Abstract

Voice as a form of constructive expression in improving organizational functions and effectiveness has received great attention, especially in studies that explain the antecedents and consequences of employees’ voices. However, studies that explain psychometric properties of employee voice measurements are still limited. This article aimed to examine the psychometric properties, particularly construct validity, of employee voice measurement. In Study 1, three employee voice instruments were found through literature review from 23 articles in the last five years (2013-2018) from EBSCOhost and Proquest databases. In Study 2, based on the results of the literature review, the sound psychometric property test was carried out using confirmatory factor analysis. The results of data analysis prove that the Employee Voice scale of Liang, Farh, and Farh (2012) is an appropriate model for measuring employee voices with good validity and reliability.

Abstract

AbstractHardiness is a character that can influence how individual views their stress and determines an efefctive response towards stress. This study aims to explore the hardiness of college students who were also enterpreneurs. This study used a qualitative-case study method that applied observation and interview methods to collect data. Two undergraduate students joined the study. They started their businesses since they were a freshman and their bussinesses were still well-maintained until the time of study. The results showed that hardiness plays important role in dealing with stressful events due to their double roles as a student as well as an enterpreneur. These enterpreneur students could apply effective coping strategies to solve various problems. Hardiness enables individual to have opportunities to control their lives, to be more energic and enthusiastic, to be more involved in all things they do, and believes that they are ebale to make changes in a positive ways. Hardiness convinced these enterpreneur students to take enterpreneurship as their life path and encouraged them to make efforts to grow their businesses.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to verify the correlation between Coworker Support and Career Commitment on Teachers in Private High Schools of Department of Education, Youth and Sport. There are two scales used in this research, i.e. Coworker Support Scale and Career Commitment Scale. The participants of this research are 60 teachers of private high schools in Salatiga, Indonesia. Data analysis used in this research is Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The result of data analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between Coworker Support and Career Commitment on Teachers in Private High Schools of Department of Education, Youth and Sport of Salatiga (r = .541; p < .05).

Abstract

Matematika merupakan salah satu mata pelajaran yang dianggap momok bagi sebagianpelajar, termasuk siswa SMP. Anggapan negatif tersebut semakin berkembang dengan adanyakenaikan standar kelulusan, khususnya untuk nilai matematika, yang enyebabkan banyak siswatidak lulus pada tahun 2004. Salah satu faktor yang dapat berpengaruh buruk terhadap prestasimatematika siswa adalah kecemasan. Kecemasan itu sendiri muncul karena berbagai sebab, salahsatunya situasi belajar yang menekan. Guru memegang peranan penting dalam mencari alternatifuntuk mengatasi kecemasan siswa, seperti dengan menciptakan situasi belajar yang terstruktur,menyenangkan, dan dapat memberikan rasa aman bagi siswa. Cooperative Learning didugaefektif untuk mengatasi kecemasan siswa dalam menghadapi pelajaran matematika. CooperativeLearning merupakan metode belajar kelompok yang terstruktur, dengan pengelolaan kelas,penataan ruang kelas, dan teknik-teknik mengajar tertentu.Karakteristik subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas dua, skor kecemasan dalammenghadapi pelajaran matematika tinggi, siswa belum pernah diberi materi belajar matematikadengan metode Cooperative Learning, siswa tidak sedang mengikuti pelajaran/kursus/lesmatematika diluar jam sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain non-randomized controlgroup pretest-posttest design. Pemilihan subjek menggunakan metode pair matching (padanansepasang) berdasarkan hasil pretest skala kecemasan siswa dalam menghadapi pelajaranmatematika. Subjek penelitian pada kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol masing-masingberjumlah 16 orang. Pengambilan datadilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi, pengisian skala kecemasan siswa dalam menghadapipelajaran matematika, dokumentasi, dan tes berupa ulangan matematika.Hasil pengujian hipotesis yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik IndependentSample T Test menghasilkan perbedaan mean sebesar 12,63 dengan p=0,003 (p<0,05). Hasiltersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan skor kecemasan siswa dalammenghadapi pelajaran matematika kelompok eksperimen yang mendapat perlakuan berupabelajar matematika dengan metode Cooperative Learning dan kelompok kontrol yang tidakmendapat perlakuan.Kata Kunci : Kecemasan dalam menghadapi pelajaran matematika, Cooperative Learning, siswa SMP.

Abstract

Affective commitment or emotional self-involvement in the organization was the willingness of employees to do their best for the organization benefit. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between affective commitment with customer service orientation. The population in this study were employees of Company "X" in Semarang. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. Data analysis using simple regression indicate that there was a positive and significant relationship between affective commitment with customer service orientation coefficient (r = 0.516; p < .001). These results prove that the hypothesis was accepted. The higher the affective commitment will be followed with the higher salesperson’s customer service orientation. Conversely, the lower the affective commitment will be followed with the lower the salesperson’s customer service orientation.

Abstract

Mahasiswa sebagai sumber daya manusia Indonesia sangat dibutuhkan ide dan pendapatnya untuk membangun negeri ini. Kualitas SDM ini sangat terkait dengan minat membaca yang dimiliki mahasiswa. Kebiasaan membaca tidak hanya berkaitan dengan proses belajar mengajar saja, tetapi juga dapat membentuk kepribadian individu dengan menghayati hasil bacaannya Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses terjadi minat membaca, lama membaca dan jenis bacaan dipilih, manfaat membaca dan cara mahasiswa mengekspresikan minat membacanya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei deskriptif dengan melibatkan mahasiswa semester 1 sebanyak 92 orang. Sebagian besar partisipan mempunyai kebiasaan membaca yang lebih didominasi jenis bacaan novel. Kebiasaan bermain game online dan melihat TV mampu menghalangi minat membaca mahasiswa.Kata kunci: mahasiswa, minat membaca, survei deskriptifPermalink :

Abstract

Children with intellectual disability (ID) have deficit in their adaptive functions, such as self-care in practical domain. The skill of self-care in moderate ID children can develop after being trained, although it takes a long time. One of skills that can be developed is urination skill. Urination skill is important to teach on children with ID so they can maintain their genital organs health independently. Therefore, interventions related to urination skill using behavior modification program with total task presentation technique are required. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of total task presentation technique to increase urination skill on child with moderate ID. This study used a single case subject A-B design that used to find changes in scores by comparing behavior observation data of participant’s urination skill and make a data analysis. Participant in this study was a 10 years old boy who has deficit in urination skill. After the implementation of the intervention program in 16 sessions for 14 days with 81 trials, it was found that the total task presentation technique is effective to improve urination skill on a child with moderate ID. The participants has been able to take control the entire range of urinating behavior (22 chain of behaviors) independently. Previously, the child could only controlled the nine chain of behaviors independently.

Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this study is to investigate the correlations between empathy, friendship, and adversity intelligence on undergraduate students who were in the stage of thesis writing (skripsi). Adversity intelligence is defined as person’s ability to overcome barriers and life challenges. The study sample comprised 74 ndergraduate students whom, at the time of study, were in the stage of thesis riting. They were approached using a purposive random sampling. Data were collected using Empathy scale, Friendships Scale, and Adversity Intelligence Scale. The results of simple regression analysis revealed a positive and significant orrelation between empathy, friendships, and adversity intelligence on subjects (r = 0,165; p = 0,001). Ability to develop empathy and to make new friends contributed to the development of students’ adversity intelligence. By developing social interaction, students learn to position themselves in dealing with problems; riendships creates intimacy, support, learning from previous mistakes and new experiences to overcome barriers, particularly on these final-yearstudents.

Abstract

The study was aimed to identify bullying behavior in students from various levels of education. This study presented bullying patterns in every level of education like bullying forms, involvement of other parties (friends and teachers) to bullying behavior. The study was conducted to 567 students (95 elementary school students, 200 junior high school students, 134 senior high school students, and 138 college students) The samples were taken from schools and universities located in Tembalang and Banyumanik Semarang. Samples were determined using stratified random sampling technique. Bullying data was obtained from Bullying Experience for Students Questionnaire. The descriptive analysis result concluded that most of students have experienced bullying. Students who receive the most bullying are elementary school students (n = 78; 82.98%). For elementary school students, unpleasant treatments are most often occurs in the classroom and school yard. In college students, unpleasant treatments are most often occurs in the cafeteria and outside the campus. The higher the education level, the percentage of subjects reporting decreases (SD= 60.22%; SMP= 12.36%; SMA= 6.80% dan PT= 5.26%). At all levels of education, most subjects did something when bullying happened to their friend. The percentage of subjects who had conducted bullying a friend at various levels of education is quite high. At the high school level, the percentage is highest, reaching 70%.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between goal orientation and subjective well-being in the elderly, which includes psychological well-being, emotional well-being and social well-being. The research subjects consisted of 90 elderly from the elderly group Adi Yuswo and Wulandaru Semarang obtained through simple random sampling. The data were obtained using a measuring instrument goal orientation (18 items, α = .87), psychological well-being (33 items, α = .92), social well-being (33 items, α = .93), and emotional well-being (18 items, α = .95). Measurements were made using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with Linear Structural Relations program (lisrel) 8.80. The analysis showed that the model of goal orientation influence on subjective well being appropriate to the research subject. Subject used their own goal orientation to acquire information, knowledge, insight and new experiences through the association that they follow (knowledge related goal) in addition to obtaining emotional well being. Goal orientation then significant influence to form an overall positive evaluation of the self (subjective well-being), particularly to emerge social acceptance and social actualization (social well being) in individuals aside form the psychological well being and emotional well being.
