Abstract

Indonesia is currently in the midst of Industrial Revolution 4.0. This indicates that the development of the Internet, the latest technologies, artificial intelligence and nanotechnology should be initiated by people of high character and harmony within society. People are constantly growing and always adapting to existing changes. To cope with this, we humans, as creators or users of revolutions, are expected to support scientific thinking activities. Abstract

The advancement of technology has provided students with numerous opportunities to explore various media that can assist them in acquiring English as a target language. This study aims to examine the progress of students' speaking skills after being taught using Vlog as a teaching medium at SMK Muhammadiyah Pagaralam. The participants in this study were tenth-grade students from SMK Muhammadiyah Pagaralam. A quasi-experimental design was employed for this research. The instruments utilized in this study included an oral test administered before and after the treatment. The data analysis results demonstrated that the students exhibited improved speaking skills after being taught using vlogs as a teaching medium. In conclusion, vlogs proved to be an effective medium for enhancing students' speaking achievements at SMK Muhammadiyah Pagaralam.

Abstract

The aims of this research was to determine students' perceptions of the effectiveness of learning reading by using electronic books (E-books). The formulation of the problem in this research is focused on what is the students' perception about the effectiveness learning reading by using electronic books (E-books). This research used descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected by triangulation, namely observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results of the data showed that students' perceptions about the effectiveness of learning reading by using electronic books (E-books) provide a good perception. Electronic books (E-books) are good learning media to be applied to students to help students learn to be more independent.

Abstract

The learning process requires supportive elements, such as reading materials, to be effective. Providing appropriate reading materials involves adjusting the learning environment and considering the characteristics of the students. This enables teachers to motivate and guide students in constructing their language skills. Additionally, as a resident of Palembang, it is important to learn about cultural heritage to preserve the local culture. Songket, a traditional textile originating from Palembang, is one such cultural heritage. Utilising a booklet as a medium to convey information about Songket to students can enhance teaching and learning activities. The objective of this research was to develop reading materials for students by transcribing a Songket video. The researcher employed the Research and Methodology (R&D) method, as modified by Sukmadinata (2015). Data were collected through documentation and interviews. In the limited trial phase, the results indicated that the booklet required revisions in terms of content and design. Experts provided feedback to address inaccuracies in the content and grammatical errors and suggested adding the writer's information and the institution logo to the booklet. In the wider trial phase, experts recommended including additional information about Songket in the booklet before accepting it for printing as reading material. After incorporating all the necessary changes based on the feedback received, the writer concluded that the final product was accepted as suitable reading material for students, providing concise information about Palembang's Songket tradition.

Abstract

This development research aims to produce teaching materials that are valid, practical and have potential effects for fifth grade elementary school students. This research uses the type of development research (research and development). The development model in this study refers to the ADDIE model which consists of the analyze stage, the design stage, the development stage, the implementation stage and the evaluation stage. The collection of research data was obtained from validation sheets, student response questionnaires and tests. The results of the study of teaching materials for writing short stories based on the savi approach for fifth grade students based on a team expert validation questionnaire assessing in terms of media appearance, presentation of material and use of language as a whole obtained a percentage score of 95, 8% with a very valid category and suitable for use at the trial stage. The results of the One To One questionnaire obtained a percentage score of 91.6% in the very practical category and the results of the Small Group questionnaire obtained a percentage score of 93.4% in the very practical category. Then the results of student tests using teaching materials obtained a percentage of 84.60% in the very effective potential category. Based on the results developed by the researcher it was concluded that the Development of Short Story Writing Teaching Materials Based on the Savi Approach (Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, Intellectualy) for Grade V Elementary School Students meets the valid, practical, potential effect criteria and is appropriate for use in the process of learning Indonesian short story material.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate students' perceptions of their reading skills in novels on the Wattpad application. The research method employed a mixed-method approach, utilising questionnaires, interviews, and documentation to collect data. The population of the study consisted of 11th-grade students at PGRI Senior High School 2 in Palembang. The sample for this study was XI MIPA 1, comprising 36 students from PGRI Senior High School 2 in Palembang. The majority of students (64.7%) fell into the "Good" category based on their responses to the questionnaires. The results of the study revealed that 9 students were classified as "Very Good," 19 students as "Good," 8 students as "Bad," and no students fell into the "Very Bad" category. Based on the students' scores, it can be concluded that the use of the Wattpad application was effective in improving student learning outcomes. This indicates that the Wattpad application was highly beneficial for students, as it provided ample opportunities for them to learn English.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to examine the influence of online game addiction on the learning motivation of fourth-grade children. Specifically, the research focuses on investigating the impact of online game addiction on the enthusiasm for learning among fourth graders at SDN 1 Bubusan. The study involves fourth-grade students, class teachers, and parents of students who are addicted to online games at the mentioned school. A descriptive-qualitative research method is employed, and data collection techniques include observations, interviews, and questionnaires. Classroom sessions were observed to witness teachers delivering learning materials, and interviews were conducted with students, parents, and class teachers. Additionally, students completed questionnaires to gather their perspectives. Data analysis consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings of this study reveal that online game addiction among children has a detrimental impact on their enthusiasm for learning. It leads to decreased motivation to study and a lack of attentiveness towards teachers' explanations of learning materials.

Abstract

This study focuses on the challenges faced by students learning English during the era of the Industrial Revolution. It has two main objectives: 1) to explore how teachers implement the Quipper application for English instruction in the context of Industrial Revolution 5.0; and 2) to identify the challenges experienced by both students and teachers. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, employing observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection methods. The analysis of the findings indicates that the teacher effectively utilises the Quipper application as a teaching tool for English, aligning with lesson plans and previous studies. The challenges faced by students and teachers in the industrial revolution era are influenced by various internal and external factors, particularly the level of interest and motivation. These factors can affect both students and teachers alike. Additionally, a slow internet connection emerges as a significant challenge not only for students but also for teachers in the teaching-learning process during the era of Industrial Revolution 5.0.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the impact of utilizing cliff board media on student learning outcomes in a first-grade class at SDN Rawadadi. The research method employed was experimental research, specifically utilizing a Pre-Experimental Design known as the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population for this study consisted of 20 first-grade students at SDN Rawadadi, and the entire population was selected as the sample. The results of the calculations indicated a T-count value of 5.748, which is greater than the T-table value of 1.734 in the T-test sample. Furthermore, the sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000, which is less than 0.05, meeting the prerequisites for hypothesis testing. Therefore, the hypothesis was accepted. Based on the hypothesis testing data, it can be concluded that the utilization of cliff board media has a significant impact on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the effects and advantages experienced by teachers and students when utilizing interactive animation. The research problem in this study focused on the perceptions of teachers and students regarding the impact of interactive animation on enhancing students' abilities as well as the benefits associated with its use. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method, and data was gathered through triangulation using questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The data analysis revealed that animated videos facilitated easier comprehension of narrative texts for students. The videos effectively portrayed moving objects accompanied by sound, captivating students' attention and fostering their enthusiasm during the learning process. The students demonstrated active engagement and attentiveness to the storyline. Utilizing animated videos as a teaching tool for narrative texts was found to be an effective approach. Finally, it is essential for teachers to address the basic English skills of their students as they navigate the challenges associated with this teaching method.
