Abstract

The choice of teaching strategies made by teachers is one of the elements that influence how well students learn. The teacher-centered method causes less meaningful learning for students. Learning is still largely theoretical and infrequently relates what students are taught to their everyday lives. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well students learn physics utilizing a participatory learning model and critical problem-solving skills. The study used an experimental design (control group pre-test post-test design) involving class VIII SMPN 3 Batukliang, with the research sample being class VIII A students as the experimental class and class VIII B students as the control class. A straightforward random sample method was used for sampling. Learning outcomes determined by testing are used to determine student achievement. A descriptive and statistical analysis of student achievement in two classrooms (experimental and control) was conducted. Average scores for each treatment group are used in the descriptive analysis, whereas variance is questioned in the statistical analysis using the t-test. The effect of the participatory learning model using critical problem-solving techniques (experimental group) was measured by the difference in student achievement when compared to the control group after analysis using a t-test. The t-test findings show that, at the 95 percent confidence level, the t-count value (4.249) is higher than the t-table (1.675). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the participatory learning model using critical problem-solving techniques has a significant impact on increasing students' learning achievement in physics.

Abstract

Physics is a subject that has a relatively small number of enthusiasts—caused by the factors that influence student achievement in learning physics, which are considered less attractive or do not significantly impact learning outcomes. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model on student performance in improving psychomotor aspects and student learning outcomes in physics lessons. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with the sampling technique using simple random sampling. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire filled out by the teacher during teaching and learning activities in class. The results showed that based on the theory put forward by Arikunto, the resulting percentage value was 90.4% with a good predicate based on its effectiveness in improving student performance in learning. The conclusion from this research is the high level of student performance in the learning process. Because students are required to always be active in working together to solve and make solutions to problems set by the teacher, this research is considered suitable and recommended to be applied to further studies that have constraints on students' performance and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the tensile test size of the bira tuber bioplastic with the addition of kepok banana peel starch. The method used is experimental. A tensile test was carried out with ATSM D882. The research results showed that the four samples' best tensile test added the most bira starch at 40% of 1432 N/m². The color of the resulting plastic is still clear brown because no bleach is added to the starch.

Abstract

Collisions between two objects can be analyzed using the concept of the law of momentum conservation. In the case of a collision between two objects, namely a bullet and a ball, it is necessary to analyze using a theoretical approach. This research aims to analyze the velocity and height after a collision. Newton's law of conservation of momentum and Newton's second law in friction conditions are used as the basis of Calculation analysis using analytical and numerical methods. There are air friction coefficients with variations of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5 N.s/m. This type of bullet used a 9 mm calibre with a velocity of 380 m/s. The mass of the bullet and ball is 0.008 kg and 0.3 kg, respectively. The results showed that increasing the air fraction coefficient resulted in lower velocity and height achieved by bullet and ball. The increasing discretization value makes the results of numerical calculations consistent with analytical calculations.

Abstract

In the process of heat transfer by conduction, besides the quantities in the form of surface area, length or thickness of the rod, and the temperature difference between the ends of the rod and the value of the thermal conductivity, other factors also affect the rate of heat transfer to the rod, one of which is environmental factors. As long as heat flows from the high to the low temperature, the temperature decrease is not uniform at any time interval. This is a sign of the influence of the ambient temperature for each part of the material. Temperature observations were carried out experimentally in an open environment in the laboratory and then compared with the results of numerical calculations as the ideal condition for the heat conduction process. The Boltzmann transport equation for the induction process on metal rods is solved using finite differences with an explicit method to obtain the temperature distribution. The results showed differences in the temperature distribution pattern of copper rods with numerical calculations and experiments. This difference is caused by the amount of heat released into the environment. The higher the temperature at the observation point, the greater the heat released into the atmosphere.

Abstract

This article aims to describe philosophically related to Constructivism-Based Science Practicum. This article uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Information was obtained based on observations, experience, and a literature review from several journal literature. Philosophical studies can strengthen ontology related to the nature of constructivism-based science practicum, a science practicum that leads to constructing students' thinking so that knowledge, skills, and attitudes are increasing. Epistemologically (usefulness), constructivism-based science practicum can improve students' concepts and skills in understanding science concepts. Axiologically (Universal values) constructivism-based science practicum can be obtained from science practicum activities that shape scientific attitudes and behaviour in general.

Abstract

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) stock price dynamics have been modeled by a quantum anharmonic oscillator and the PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) Algorithm. Some of the constants that affect the probability density of return are the ability of the market makers to control the market (γ), the behaviour of contrarians and the trend followers to the price return (c), and the investor behaviour towards perceived volatility (k). The simulation results have produced the slightest error of the JCI at 8.36% for the opportunity density and 3.6% for the stock price returns. Forward prediction for the next three months using the exponential smoothing method resulted in a 17.77% error in the opportunity density of the stock price return and a 10.6% error in the stock price return. Based on those results, it can be concluded that the stock price dynamics can be modelled using an anharmonic quantum oscillator where the value of liquidity and volatility in the previous period affects the investor and the stock's price return in the next period.
