This article reports development of new scale to measure entrepreneurial characters. Entrepreneurial Characters Scale (SK-WIRA) measures personality traits indicating a person’s capacity to engage in entrepreneurial activity and can be used to study tendency and suitability to work as entrepreneur. In preliminary study, entrepreneurial character is operationalized based on concepts found in literatures: achievement motivation, innovativeness, risk taking, and autonomy. Four SK-WIRA subscales were constructed according to those dimensions. In phase 1 item selection, exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis were applied. Initial set of SK-WIRA constituted of 40-48 items per subscale was administered to university students (N = 130). It is found that items were not clustered based on the theory, but item types (favorable-unfavorable). Therefore, it is predicted that entrepreneurial characters and non-entrepreneurial characters are probably two different constructs and need to be measured using different tools. Final compilation of SK-WIRA consists only 22 items (all is favorable items) with good internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = .863). Phase 2 construct validity test using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) confirms that SK-WIRA consists of four correlated factors. The examination of scale internal structure shows good model fit (c2/df = 244.077/205; RMSEA = .038; CFI = .943; TLI = .936; SRMR = .069).

This research aimed to find out whether variables need for achievement and students stress having correlation with variable academic procrastination. Hypotheses proposed were there’s negative correlation between need for achievement and academic procrastination by controlling variable student stress and student stress is having positive correlation with academic procrastination by controlling need for achievement. Data collected through need for achievement scale, student stress scale and academic procrastination scale. 112 students of UII were involved in this study. Data analyzed by partial correlation has proved that need for achievement is having negative correlation with r score was – 0.5508 with p level at <0.01, meanwhile the students stress didn’t have correlation with academic procrastination with r -0.0153 with p level at > 0.05. Keywords: need for achievement, students stress, academic procrastination

The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between self-concept and tendency to become bully victim in early adolescents. Bullying is an act in which a person or group try to hurt, damage, oppress or do other negative actions to someone who is weak. Bullying occurs repeatedly time to time and will continue to occur if there is someone who feels having power (called as actors) and someone who feels weak (called as victims). Those could happen due to the imbalance in their development of self-concept. This study is a survey research. The subjects were 179 students in Junior High School in Surabaya (67 males and 112 females) with age ranged from 12 to 14 years old. Data were collected using the Self-Concept Questionnaire (20 items) and Bully Victim Questionnaire (16 items). Data were analyzed using Pearson's product moment. The results of this study found a negative correlation between self-concept and the tendency to be bully victim in early adolescence (r= -.772; p< .001). Negative correlation had meaning that adolescents with positive self-concept were less vulnerable to be bully victim, while adolescents with negative self-concept would tend to be bully victim. It is recommended for further research to employ better methods, theories and measuring tools. Â

The research is aimed to determine the correlation between job satisfaction, need for achievement, and dispositional resistance to change in a sample of 224 Diponegoro University lectures. The participants/ subjects are given three scales: job satisfaction scale, need for achievement scale and dispositional resistance to change scale. The results show a significant negative correlation between job satisfaction, need for achievement and dispositional resistance to change. The contribution of job satisfaction and need for achievement in predicting dispositional resistance to change is 24.9%.Keywords: job satisfaction, need for achievement, dispositional resistance to changePermalink :

Using a scale in different cultural contexts requires an adaptation process for the sake of fair comparison between obtained scores. The 9-item version of Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9) has been adapted in various countries but Indonesia. This study aimed to make a scale adaptation of the UWES-9 in Indonesia. A hundred teachers of inclusive schools in Solo, Semarang, Surabaya, and Malang were involved as participants. Data were collected both online and paper-based. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Rasch test were used to analyze the data. Result showed that the UWES-9 had high values of: overall person and item interaction (α= .85); person reliability (= .71); and item reliability (= .95). The person measure value (=1.65 logit) and separation value 1.57 indicated two respondent groups based on the degree of work engagement. The item 5 had outfit value MNSQ > 14, meaning that it was unfit. Some items were found biased toward teaching duration in inclusive school. Internal structure analysis using CFA showed that UWES-9 is a unidimensional instrument with established goodness of fit value (RMSEA = .049; CFI, NFI, & GFI > .95). To conclude, UWES-9 has adequate psychometric properties, so it can be used for research or assessment.

Two women diagnosed with uterine myoma participated in this study.Interview and observation were used to collect data. The findings showed that women affected uterine myomahad optimism and pessimism fluctuated. Optimism happened after they experienced particular events thatchanged their perscpective. Optimism empowered subjects to cope with uterine myoma. Factors that influencetheir optimism were social support received from family and others, sharing similar experience from otheraffected women, and religiosity. Optimism was also shown through their coping strategies in dealing with uterinemyoma: seeking information, following treatment, applying nutrition diet, and maintaining health status.

Child molestation was a form of child exploitation which gets serious concern from Indonesian government. A number of literatures has been investigated on traumatic effect of child predatory among children. However, study which explored child molester’s lived experience was still limited. This study aims to understand the lived experience of child molester after being sentenced. Three prisoners of Correctional Institution Kedungpane Semarang Indonesia were interviewed using semi-structured interview. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis, data were analyzed. Four superordinate themes emerged from analysis: (1) failure to resolve conflicts with victim’s family, (2) disappointment of case disclosure, (3) attempt to escape severe punishment, and (4) effort to accept sentence. This result showed the need to find more effective strategy to help prisoners understand the effect of their behavior to children. Some suggestions to improve insight process among child molesters were also proposed.

The aim of this research is to describe about students who active in W organization of Diponegoro University concerned with their role and status as student and member of its organization. This research had done to two subjects of W organization members. This research uses a case study qualitative research method and using descriptive data analizing technique. The result of research shows that learning strategy that use by those subjects could be categorized as surface learning approaches. Those subjects would like and easy to do the organization assignment although they delay assignment conveniently than academic assignment. Those subjects prefer to do assignment close to the deadline and often cheat their friends’ assignment. The attendances of subjects in learning activities were less and they often order to their friend to fill the attendance list. Academic achievement of those subjects has decrease, expecially in the third grade. W organization has important to those subjects, because they get some advantages, include new environment, learning and refreshing environment, and expand the communication network. Keywords: Learning stratgey, students, natural lovers’ organization
