Abstract

Promoting tolerance is vital to reduce prejudice and discrimination towards outgroups. Therefore, family and school are essential in encouraging children's tolerance as an immediate environment. This literature review provides an overview of the role of family and school in promoting tolerance in children to reduce prejudice toward outgroups. We used the standard systematic literature review method employing a manual search of articles through the keywords, i.e., children, family, school, prejudice, and tolerance. The data source was obtained online using ProQuest, Taylor & Francis (Social Sciences & Humanities Subject), and Ebscohost. There are 41 articles included in quality appraisal using the qualitative assessment. We concluded that family and school, as an immediate environment of child development, are essential in promoting tolerance to prevent negative prejudice towards outgroups. This literature review may have implications, especially for the family and school environment, in enhancing children's tolerant attitude as early as possible over several activities to increase knowledge about their outgroups.

Abstract

Someone hardworking will be able to adapt to various challenging situations. They have self-control and commitment to achieve their goals. Therefore, the values of hardiness need to be instilled in children’s early childhood to make them grow up to be individuals with high fighting spirits and be able to face difficulties and unpleasant situations. This study aims to determine the effect of storytelling on the development of hardiness traits in early childhood children. This research used an untreated control group design with dependent pretest and post-test samples. The study participants were 20 children between 5 and 6 years old. They were divided into control and experimental groups, consisting of consistent. The research used 12 colored pictures sized 21cm-14.5cm as the instruments. Those instruments were arranged based on aspects and indicators of hardiness. Data analysis used Anava mixed design, showing that storytelling could form hardiness. Children in the experimental group had a higher understanding of hardiness than children in the control group. Based on the result, the researcher suggests parents and teachers consistently instill complex values in early childhood children through storytelling.

Abstract

This study involved a mindful parenting training program to reduce parenting stress levels in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The research design utilized a quasi-experimental perspective, involving 20 parents of children aged 12-18 years who had received an ASD diagnosis at least two years prior. Parenting stress levels are evaluated by comparing pre-test, post-test, and follow-up scores using the Parenting Stress Index (PSI). The studies showed a noteworthy reduction in parenting stress after mindful parenting training. Furthermore, analysis of qualitative data suggested that parents of children with ASD exhibited enhancements in self-regulation, mindfulness, acceptance of their parental roles, more adaptive emotional responses, decreased stress, and improved mental well-being.

Abstract

Observation is among the primary methods and tools used for data collection. It allows the researchers to do so when the data are generated in the real world and participate in the process as participant observers. In this line, the researcher records what he notices. Therefore, the observation is mainly related to the qualitative research and data. Nevertheless, the quantitative indices are a form of observation at the superficial level. It is also better to link the observation with the quantitative research design. This study aims to contribute to the understanding of observation in scientific research due to the low use of this technique in educational and psychological scientific research. Thus, the researcher carried out a theoretical reading of this tool and used the clinical method by presenting a practical model of observation to diagnose the psychological and educational issues in the school milieu. In this context, we studied a case that showed aggressive behaviors and relied on other tools to help diagnose the problem, such as the Harris Good-Enough test of man drawing and the scale of measuring learning disabilities made by Maamria Bashir in 2005. Findings show the efficiency of the observation in diagnosing the problem of aggressive behavior in the school milieu. Based on the results, we provided a set of recommendations and suggestions.

Abstract

Prisoners spend a certain period in prison and must live in institutions with minimal activities. The longer the punishment period, the higher the stress conditions experienced by prisoners. The purpose of this research is to describe the coping stress strategies used by the inmates of unplanned murder at the Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Perempuan Kelas IIA Semarang. This research uses qualitative methods with a case study approach. Participants in this research were selected based on the purposive sampling technique; the selected participants were three female inmates of unplanned murder at the Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Perempuan Kelas IIA Semarang who were sentenced to more than 15 years. The research found that emotion-focused coping is a stress-coping strategy used more often than problem-focused coping. This is because of the minimal resources and the conditions of the demands of punishment in the prison, making the subject unable to cope with existing stressors directly. Subjects who are stressed and able to cope with it feel relieved, glad, optimistic, happy, and more motivated to pass their period of punishment.

Abstract

The current Islamic psychotherapy model has developed a lot and effectively overcame various human problems. One type of study of Islamic psychotherapy is prophetic psychotherapy. This study aims to examine and analyze the concept of prophetic psychotherapy, which is a part of Islamic psychotherapy. Studies on prophetic psychotherapy are still restricted, so implementation in psychotherapy practice is not yet felt. Therefore, this research is essential to discuss the study of prophetic psychotherapy from various sources so that it can become a reference for developing the field of study of prophetic psychotherapy that many groups can utilize. This research collects multiple sources of literature that are relevant to search media from digital platforms. The collected data will be analyzed using the PRIMA flowchart and charting data to describe the concept and study of prophetic psychotherapy fully; more specifically, this study will discuss the study of prophetic psychotherapy as a method of Islamic helping relationships. The literature sampling technique used is a scoping review, namely categorizing relevant articles, making concept maps, and analyzing the review results. The study results show that Islamic psychology has a broad scope, not only in the context of psychotherapy but also in counseling. Prophetic counseling and psychotherapy have basic principles in applying interventions: recitations, tazkiyah, Salim, uswah Hashanah, and awareness. These basic principles can be used by individuals so that they can increase their faith, moral understanding, and psychological well-being, become a whole person, and submit to Allah SWT.

Abstract

In this study, 115 participants were randomly chosen using a lottery system. Three research instruments, including a social support instrument with 32 valid items and a reliability coefficient of 0.769, were used to compile the study's findings on a Likert scale. Cronbach's alpha for the 26 self-compassion instrument items is 92. There were 15 legitimate elements included in the performance instrument, and its reliability coefficient was 0.878. Concurrent findings from two tests, with a Fcount of 5.203 (Fcount>Ftable) and a 0.007 significance level. These findings suggest a causal link between school counselors' social support and self-compassion and their effectiveness. The values (r) 0.437 and 0.243 with significance (p 0.007) and (p 0.009) demonstrate a favorable association between social support and performance and self-compassion to the performance, respectively. With an R2 of 0.298, we can say that social support and self-compassion contribute effectively to performance by 29.8 percent. With an adequate contribution of 21.4% for social support and just 8.4% for self-compassion, it is clear that social support has a stronger association with performance. This study found that school counselors in Central Jakarta who reported higher levels of social support and self-compassion also reported better levels of job satisfaction.
