Abstract

The Ma’arif Nahdlatul Ulama Educational Institution (LP Ma’arif NU) is one of the key pillars in the development of Islamic education in Indonesia, oriented toward the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja) and the principle of religious moderation (wasathiyah). This study aims to describe the historical background of LP Ma’arif NU’s establishment in Gunungsitoli City, analyze its role in advancing Islamic education, and identify the challenges it faces in maintaining its existence amid local social and cultural dynamics This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with LP Ma’arif NU administrators, school principals, teachers, and community leaders, as well as through field observations and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted using data reduction, data presentation, and interactive conclusion-drawing techniques. The findings indicate that LP Ma’arif NU in Gunungsitoli City was established on the initiative of NU members to provide moderate Islamic education rooted in local traditions. The study concludes that LP Ma’arif NU in Gunungsitoli City plays a strategic role in strengthening moderate Islamic education but requires institutional reinforcement, stakeholder support, and adaptive strategies to grow and remain competitive in the future.

Abstract

Based on the facts on the ground, there is still significant variation in student participation in the mandatory Scouting extracurricular activity. Some students are actively involved, while others are passive or even do not participate at all. This raises the question of whether the level of participation in Scouting can significantly contribute to the development of students' character and abilities. This study aims to analyze the influence of student participation in Scouting extracurricular activities at MTs Mathla'ul Anwar 2, Bogor City. The method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive method with percentages. The sample size was 120 students, with 60 active students and 60 inactive students. The instruments used were test questions, questionnaires, and observation sheets. The results showed that students with high levels of active participation scored moderately to very high in spatial thinking ability and disciplinary character assessments. This means that the level of participation in Scouting extracurricular activities influences students' spatial thinking ability and disciplinary character.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the concept of brotherhood of hope in QS Al-Hujurat verses 11-13, to describe the concept of brotherhood of hope in the Qur'an according to Tafsir al-Misbah and Tafsir al-Azhar in QS Al-Hujurat verses 11-13, describe the implications of brotherhood of hope in QS Al-Hujurat verses 11-13. The method used is library research with a comparative approach and the theory of meaning and understanding between Tafsir al-Misbah and Tafsir al-Azhar in QS al-Hujurat: 11-13. The data analysis process with data collection, data reduction and conclusions. This study explains that the siblinghood of hope is formed from several types of relationships, namely: traditional full sibling individuals who have the same biological parents, half sibling individuals who have one parent in common, step sibling individuals who do not have the same biological parents but have a relationship resulting from marriage between parents, adoptive sibling individuals who are legally adopted by a family, and fictive sibling individuals who have been related siblings. The brotherhood of hope according to M. Quraish Shihab is a brotherhood that is not limited to relationships between believers but across religions and social groups. According to Buya Hamka, the relationship is based on ideological similarities and one descent.

Abstract

This study reinterprets Imam al-Nakhaʿī's methodological legacy—rooted in the early Kufan tradition of ra'y, qiyās, and the proto-Hanafi notion later formalized as istiḥsan—to develop criteria for defining zakatable wealth in contemporary economies. Using a doctrinal-comparative design, we (i) reconstruct al-Nakhaʿī's approach from classical reports and secondary scholarship; (ii) conduct a content analysis of Indonesia's Law 23/2011, Government Regulation 14/2014, MoRA Regulation 52/2014, and MUI Fatwa No. 3/2003; and (iii) contrast Indonesia's formulation with selected Malaysian practice (eg, payroll-based income zakat). The paper proposes a transferable decision matrix linking asset types (earned income/“al-māl al-mustafād,” business profits, securities, precious metals, digital/financial instruments) to normative parameters (ownership stability, growth potential, tradeability/liq uidity, and benefit realization) and to regulatory levers (niṣab benchmarks,ḥawlrequirements, net-vs-gross basis, withholding mechanisms, and hardship allowances/ḥadd al-kifaYes). Findings indicate that Indonesia's framework substantively accommodates dynamization of zakat objects but exhibits gaps of alignment—notably inconsistent treatment ofḥawland thisṣab for earned income, and ambiguity around net-of-needs calculations and financial assets. We argue that operationalizing an al-Nakhaʿī-inspired matrix can improve concept–rule coherence, guide harmonization across statute–regulation–fatwa, and furnish auditable standards for zakat agencies (eg, payroll deduction rules, asset-class worksheets, disclosure templates). Originality lies in explicitly translating an early Kufan method into concrete, testable regulatory criteria, thus bridging classical proposals with modern policy design.

Abstract

The role of a wife in maintaining the dignity of a Sakinah family at home is a problem faced when women have a career in politics. This condition is also a polemic for experts in interpretation and jurisprudence about women's careers in the public sphere. This study aims to find a comprehensive perspective on how wives as politicians play their role in creating a Sakinah family, based on Islamic law and phenomenological studies. The study was conducted using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The results of the study indicate that in creating a sakinah family, there are principles that must be used as a basis by wives as politicians, including 1) making faith and piety the foundation for family and career, 2) respecting each other's rights and responsibilities, 3) maintaining harmony in communication, 4) sharing roles and responsibilities, 5) protecting oneself from slander, and 6) consulting with husbands/family members in decision making.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the permissibility of slaughtering and distributing dam animals outside the Holy Land, including Indonesia, based on the opinions of contemporary scholars and fatwa institutions. This issue is important because of the emergence of the 2024 Indonesian Hajj Mudzakarah policy which permits the slaughter and distribution of dam meat outside the Holy Land, including Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach and library research. This study produced three findings that permit the slaughter of dam meat in Indonesia: the opinions of Ath-Thabari, the Maliki School, the Hanbali School, and the Egyptian Darul Ifta Fatwa, which emphasizes the aspects of welfare and youth for Hajj pilgrims. Meanwhile, two opinions prohibit it, namely Imam Shafi'i and Imam Abu Hanifah, according to which the slaughter of dam meat must be carried out in the Holy Land according to sharia. These results show the flexibility of Islamic law that can be considered in a modern context, especially in the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage which is oriented towards social welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a consumptive cash waqf management model based on the principle of maslahah mursalah as a strategic step in improving community economic resilience. Cash waqf, as an Islamic financial instrument, has significant potential in empowering the community's economy, especially if its management is dynamically adapted to the needs and conditions of the community. The principle of maslahah mursalah emphasizes efforts to achieve public welfare and prevent harm, thus becoming an important basis in designing an adaptive and effective waqf scheme. This research method uses a qualitative approach with literature analysis, interviews with waqf and Islamic economics experts, and case studies on waqf management that have been implemented. The results show that optimal management of consumptive cash waqf must be based on eliminating urgent needs such as financing for productive consumption, education, health, and preventative social assistance. In this formulation, cash waqf is not only philanthropic, but also aimed to create long-term economic impact by strengthening the purchasing power and financial resilience of poor and vulnerable families.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the fundamental concept of evaluation from the perspective of the Qur'an and Hadith, focusing on three main aspects: the definition of learning evaluation in the Qur'an and Hadith, the objectives of learning evaluation in the Qur'an and Hadith, and the principles of learning evaluation derived from these two primary foundations of Islamic teachings. The background of this study stems from the awareness that the evaluation process in education is not merely intended to assess students' learning achievements but also serves as a means of nurturing moral character and strengthening spiritual values in accordance with Islamic law. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding is required of how learning evaluation is positioned within the framework of the values of the Qur'an and Hadith, so that its implementation is not only technical in nature but also embodies moral and spiritual dimensions. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method, which involves reviewing, examining, and analyzing data from various relevant primary and secondary literature sources, including Qur'anic exegesis, Hadith commentaries, and scholarly books on Islamic education. The results of the study indicate that learning evaluation from the perspective of the Qur'an and Hadith is not solely oriented toward cognitive learning outcomes but also encompasses affective and psychomotor aspects, emphasizing the formation of Islamic character, honesty, responsibility, and diligence in learning.

Abstract

The use of application-based digital media provides a solution to the problem of limited teacher and student access to Ghoroibul Qur'an text and audio materials that have been distributed unstructured through WhatsApp and YouTube. This application is designed to be accessible offline and integrated with the Ummi curriculum, thereby increasing learning efficiency, student independence, and assisting teachers in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. This study aims to identify teacher and student obstacles in the learning process and recommend an innovative model of Android application-based learning media as an alternative solution. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the developed application acts as an innovative media that combines text and audio materials in one platform, can be accessed without an internet connection, and is designed to meet field needs. This recommendation is considered innovative in supporting more efficient, standardized, and relevant learning management to the development of technology-based Islamic education in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines in depth the process of religious character formation in rural communities through a socio-cultural approach. In the context of Indonesian society, rural environments have great potential as agents of religious education due to strong communal ties, preservation of local culture, and high participation in religious practices. This article highlights the strategic role of the family as a primary socialization agent, religious figures as informal leaders who provide spiritual and moral guidance, and Islamic educational institutions such as Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and madrasahs (madrasahs) as centers for the internalization of religious values. Furthermore, local cultures such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and deliberation (musyawarah) also serve as vehicles for the instillation of contextual moral values. Through a qualitative approach and literature review, it was found that the integration of formal and non-formal education, social control based on religious norms, and the wise use of digital media can strengthen the formation of religious character in the younger generation. This study emphasizes the importance of religious character education that is adaptive to current developments, while remaining rooted in traditional values and religious moderation. The results of this study provide a conceptual contribution to the development of community-based character education models in addressing global challenges and moral crises. However, it is important to note that social media also has a significant impact on the education and socialization process of the younger generation.
