growth of popular culture presents both challenges and opportunities for churches to conduct worship that remains relevant in the contemporary context. The gap between rigid traditional practices and modern life shaped by popular culture requires churches to find effective ways to communicate faith values. This study analyzes the relationship between worship theology and popular culture and explores how popular culture can strengthen faith without compromising spiritual depth. Using a qualitative, phenomenological-descriptive approach, the research examines the experiences, perceptions, and worship practices of congregations influenced by popular culture. Data were analyzed by identifying key themes and the relationships between worship theology elements—such as meaning, purpose, motivation, and liturgy—and the phenomenon of popular culture. The findings reveal that popular culture serves as a significant bridge between spirituality and modern life, fostering more contextual, interactive, and reflective expressions of faith. Elements such as contemporary music, digital media, and films function as effective means of theological communication and dialogue with daily life. However, churches must manage their use theologically to balance cultural relevance and spiritual depth. Thus, integrating popular culture into worship encourages the development of more inclusive, reflective, and meaningful worship experiences within the dynamics of modern society.

Abstract

Infectious animal diseases are increasingly exhibiting complex and transboundary patterns of spread, potentially disrupting food security, the economy, and public health. This study aims to identify and analyze the potential threats of infectious animal diseases to national resilience. The method used is a descriptive qualitative literature study through a review of scientific literature, policy documents, and reports from national and international institutions to map the relationship between the dynamics of infectious animal diseases and the pillars of national resilience. The results show that disease outbreaks such as foot-and-mouth disease, avian influenza, rabies, and tuberculosis have a significant impact on livestock productivity, the food supply chain, community social behavior, and the burden on the health system. Significant economic losses, increased zoonotic risks, and disruptions to socio-economic stability demonstrate that infectious animal diseases pose a multidimensional threat to food security, economic security, social security, and national security. These findings emphasize the need for a One Health-based mitigation strategy through strengthening integrated surveillance, increasing laboratory capacity, implementing biosecurity, adapting outbreak responses, and optimizing vaccination. This study contributes to strengthening national resilience policies by emphasizing the importance of cross-sectoral coordination in preventing and controlling infectious animal diseases as part of national biosecurity and stability.

Abstract

Indonesia's agricultural sector faces a regeneration crisis due to the negative stigma that farming is dirty and unpromising. Sekolah Tani Muda (Sektimuda) responds to this by utilizing Instagram to deconstruct this image. This study aims to analyze Sektimuda's digital Public Relations strategy in constructing the identity of young farmers using the R-A-C-E (Research, Action, Communication, Evaluation) model. Using a qualitative case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with social media managers and content observation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that Sektimuda implements an adaptive strategy where the Research and Action phases focus on mapping stigma to position Instagram as a narrative battlefield. In the Communication phase, rather than centralized aesthetics, Sektimuda employs a spirit of equality through communal visuals and ideological narratives regarding independence and systemic awareness, rather than just technical farming. The Evaluation phase confirms that vanity metrics (likes/views) are disregarded in favor of the primary KPI of real participation (class registrants), with audience feedback serving as a mechanism for content improvement. It is concluded that Sektimuda's digital PR strategy successfully reconstructs the farmer identity from physical laborers to politically conscious intellectual subjects. This implies that youth organizations can effectively build image and public participation by prioritizing authentic ideological messages and dialogic interaction over mere visual aesthetics.

Abstract

This study analyzes collaborative governance in the Patriot Desa Program by examining how multi-actor collaboration works at the village level, particularly in villages with stagnant Village Development Index (IDM) scores such as Situhiang. The research addresses the paradox between IDM improvement and weak institutionalized collaboration in assisted villages. The study aims to describe the dynamics of collaborative governance in planning and implementing the program at village level and to identify factors that limit the effectiveness and sustainability of collaboration. A qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design was employed through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observation of provincial government actors, Patriot Desa officers, village governments, and local community leaders, using the Collaborative Governance Regime framework as an analytical lens. Findings show that collaboration opens participatory spaces and builds shared motivation at the grassroots, yet agenda setting and strategic decisions remain dominated by bureaucratic actors. Joint action capacity grows through the strengthening of local champions and initiatives based on village potentials, but resource asymmetries, actor rotation, and program cycles make collaboration largely project-based and hinder its transformation into an institutionalized governance regime. The study concludes that collaborative governance in the village context tends to take the form of an administrative collaboration regime, in which institutional trust, adaptive learning, and cross-actor policy integration are still limited. The research offers novelty by presenting a village-level perspective on how collaborative governance operates and encounters structural limits, while pointing to the need for stronger institutional design, more balanced role distribution, and post-program sustainability strategies.

Abstract

Communication transformation requires agencies, including the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan RI), to maximize the use of their official websites as communication channels, especially in the context of media relations. Kemhan has unique information characteristics, namely high information sensitivity that requires a balance between transparency and information security. This study aims to analyze the Ministry of Defense's digital communication strategy in carrying out its media relations function. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques of observation and interviews, as well as Miles and Huberman's data analysis technique with the help of the Nvivo 12 application. This study uses Frank Jefkins' Digital Communication and Media Relations theory. The findings of this study indicate that the Ministry of Defense utilizes both platforms as its main communication channels, with the website serving as a source of accurate official information, while social media functions as a means of disseminating interactive and wide-ranging content. This strategy is supported by the provision of accurate information, timely content adjustments, and collaboration to serve the needs of the media in line with Frank Jefkins' media relations theory. This study presents a novelty in examining the media relations practices of the Ministry of Defense, which has high information sensitivity, a new perspective from the literature dominated by other agencies that do not have limitations on public information.

Abstract

Collaborative skills are an essential competency that needs to be developed in Social Studies (IPS) learning; however, in practice, some students are still unable to work together optimally during group activities. This study aims to identify the collaborative skills of fourth-grade students at SD 005 Selunak as demonstrated during the IPS learning process. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through interview sheets, observation sheets, and documentation review. The subjects of this study were the fourth-grade teacher and students of SD 005 Selunak. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles & Huberman model, which consists of three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that students’ collaborative skills have begun to develop through group activities, as indicated by active interactions among group members, relatively clear task distribution, attempts to resolve minor conflicts, shared decision-making, and attitudes of mutual support and respect. Nevertheless, some students still require guidance to participate more actively and assume roles more proportionately. In conclusion, students’ collaborative skills are evident in IPS learning, but they still need to be strengthened through continuous practice, teacher guidance, and more structured activity design.

Abstract

Youth political participation in Indonesia is characterized by strong demographic weight but weak involvement in party organizations, creating a gap between electoral participation and organizational engagement. This study analyzes the NasDem Party’s strategy to promote non-formal political participation among young people through the NasDem Muda and Remaja Bernegara (RBN) programs. Using a descriptive qualitative approach that combines literature review, documentation, interviews, and social media observation, the research applies Herbert McClosky’s theory of political participation and Harold D. Lasswell’s model of political communication. The findings show that NasDem Muda functions as an accessible digital entry point, while RBN provides more intensive experiential learning through training and simulations. Together, these programs increase youth political literacy, shift participants from apathetic or spectator positions toward more active non-formal engagement, and open informal recruitment channels without requiring formal party membership. The novelty of this study lies in its comparative analysis of two party-led models of non-formal political education based on experiential learning within a single political organization. The study contributes theoretically by linking participation and communication frameworks with the practice of youth-oriented party education, and offers practical guidance for parties in designing participatory, youth-oriented political education programs.

Abstract

This study analyzes the transparency strategy of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) through its YouTube channel, TV Parlemen, as part of the legislature’s digital communication. The research is motivated by low public trust in the DPR and the growing demand for open, accessible political information in the digital era. It aims to examine how transparency is implemented via TV Parlemen and to assess the effectiveness of this channel in promoting public access to information. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with officials from the Parliamentary News Bureau, the Head of TVR Parlemen, and political observers, complemented by observation of TV Parlemen content and analysis of supporting documents. The findings show that transparency through YouTube remains largely procedural. Although information is opened via live streaming of plenary and commission meetings, the content is dominated by long formats, technical language, and limited contextual explanation, making it difficult for the general public to understand. Mechanisms of agenda setting and quality control also keep openness within institutional boundaries by filtering certain issues, while the interactive features of social media are underutilized. TV Parlemen tends to operate as a one-way documentation channel, reflected in a very low engagement rate of around 0.01%. The study concludes that the channel functions more as an archive than as a medium of substantive transparency, and recommends more concise, contextual, and interactive content packaging to strengthen public understanding and participation.
