Abstract

Background: Durian peel (Durio zibethinus Murr.), which is often discarded as agricultural waste, contains bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and tannins that exhibit antibacterial properties, particularly against acne-causing bacteria. Utilizing this waste material as a cosmetic ingredient could provide both environmental and economic benefits. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the physical characteristics and stability of a serum formulation prepared with durian peel extract (Durio zibethinus Murr.) at a concentration of 15% Methods: The durian peel extract was obtained using the maceration method with 96% ethanol as the solvent and then formulated into a serum preparation. Physical quality evaluations included tests for color, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesion, and viscosity. Stability testing was conducted through storage observation and the freeze–thaw method. Results: The Musang King variety produced the best formulation, characterized by a yellowish-brown color and homogeneous appearance. The pH remained stable between 4.67 and 6.65 before and after stability testing. Minor changes were observed in spreadability, adhesion, and viscosity values following freeze–thaw cycles, indicating good formulation stability. Irritation testing showed no significant adverse reactions among respondents. Conclusion: The durian peel extract–based serum demonstrated good physical quality and stable characteristics during storage, suggesting its potential use as a natural active ingredient in cosmetic formulations for acne-prone skin care.

Abstract

Background: For young adults with HIV, support and motivation are very important so that they can remain compliant in undergoing ARV therapy. Good support and motivation from those around them, including from peers, are believed to reduce barriers and improve adherence to ARV therapy among them. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between social support from peers and adherence to ARV therapy among young adult PLHIV at the Victory Plus Foundation in Yogyakarta. Methods: This correlational research with a cross-sectional approach was conducted on 81 young adult PLWH (People Living with HIV) aged 18-30 years who are undergoing ART at Victory Plus Foundation in Yogyakarta using purposive sampling. Results: The result shows that the peer social support for young adults living with HIV is mostly in the good category (98.8%), while those in the high category of ART adherence were only 39,5%. Bivariate analysis indicates that there is no significant relationship between peer social support and adherence to ARV therapy (p-value = 0.309) among young adults living with HIV in Yogyakarta. Conclusion: This research shows that there is no relationship between peer social support and adherence to ART therapy in young adult PLWH

Abstract

Background: Female Adolescence begins with the signs of puberty, one of which is menstruation. Adolescents often experience irregular menstrual cycles, making it difficult for them to identify the ovulation phase. More accurate ovulation detection in adolescents can help identify hormonal imbalances or reproductive issues. Objective: To identify the ovulation phase in a more comfortable, affordable, and non-invasive manner does not compromise the privacy of adolescent. Methods: Cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach and purposive sampling technique. Data processing and analyzed were descriptively to identify the characteristics of saliva-based ferning test in detecting the ovulation phaseResults: The results revealed that of a total 24 respondents, 17 female students (70.8%) showed a ferning pattern, while 7 female students (29.2%) did not a ferning pattern. A total of 15 out of 22 female student (68.2%) showed a ferning pattern, while 7 female students (31.8%) showed not ferning pattern. Conclusion: Saliva-based ferning test provides a practical, non-invasive, affordable, and privacy method for detecting the ovulation phase for female adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Drug abuse and the increasing risk of infectious diseases among adolescents are interrelated health issues that require serious attention. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge about drug abuse and infectious disease prevention efforts among adolescents. Methods: The study used a quantitative analytical approach with a cross-sectional design and was conducted from February to April 2026 at Junior High School X Semarang. The study sample consisted of 188 respondents selected using a cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected through a Google Form-based questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Results: The study showed that the majority of respondents had a high level of knowledge (96.8%) and a high level of infectious disease prevention efforts (95.7%). However, statistical tests showed no significant relationship between the two variables (p-value = 0.126).Conclusion: These findings indicate that knowledge alone is not sufficient to influence preventive behavior, necessitating a more comprehensive approach to adolescent health interventions.

Abstract

Background: Incidence PROM in Indonesia ranges 4.5%-6% of all pregnancies, while abroad between 6%-12%. According to RSUD Karawang in 2021, PROM ranked 2nd at 35.4%. One of the maternal deaths with PROM caused by anemia. Anemia is one of the predisposing factors PROM. Incidence pregnancy anemia in Indonesia 12-70%. The prevalence of anemia among pregnant women in Karawang Regency in 2023 was 43.75%, far exceeding the WHO standard of <20%. Objective: to determine the effect anemia during pregnancy with PROM at RSUD Karawang. Methods: cross-sectional design. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were conducted using multiple logistic regression. The study population and sample consisted 120 pregnant women at RSUD Karawang in 2024. The sampling technique used accidental sampling. Results: incidencef PROM at RSUD Karawang was 19.2%. The p-value 0.453 (>0.005), indicating no significant association anemia and PROM. This was possible because the data collection period was limited, resulting in only 6% of the surveyed mothers with KPD being found to have anemia. The results multivariate analysis smoking behavior significantly associated with incidence PROM controlling for anemia with p-value of 0.047.Conclusion: There was no significant association anemia and the incidence PROM at RSUD Karawang
