Abstract

This study aims to determine the intelligence of Overcoming Adversity (Adversity Quotient) on the character Enong in the novel Padang Bulan by Andrea Hirata. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method and the technique is content analysis technique, in which analyzing data which have been described and the approach used is psychology of literature approach, the theory used is Adversity Quotient which is proposed by Paul G. Stoltz. It can be concluded that Enong has the intelligence when facing difficulty or Adversity Quotient (AQ) as a climber. Climber itself is a fighter figure. Climber has always been serious about living his/her life, having a sense of optimism, having plans for his/her life and they are a figure of thinkers who will not let the obstacles come to halt his/her struggle.

Abstract

Literature, including folk literature, are reflections of imaginations, beliefs, knowledge, and experiences of the creators. Literature manuscripts provide a wealth of information about the lives of people who lived in the past, including leadership style, politics, social life, economy, religion, culture, and language. Some of folklore in Tidore is documented in an anthology called “Namo Baikole: Antologi Cerita Rakyat Tidore” that contains 7 local traditional stories. The aim of the study is to find the concept of leadership in the anthology. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and uses content analysis. The data collection technique in this research is document analysis using a literary sociology approach or study. The literary sociology applied in this research is literary sociology in the framework of understanding social ideas regarding the concept of leadership contained in Namo Baikole: Antologi Cerita Rakyat Tidore. The result shows that there are three leadership concepts described in the “Namo Baikole: Antologi Cerita Rakyat Tidore” book, namely leaders must be wise in making decisions, leaders must be brave and be able to solve problems, and leaders must be smart or intelligent.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of politeness strategies used by politicians on public trust. The data is sourced from the YouTube channel "Metro TV," specifically the episode "Tangan Besi Sri Mulyani," which features an interview between Andy F. Noya as the host and Sri Mulyani, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, as the guest. Methodologically, the study is divided into three stages: analyzing the politeness strategies used by both the host and the guest, identifying overall polite/impolite behaviors of the host and guest, and analyzing public sentiment through comments on the YouTube channel. The findings reveal that language politeness does not significantly impact public trust. However, in conflict situations, such as disputes between the host and guest, politeness can play a crucial role in restoring positive perceptions. Politeness is generally associated with good ethics and positive attitudes, while impoliteness is seen negatively and can trigger criticism of the impolite party and support for the polite one. Responding to impoliteness with politeness is considered good etiquette that can enhance support, and impoliteness is not always viewed negatively if understood as a defense against prior rudeness from the interlocutor. The conclusion of this study suggest that while politeness strategies in political interviews may not affect public trust, politeness still plays an important role in improving public perception during disputes or conflicts.

Abstract

In 2016 and 2017, Meikarta and Podomoro Golf View (PGV) were offering the Ideal City for the consumers in Indonesia. These projects were promoted by audiovisual advertisements. Therefore, the research aimed to compare the representation of ideal city in Meikarta and PGV advertisements. The research used a qualitative design in conducting the study. The data were the Meikarta audiovisual advertisement “Aku ingin pindah ke Meikarta” and the PGV audiovisual advertisement in 2017. To find the objective of the research, the researcher used Critical Discourse Analysis by Fairclough (1996) in emphasizing on language and power inequality. Fairclough (1996) introduced the model of discourse analysis, such as: text, interaction, and context. Moreover, to identify whether were or not the relationship between language; ideology; and power, the researcher applied three dimensions by Fairclough in analyzing the data, namely: Description, Interpretation, and Explanation. Then, the research figured out that both of advertisements had concepts to attract the consumers to buy the products by demonstrating the concepts of ideal city, such as: no traffic jam, modern transportation system, health center, good weather, greenery, and easy access. Besides that, the researcher found out on how ideology and power tightly displayed in the advertisements.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) approach inimproving young learners’ vocabulary skills. The research was conducted at Pondok PesantrenDarul Amin Palangka Raya, involving 25 seventh-grade students selected through purposivesampling. A quantitative research method with an experimental group design was employed.The instrument used was a vocabulary test consisting of 15 questions covering five topics:Greetings, Colours, Counting, Telling Time, and Simple Present Tense. Students’ performancewas measured through a pre-test and a post-test. The results showed a significant improvementin students’ vocabulary achievement after the implementation of the Game-Based Learningapproach, with the average score increasing from 66.92 to 87.12. Statistical analysis, includingthe t-test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, confirmed the effectiveness of thetreatment. These findings birutoto suggest that Game-Based Learning is an effective and engagingmethod for enhancing vocabulary acquisition among young learners. The study supports theintegration of game-based strategies as a meaningful and enjoyable alternative to traditionalvocabulary instruction in English language learning.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini melibatkan kerja sama antara tim dengan mitra, yaitu SDN 42 Kota Ternate. Rangkaian kegiatan ini meliputi; persiapan, sosialisai awal, lokakarya, dilanjutkan dengan praktik langsung storytelling kepada siswa, sebagai bentuk percontohan kepada guru, dan terakhir evaluasi. Kendala utama yang dihadapi adalah perubahan jadwal yang sering terjadi, tetapi koordinasi antara mitra, narasumber, dan tim pengabdian membantu mengatasi masalah ini. Kegiatan pengabdian ini berhasil dan mendapat respons positif dari pihak sekolah sebagai mitra dan siswa. Untuk selanjutnya, disarankan agar kegiatan ini tidak berhenti. Sekolah sebaiknya mendukung dewan guru untuk melanjutkan storytelling sebagai bagian dari proses pembelajaran. Guru juga dapat mengembangkan storytelling dengan berbagai model dan metode pembelajaran yang sesuai. Dengan demikian, kesadaran lingkungan dapat terus tumbuh dan berkembang di kalangan siswa.

Abstract

Increased life skills for mothers in Pajangan sub-village through rice bran training. The purpose of the training is to improve life skills in the Pajangan sub-village, especially in food products using local bran ingredients. Rice bran has a variety of nutrients including antioxidants containing tocopherol, vitamin E and vitamin B15. These compounds play a role to reduce blood cholesterol levels, prevent cancer and facilitate hormonal secretions. Besides rice, rice husks or rice bran are not only sold to feed livestock, but are developed to make quality and quality products, but also can increase income and improve the living standards of LPKK women in Pajangan Berbah Hamlet, Sleman. The kinds of products we make are wet brownies and dry brownies. Abdimas is held in the Pajangan hamlet hall, Berbah Sleman. This activity was carried out for two days, namely the preparation phase on the first day and the implementation and socialization on the second day with a total of twelve hours of activity time. The target of this activity is LPKK women in the Pajangan Berbah Sleman. This activity is carried out using lecture, demonstration, training and practice methods. The resulting output is an increase in life skills through the skills to make bran brownies is a weekly newpepper.

Abstract

This study aims to provide insight and an overview of the application of microlearning in the digital era. The method in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data population used in this study is an indexed journal with the scope of microlearning and digital learning. The data analysis technique uses Miles and Huberman with three stages, including 1) data reduction, 2) data presentation, and 3) drawing conclusions. Microlearning emphasizes the concept of short, practical, and flexible learning. Learning is not limited to the classroom, but can be held digitally by utilizing technological developments. The application of microlearning can be used as an appropriate model in implementing fun and modern digital learning. Microlearning in the digital era can be done in a relatively short time with a scope of core learning topics through the help of interactive media such as podcasts, PowerPoint text, infographics, motion, graphics, and video explainers. Assessments in microlearning can be done with the help of Artificial Intelligence-based applications, including Kahoot, Quizizz, and Moodle. The ability of educators to adapt to technological literacy is the main key to the success of microlearning.

Abstract

Gereja merupakan organisasi keagamaan yang bersifat nirlaba yang hidup dan bertumbuh di tengah-tengah kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia. Kehadiran gereja dalam komunitas besar tersebut bukan hanya sibuk bagi dirinya sendiri namun gereja memiliki tugas dari Tuhan untuk memberikan dampak dan manfaat bagi lingkungan sekitarnya, kotanya, dan juga bagi negara secara umum untuk mencapai tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (sustainable development goals). Untuk itulah para pemimpin gereja perlu menyadari peranannya sebagai motor penggerak bagi seluruh anggota gereja untuk mengimplementasikan sifat keramahtamahan sebagaimana yang Kristus ajarkan selama pelayanan-Nya dalam dunia ini. Masih ada para pemimpin gereja yang tidak menyadari hal tersebut sehingga fungsi gereja mengalami tantangan secara serius. Di era moderen ini, gereja perlu mengembangkan kapasitasnya sebagai organisasi bahkan hal tersebut perlu untuk dilakukan secara dinamis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran secara mendalam mengenai pentingnya implementasi teologi keramahtamahan bagi keberlanjutan masyarakat Indonesia dalam bentuk berbagai kegiatan sosial untuk mencapai tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan khususnya pada bidang pendidikan dan pekerjaan layak. Keramahtamahan menjadi jembatan yang menghubungkan kasih Allah bagi semua orang yang diwujudkan dalam aksi nyata membangun negeri untuk mencapai tujuan pembangunan yang berkelanjutan. Negeri yang menyiapkan tempat tinggal yang ramah bagi generasi penerus bangsa di kemudian hari.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in enhancing vocabulary acquisition and receptive skills—specifically reading and listening—in English language learning. Focusing on three widely used platforms—Memrise, Cake, and Duolingo—a literature review of 21 peer-reviewed sources was conducted. Findings indicate that Memrise effectively supports vocabulary retention through spaced repetition and native speaker input, Cake addresses listening comprehension challenges via authentic, adaptive video materials, and Duolingo promotes vocabulary growth and reading fluency through gamified, personalized learning. Collectively, these AI tools foster learner autonomy, sustain motivation, and create flexible, engaging learning environments. The study underscores the importance of strategically integrating AI technologies into English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction to address diverse learner needs and improve learning outcomes.
