Abstract

Background: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is one of the most serious and frequently occurring injuries among youth football players. Such injuries not only disrupt athletic performance and training continuity but also pose long-term risks to an athlete's career and knee joint health. Neuromuscular-based preventive approaches have become a central focus in modern sports science to reduce the incidence of non-contact injuries. Objective: This systematic review aims to evaluate the scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness of the FIFA 11+ program in reducing the risk of ACL injuries among adolescent and young football players. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted through PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar for studies published between 2008 and 2024. The inclusion criteria included randomized controlled trials (RCTs), prospective cohort studies, and systematic reviews or meta-analyses that assessed the impact of the FIFA 11+ program on ACL injury prevention. Results: A total of 10 studies met the inclusion criteria. Most of these studies demonstrated that implementation of the FIFA 11+ program reduced ACL injury risk by 30–77%, improved neuromuscular stability, and enhanced postural control and dynamic balance. The program's effectiveness was highly influenced by coach adherence, supervision quality, and training frequency of at least two to three sessions per week. Conclusion: The FIFA 11+ program has been proven to be an effective, low- cost, and easily implementable warm-up strategy for ACL injury prevention among youth football players in Indonesia. It has the potential to serve as a sustainable national model for neuromuscular-based injury prevention. Keywords: ACL injury, injury prevention, FIFA 11+, neuromuscular training, youth football, coach education

Abstract

Kabaddi is a complex game with high intensity, where each player must have good aerobic and anaerobic capacity. Considering the playing position, body composition needs to be taken into account, because ideal body composition is a determining factor in an athlete's performance. This study aims to determine the body composition of kabaddi players and compare the characteristics of muscle mass (kg) and fat percentage (%) between raiders and defenders. This study uses a comparative quantitative method with a sample size of 19 kabaddi athletes from East Java. Body composition measurements were taken using InBody H20, which measures muscle mass and fat percentage. Data analysis was performed using the t-test with the help of SPSS software. The results of this study showed that there was no significant difference in muscle mass between raiders and defenders (p=0.223), and there was no significant difference in fat percentage (p=0.930). The conclusion is that even though the raider and defender positions have different roles, the balance between muscle mass and body fat percentage is one of the factors that supports optimal performance. Due to the complementary and dynamic playing patterns in kabaddi, athletes from both positions have almost equivalent physical requirements, which leads to similar body compositions. Abstract

Psychological responses can also be found in injured soccer players. There is limited literature on the availability of psychological interventions that can help athletes return to training and competition after injury in the Indonesian context. This study aims to analyze the need for psychological interventions to support post- injury medical rehabilitation in adolescent soccer athletes. Rapid Qualitative Assessment A survey was conducted with a youth soccer player, a coach, and a physiotherapist to understand the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral responses of youth soccer players undergoing injury rehabilitation. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis to generate themes regarding player reactions to injury, support received, and expectations regarding needed psychological interventions. Based on the resulting themes, intervention needs were identified related to managing negative emotions and interpretations due to injury, fostering motivation for recovery and encouraging behaviors that support rehabilitation, and social support. These needs can serve as a reference in determining psychological intervention methods for assisting youth soccer players who experience injuries.. Abstract

Football is not always professional and is not entirely competitive or achievement- oriented. Football can also be carried out as a recreational activity. Community- based football, more familiarly known as fun football, represents football activities that are recreational in nature. This study aims to identify the philosophical values contained in community-based football activities in Yogyakarta. Using a qualitative-philosophical approach (ethnography, phenomenology, hermeneutics), this study explores how community football is not only understood as a physical activity but also as a medium for reflecting humanistic values, solidarity, and local identity. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with respondents (consisting of players, coaches, team administrators, and field managers), as well as text analysis from relevant documents. The research results show that community football in Yogyakarta contains philosophical values such as mutual cooperation, togetherness, and happiness. This activity also serves as a space for negotiation between local traditions and modernity, which can have a positive impact on the sports tourism sector. The study concludes that community- based football in Yogyakarta is a social practice rich in philosophical meaning, as well as a form of resistance to the commercialization of sports. Abstract

Power is key element in Muay Thai to executing quick attacks and avoiding opponent attacks, Therefore, developing power through a structured training program is crucial for Muay Thai athletes to improve their performance in the fighting arena. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of complex training on improving leg and arm power among members of a Muay Thai club. This study employed a one group pre-test post-test design with 15 participants. The complex training program was carried out in 12 sessions over 4 weeks. The Standing long jump Test was used to measure leg power, while the Medicine ball chest pass Test was used to measure arm power. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, homogeneity test, and paired sample t-test with SPSS version 27. The findings revealed that leg power increased by 8.87% (from 201.53 ± 24.26 cm to 219.40 ± 31.55 cm), but this increase was not statistically significant (p = 0.132; p > 0.05). Meanwhile, arm power increased by 20.16% (from 332.93 ± 74.49 cm to 400.07 ± 53.77 cm) with a statistically significant difference (p = 0.015; p < 0.05). Complex training significantly improved arm power but did not significantly affect leg power. Keywords: complex training, leg power, arm power, muay thai.

Abstract

The expanding popularity of Pencak Silat, particularly in the full-contact sparring category, exposes athletes to significant injury risks caused by intrinsic and extrinsic factors, including the implementation of complex new regulations. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of these rules by referees is critical to mitigate injuries and prioritize athlete safety. This study aims to analyze the incidence of injuries among pencak silat athletes participating in the Pekan Olahraga Pelajar Daerah, a regional multi-event Regional Student Sports Week in Indonesia at the district level in the regencies of Banyumas, Cilacap, Purbalingga, and Banjarnegara, Central Java Province. This study employed a cross-sectional survey design, involving 142 adolescent pencak silat athletes selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire adapted from Fuller et al and supplemented by interviews to validate responses. The questionnaire focused on athlete demographics, injury characteristics, and affected body regions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency distribution and percentage calculations, to provide an empirical overview of injury patterns and incidence rates. The majority of injuries occurred during training sessions (87%) rather than competitions (27%). Chronic injuries were more prevalent (85%) compared to acute injuries (15%). The lower extremities were the most affected body parts (77%), particularly the knee (26%), ankle (24%), and hip (24%). Pencak silat athletes are more prone to chronic injuries, particularly in the lower extremities. Injury prevention efforts should focus on proper warm-up routines, injury education, and enhancing technical skills to minimize injury risks during both training and competition. Keywords: pencak silat, sports injuries, injury assessment, injury prevention.
