Abstract

This study aims to discuss the ideology or thoughts of Nawal el Saadawi and Ratna Sarumpaet regarding feminism influencing their works. In order to achieve this goal, a descriptive qualitative method was used in this study. The source of the data comes from the novel Perempuan di Titik Nol (2022) by Nawal el Sadaawi and the drama script Pelacur dan Sang Presiden (2006) by Ratna Sarumpaet. The data used are the contents of the text and the ideas in it, the social context of the author, and other related data. Data is obtained by reading and recording information. The data were analyzed using a feminist approach. The results of the study show a picture of discrimination and injustice experienced by women in the novel Perempuan di Titik Nol by Nawal el Sadaawi and the drama script Pelacur dan Sang Presiden by Ratna Sarumpaet. These two authors highlight women's issues in their respective countries. Nawal and Ratna try to show the struggles of women from the oppression they experience through their works. These works were created as a manifestation of the feminist movement that the two authors were trying to show.

Abstract

This paper examines threat utterances in online loan collection. Online loans are one of the financial services that are currently being used by the public. However, online loan collection efforts have created its own problems among the public. The purpose of this study is to explain threat utterances of online loan collection. Data sources for this research are 42 screenshots of online loan collection on Instagram accounts. This research data is utterance structure of threats when the creditor collects the debtor. This study uses Beller's (2005) theory over types of threatening utterances. Based on the results, the findings of this study are more towards threat utterances constructions of (i) conditional, (ii) conjunctive, and (iii) disjunctive. Threat utterances in the form of conditional used more frequent compared to the other construction.

Abstract

The study "Ilocutionary Speech Acts on Special Interview Indonesia Hebat Bersama Presiden Joko Widodo" is motivated by the existence of speech acts contained in the interviews which have aims and objectives. The speech does not only telling or informing, but also asking the other party to do something. The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the types of Ilocutionary Speech Acts on Special Interview Indonesia Hebat Bersama Presiden Joko Widodo. This study uses the method of collecting data observing and note-taking techniques. The method of data analysis uses the matching method followed by the basic technique of sorting out determinants (PUP). The results of this study show that types of illocutionary speech acts, namely (1) assertive speech acts telling, explaining, affirming, and conveying speech acts; (2) directive speech acts asking, appealing, and offering speech acts; (3) commissive speech acts wishes and promises; (4) expressive speech acts congratulating, thanking, praising, hoping, giving thanks, worrying, and caring; and (5) the speech act of declaration is only in the form of deciding speech. The type of speech act that is often found in the Special Interview Indonesia Hebat Bersama Presiden Joko Widodo is the directive asking speech act with 12 data. This study can later be used as input and reference material for linguistic research with pragmatic studies, especially illocutionary speech acts.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the comparison of the storytelling structure of Mia Chuz's novel Wedding Agreement and the film Wedding Agreement directed by Archie Hekagery and its relevance to literature learning in high school. This study uses qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques are carried out by literature study techniques and documentary techniques. There are two sources of data in this study, namely primary data sources and secondary data sources. Primary data sources are obtained from quotes and dialogues in the novel and film Wedding Agreement, while secondary data sources are obtained from Google website links. The data analysis technique of this research uses comparative-inductive techniques and the excranization process. This technique is used to compare data obtained from literary works. The results of this study prove that in the structure of the storytelling in the novel and film Wedding Agreement is broadly the same and those that are translated into films are only taken from the core parts considering that the film is bound by duration. The results of this study find six plot data from novels, seven plot data from films, five background data from the novel, and nine data from the setting. A number of characters are found are 26 characters in the novel and 19 characters in the film Wedding Agreement.

Abstract

The development of the world of literature and poetry today has resulted the proliferation of various poems that reflect ideological and social constructions in society. One of them is narrative-style poetry which often features characters with specific identities. One of the poets who is prolific in producing literary works in the form of narrative poetry is Joko Pinurbo who is famous for his uniqueness regarding the topic of his poetry which mostly discusses female characters. This article aims to identify the various female characters in Joko Pinurbo's poetry through a semiotic perspective. The analysis used is the Charles Morris three-dimensional framework. The research method used is descriptive method, with a qualitative approach. The data source is 12 poetry titles in Buku Latihan Tidur by Joko Pinurbo's collection of poetry. The data is analyzed by describing semiotic meanings in terms of syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Then, those data are related to the categories of Macinos' masculine and feminine traits. The result of the study shows that there is a dominance of the depiction of feminine characters towards female characters in Joko Pinurbo's poetry which represents the traces of Joko Pinurbo's ideology and gender perspective as a writer.

Abstract

Generally, language disorders experienced by people with schizophrenia include speaking often interspersed with other words, creating new words, and often speaking out of context. Even so, some people with schizophrenia can still be invited to talk or communicate. This study aims to explain the characteristics and meaning of the verbal language of schizophrenics. The methods and techniques used are data provision, data analysis, and presentation data, according to Sudaryanto (2015). Tapping techniques and pancing techniques are used to obtain data. Then, the data is analyzed using the padan method and presented descriptively. The results found that there are five characteristics of the schizophrenic’s verbal language, namely incoherence, neologisms, mixed words, silences, and repetition. Then, there are three meanings of the schizophrenic’s verbal language, namely sense, tone, and intention. In this research, there is no feelings because the splitting of the soul experienced by the sufferer caused what the sufferer said was not compliant with what he felt.

Abstract

This study aims to identify, classify, and analyze speech switching patterns in how to take turns in speaking contained in Vindes' YouTube video episode "Najwa Shihab Was So Brave! VincentDesta Who Were Frightened ". This research is included in qualitative research with descriptive methods using listening and recording techniques. The data used in this study are some sentences from the conversation between Vincent, Desta, and Najwa Shibah in Vindes' YouTube video episode "Najwa Shihab Was So Brave! Vincent Desta Who Were Frightened ". The results showed various patterns of speech transfer how to take turns in speaking contained in the video, namely 23 consisting of 1 by obtaining, 9 by stealing, 4 by grabbing, 6 by replacing, 2 by creating, and 1 by continuing.

Abstract

Literature, including folk literature, are reflections of imaginations, beliefs, knowledge, and experiences of the creators. Literature manuscripts provide a wealth of information about the lives of people who lived in the past, including leadership style, politics, social life, economy, religion, culture, and language. Some of folklore in Tidore is documented in an anthology called “Namo Baikole: Antologi Cerita Rakyat Tidore” that contains 7 local traditional stories. The aim of the study is to find the concept of leadership in the anthology. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and uses content analysis. The data collection technique in this research is document analysis using a literary sociology approach or study. The literary sociology applied in this research is literary sociology in the framework of understanding social ideas regarding the concept of leadership contained in Namo Baikole: Antologi Cerita Rakyat Tidore. The result shows that there are three leadership concepts described in the “Namo Baikole: Antologi Cerita Rakyat Tidore” book, namely leaders must be wise in making decisions, leaders must be brave and be able to solve problems, and leaders must be smart or intelligent.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the manifestation of the meaning of the emotive word "andiko" in a sociopragmatic perspective. The substantive data source is the speech spoken by Karo people in which there are manifestations of variations in the meaning of the emotive word "andiko". The research data is in the form of snippets of speech containing variations in the meaning of the emotive word "andiko". The substantive data source is the speech spoken by Karo people in which there are manifestations of variations in the meaning of the emotive word "andiko" and the word "andiko" contained in Karo turi-turin. The data collection method used is by using the listening method and the chap method. This study found eight manifestations of the meaning of the emotive word "andiko" viewed from a sociopragmatic perspective, namely 1) meaning to show affection, 2) meaning to show concern, 3) meaning to show surprise, 4) meaning to show defense, 5) meaning to show praise, 6) meaning to show gratitude, 7) meaning to show surprise, and 8) meaning to show sadness.

Abstract

Ternate, a city in North Maluku possesses abundance of local wisdoms with many variety of types. One type of the local wisdoms is traditional games or permainan rakyat as the people of Ternate called them. Folk games or commonly termed as traditional games are type of local wisdom where still exist in Ternate but rarely practiced by nowadays children along with the emergence of online games which are grasping harder in influencing the type of children games today. This problem raises an issue for maintaining local wisdom values for children through Ternate’s traditional games. The identified data were then be analysed by a literary perspective value theory and by a qualitative descriptive research method. Data collection was conducted by interview and documentation technique. This study found approximately 7 (seven) folk games originated from the people of Ternate, North Maluku. Among them are 1) fortress game (permainan benteng); 2) boi tampurung game; 3) dodorobe game, 4) falinggir game; 5) sem game; 6) mereka pusat game; 7) jilo-jilo game; and 8) cenge-cenge game. These types of folk games are rarely practiced by Ternate children and the disappearance of the cultural practice from these folk games is a sign of the loss of local wisdom values of the community. Therefore, cultural preservation of these folk games need to be addressed to make them remain sustainable and able to maintain their values in the local community.
