Journal Esteem publishes academic articles that recognize successful engaged learning depends on effective partnerships between students, faculty, community agencies, administrators, disciplines, and more. The journal invites submission of 1) Research that emanates from or informs campus-community partnerships; 2) Studies co-authored by faculty, students, and/or community partners; 3) Literature and Teaching English as Foreign Language; and 4) Commentary on emerging trends, developments, and/or challenges. <![CDATA[This study aims to describe the innovation and obstacles of Implementation Merdeka Belajar Curriculum at junior high school number 7 of Palembang. This type of research is qualitative in a descriptive way. The key research instruments are observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The data source for this research is the results of interviews with the assistant principal of academic affairs and curriculum sector as well as 10 teachers who teach using the Merdeka Belajar curriculum. The results found by researchers are : 1). Innovation from the implementation of Merdeka Belajar Curriculum at Junior High School Number 7 of Palembang has been running and implemented in accordance with the content of merdeka belajar curriculum, which focuses on the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile Project (P5). An innovative project of an independent school curriculum is called "Merdeka dari Sampah", 2). The implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum at Junior High School Number 7 of Palembang is very effective for teachers and students, 3). There are no obstacles to implementing the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum at Junior High School Number 7 of Palembang.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this research is to find out the Use of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) Technology in English classes. The problem of this research is how was the use of mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) technology in English classes. The method in this study is a qualitative method. Research techniques are carried out by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. Interviews were conducted with English teachers who teach in class VII.I. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Penukal. The results of the study stated that based on the results of the documentation obtained from the data of students who had carried out WhatsApp group activities in semester 1, and data on students who are doing WhatsApp groups in semester 2 when viewed from the results, self-management and students' motivation are very strong in conducting WhatsApp group learning, students are very active in WhatsApp groups activities, because this was done during a pandemic, until now finally the use of cellular technology is still being implemented at SMP Negeri 2 Penukal. Thus the use of mobile technology is very important to be applied in schools as a medium of distance learning. Makes it easier for teachers to give assignments to students, and control students to be more active in learning.]]>

<![CDATA[The goal of this study is to find out what student teachers think about the benefits of the Microteaching Lesson for Teaching Ability at PGRI Palembang University. The study's team of researchers used a qualitative descriptive strategy. There are 30 sixth-semester English education student teachers as the participants. Data collection techniques included observation, interview, questionnair, and documentation. In order to collect data, the researcher interviewed 30 student teachers to learn more about five different issues. She then gave a questionnaire containing 15 statements to 30 student teachers. The findings of the questionnaire showed that students believed that microteaching had a beneficial effect on their capacity to instruct. Based on the results of the interviews, the researcher also came to the conclusion that the narrative presentations of the students demonstrated how their perceptions of the microteaching course affected their teaching strategies. Students think that by taking part in microteaching, they will be able to improve their teaching abilities through lesson preparation, content explanation, time-management, and teaching self-confidence abilities. <![CDATA[This study, which includes an English tutor and 30 students in the third semester of the class PPB IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, aims to portray tutors’ tactics in teaching speaking to PPB IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon and recognize the effects of strategies used by the English tutors. To determine the speaking instruction methodologies, interviews, and classroom observations were undertaken as part of the data collection. The outcome showed that the tutors’ methods included drills, role-plays, speaking lines, and discussions. As a result of the teacher's speaking techniques, pupils get more engaged in their studies, develop more optimistic outlooks, and become more motivated. Almost all of the students prefer the speaking lines as the method of teaching speaking among the three tactics used by the teacher because they believe it can enhance their speaking skills, increase their desire to talk and make the teaching-learning process more enjoyable.]]>

<![CDATA[This qualitative case study aimed to explore students' insights of practicing English speaking through participation in an English-speaking club. The three student participants in this research were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Research data were collected through semi-structured interviews using open-ended questions. Thematic analysis was then employed to analyze the data. The findings indicated that participating in the English-speaking club helps students get a supportive environment for practicing their English-speaking skills through conversation, presentation, speech, storytelling, debate, and other various speaking activities. They experience fellowship and friendship among club members, receive moral and emotional support for their views and opinions, gain more confidence and encouragement to speak English, have more opportunities to express their ideas and thoughts in English, develop their English vocabulary and expressions, receive feedback and corrections from fellow members, and have fun with their English speaking practices.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to determine the factors that cause the level of difficulty in writing short stories in class V English at SD Negeri 06 Sungai Pinang and efforts to overcome them. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research with the research object being a small scope which is the focus of the research. Based on the description of the results of research analysis carried out in class V of SD Negeri 06 Sungai Pinang, from the results of observations it is known that class V students of SD Negeri 06 Sungai Pinang are still relatively low in writing short stories. This is caused by internal and external factors of students. Efforts made to overcome students' difficulties in writing short stories are by providing additional hours for students who have difficulty writing.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to determine the effect of the Course Review Horay learning model using video media on science learning outcomes for class IV at SD Negeri 43 Palembang. This research uses an experimental method with a quasi-experimental design, namely nonequivalent control group design. The population in this research was 42 class IV students and the research sample of 42 was taken using a nonprobability sampling technique. Data collection used tests with data analysis using the Independent Sample t Test with the help of SPSS version 25. The results of the study showed that there was an influence of the course review horay learning model on the science learning outcomes of class 4 students at SD Negeri 43 Palembang. In the Independent Sample t Test testing was obtained. Sig value (2-tailed) 0.020 < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the use of the Horay course review model on the science learning outcomes of class IV at SD Negeri 43 Palembang]]>

<![CDATA[Despite the benefits technology brings to English learning at school, few teachers were still taking advantage of it. Not only was the iPad was a learning medium with short and medium-term used, it also serves as a device that helps improved student education. The objective of the research is to identify the types of the English teachers attitude towards iPad in teaching and learning processes. However, a descriptive qualitative study was conducted to investigate the attitude of English teachers towards iPad in teaching and learning process at IT Harapan Mulya Junior in Palembang. Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data. Data analysis was processed in the form of reduction data, display data, and conclusion drawing and verification data. The results showed that the English teachers provided 90 utterances consisting of 31 cognitive attitudes, 26 conative attitudes, 24 affective attitudes, and 9 evaluative attitudes. Cognitive attitudes was most often exhibited by the teachers. While the lowest was the evaluative attitude.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to evaluate the impact of implementing the Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) model on the achievement of English language learning for grade IV students at SD Negeri 201 Palembang. The background to this research arises from the tendency for the learning process to be teacher-centered (one way or conventional), causing low student interest and resulting in unsatisfactory learning outcomes in class IV SD Negeri 201 Palembang. The research method used is quantitative with Quasi Experimental Design and Non-equivalent Control Group Design. Sampling was carried out using a total sampling technique on 35 class IV students at SD Negeri 201 Palembang. The results of the t-test (Independent Sample t-test) show a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.001 < 0.005, so Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. The conclusion that can be drawn is that the application of the Task-Based Language Teaching learning model has a significant effect on the English learning outcomes of class IV students at SD Negeri 201 Palembang.]]>

<![CDATA[This thesis discusses the relationship between interest in reading and self-confidence towards the literacy abilities of elementary school students. This research aims to determine the relationship between interest in reading and self-confidence on the English literacy skills of elementary school students. This type of research is correlational research using quantitative methodology, the subjects of this research are class IV students at SD Negeri 231 Palembang, the sample is class IV.C. The results of the research were multiple correlation regression tests to obtain how big the relationship between independence (interest reading and self-confidence) on the dependent variable (English literacy ability) elementary school students who are at a very strong level because they obtained a score of 0.882. Then the F test of the hypothesis shows that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted because the calculated F hypothesis = 25.975 > F table = 3.385 and the significant value is 0.000 < 0.05. The magnitude of the contribution between interest in reading and self-confidence on the English literacy skills of elementary school students using the determinant coefficient test obtained a result of 67.5%, while the rest was influenced by other factors.]]>
