Abstract

The process of producing briquettes from coconut shells is a promising alternative for waste utilization, creating products with high economic value for small industries. Coconut shell briquettes have a relatively high calorific value and are environmentally friendly. However, the production process, particularly in making charcoal and briquettes, still requires more efficient techniques and technology. The type of furnace used significantly affects the characteristics of the charcoal briquettes produced. The results of the study indicate that both combustion methods have a significant impact on the quality of the charcoal briquettes. The open furnace made of iron material required less time compared to the closed furnace combustion method. However, the closed furnace method is safer as it prevents direct contact with fire during combustion. In the combustion tests conducted three times using a closed furnace made of drum or zinc material, the charcoal yield was approximately 20%. A combustion test using 20 kg of coconut shell material produced 7.5 kg more charcoal with the closed furnace compared to the open furnace made of iron plate material. Additionally, the smoke produced from the closed furnace was minimal but steady throughout the combustion process. When compared to the quality requirements outlined in SNI 01-6235-2000, the results showed that five parameters met the standard requirements: moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content, and calorific value. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that both combustion methods have their respective advantages. The selection of the appropriate method can be tailored to production needs and environmental considerations.

Abstract

Vending machines are automated goods-selling devices that operate without the need for an operator, allowing consumers to select the goods they want. These machines typically dispense drinks or snacks independently. A common issue with traditional vending machines is the lack of a refund system, which requires consumers to have the exact change to make a purchase. This study focuses on the design and development of a smart vending machine controlled via an Android smartphone application, specifically targeting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Balikpapan, Indonesia. The research aims to ensure user adoption of the new system. During the development process, relevant literature and existing implementations were analyzed, leading to the decision to create a vending machine that supports payments without relying exclusively on Android or other platform-based devices. Drink menus are selected using automated technologies that analyze consumer demand for various types of beverages. The goal of this research is to assist MSMEs in independently marketing drinks online and to enhance consumer convenience through the use of advanced technology. A prototype was developed and tested in field trials to collect user feedback, and the findings are discussed in this study.

Abstract

Humans were created by Allah SWT as servants (abd) and leaders (khalifah fil ardh), requiring them to base every action on knowledge. The importance of knowledge is emphasized in the Al-Qur'an (QS. At-Taubah: 122) and the hadith of the Prophet SAW, highlighting it as a necessity in all aspects of life. In the era of Society 5.0—a human-centered society integrating the virtual and physical worlds—education plays a crucial role in developing technological capabilities while maintaining morality and character. One solution to this challenge is the application of Ibnu Khaldun's educational philosophy, which emphasizes education as a means of transferring knowledge, building character, and fostering morality. This research employs a pure library research method using a descriptive analytical approach. The study aims to examine the implementation of Ibnu Khaldun's educational concepts in addressing the challenges of the Society 5.0 era. With a holistic and contextual approach, the research envisions Islamic education that is both adaptive and relevant. The implications include developing a holistic curriculum that integrates intellectual, moral, and spiritual values; fostering responsiveness to social and technological changes by updating curricula and learning methods; emphasizing practical skills through innovative approaches such as project-based learning; and enhancing teacher competencies through pedagogical and technological training. In conclusion, Ibnu Khaldun's educational philosophy provides a strong foundation for Islamic education in the Society 5.0 era. It aims to create a generation that is not only technologically competent but also deeply rooted in Islamic values, cultivating individuals who are morally upright, wise, and prepared to face global challenges.

Abstract

Information technology at the village office level is important in supporting the modernization and optimization of public services. However, the administrative process, especially correspondence services in the village office, especially in Mekar Baru village, is still mostly done manually, which results in delays, inefficiencies, and potential recording errors. These limitations often make it difficult for residents to access correspondence services that require optimal services. To overcome these problems, a web-based digital letter service is needed to quickly, accurately, and well-documented support the letter management process. It allows villagers to create letters independently without coming directly to the village office by providing online services via computers or smartphones. In designing this digital letter service, the prototyping method is applied because it provides an iterative and collaborative system development approach that can accommodate user input at each stage of development so that the resulting system is more in line with user needs and expectations. The research stages include needs analysis, initial prototype creation, testing, and prototype refinement based on user feedback. The initial prototype is then developed and tested through black box testing to ensure the suitability of system functionality and detect errors in system logic. The result of this research is a prototype of a digital mail service website with features of Mekar Baru village information, an independent letter-making by residents, and integrated digital archiving. This system is designed to facilitate access to correspondence services for Mekar Baru village residents and reduce the administrative burden of Mekar Baru village office staff.
