Abstract

In the Islamic context, the quality of the relationship between husband and wife is greatly influenced by the husband's character, which is measured based on the hadith "Khiyārukum Khiyārukum Linisāihim," narrated in the Sunan al-Tirmidhi. This study aims to analyze the normative meaning of this hadith, particularly in relation to the husband's character within the family. The research methodology employed is qualitative, using a library research approach and the Takhrīj al-Ḥadīṡ technique to verify the sanad and matn of the hadith, along with a syarah analysis to understand the relevance of the hadith's content to the husband's character in building a sakinah family. The findings of this study indicate that the quality of a husband's faith is reflected in his treatment of his wife, which includes love, justice, responsibility, and gentleness. This discovery contributes to understanding the importance of the husband's character in creating marital harmony and reducing the potential for divorce. In conclusion, this research affirms that this hadith is not only theologically relevant but also practical in establishing a sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah Islamic family. Future research is expected to further explore the application of the values in this hadith within the context of modern social realities.

Abstract

This study explores the voices of Banjar migrant women who experienced polygamy, focusing on their lived experiences and the socio-cultural mechanisms that legitimize this practice. Employing a life history method, the research draws on in-depth interviews with Banjar women subjected to polygamous marriages in Serdang Bedagai, Indonesia. Data were analyzed through a systematic process involving data reduction, narrative presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that polygamy within Banjar society is deeply embedded in religious interpretations, cultural traditions, and social norms, all of which are reinforced by the authority of Tuan Guru (religious leaders) who frame the role of polygamous wives as spiritually honorable. However, beneath this constructed legitimacy lies a system of male domination that operates through three interrelated forms of power: material power, manifested in male control over economic resources; symbolic power, which enhances male social status through polygamy; and normative power, which restricts women’s resistance through religious and cultural justification. Together, these forms of power constitute a cohesive structure of gendered subjugation, wherein polygamy functions not only as a personal or cultural practice but as an institutionalized mechanism of oppression.

The research method used is a literature study with a textual analysis approach to the hadiths that discuss this topic, as well as reviewing scientific research related to the effects of honey, olive oil, and black cumin seeds on men's reproductive health. The results show that honey, olive oil, and black cumin seeds have therapeutic properties that can support men's sexual and reproductive health, such as improving sperm quality, increasing libido, and overcoming impotence problems. In conclusion, the use of honey, olive oil, and black cumin seeds according to the recommendations in the hadith can have a positive impact on men's reproductive health, with the note that further research is needed to explore their biological mechanisms.

Abstract

This paper examines the integration of Islamic education and the sociology of education perspective as a response to the crisis of dehumanization in modern education. Modern education, which tends to emphasize cognitive and instrumental aspects, has neglected the spiritual and moral dimensions of humankind. Through the approaches of classical sociologists such as Émile Durkheim and Talcott Parsons, as well as the thoughts of Muslim scholars such as Hasan Langgulung, Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas, and Abdurrahman an-Nahlawi, this article demonstrates that Islamic education offers a holistic educational model. By making tawhid (Islamic unity) the foundation, morality the goal, and worship the integration of knowledge and practice, Islamic education can shape perfect human beings who are not only intellectually intelligent but also morally, spiritually, and socially sound. This conceptualization positions Islamic education as a humanistic, transformative, and relevant alternative solution in addressing global challenges.
