Abstract

This study aimed to assess the effect of closure skills on vocabulary acquisition in teaching methods courses for fourth-year sport education students at the Institute of Sport Education in Zakho. The research addressed the gap in literature regarding the impact of closure techniques on specialized vocabulary learning in sport education teacher preparation. An experimental design was employed with 44 students divided into two experimental groups (teacher-led and student-led closure) and one control group. The educational program consisted of 12 instructional units focusing on command, basic positions, and derived positions in sport exercises. Data were collected through achievement tests and analyzed using ANOVA and t-tests. Findings revealed that both teacher-led and student-led closure skills significantly enhanced vocabulary acquisition compared to traditional methods, with no statistically significant difference between the two experimental approaches. The study demonstrated the effectiveness of closure skills in bridging the gap between content knowledge and effective teaching in sport education. These results align with broader educational research on the importance of structured reflection in learning. The comparable efficacy of teacher-led and student-led closure activities suggests flexibility in implementation for educators. Future research should explore long-term retention, technology integration in closure activities, and application across diverse sport education contexts. This study contributes to the refinement of sport education teacher preparation programs and offers insights for enhancing pedagogical practices in the field of physical education.

Abstract

Teenagers residing in orphanages typically consist of those who have experienced the loss of their family, particularly their parents due to death or separation. This is often influenced by unfavorable economic circumstances, chaotic or disharmonious family conditions, parents' limited capacity to provide care and meet their children's basic needs, and the breakdown of the family unit, resulting in diminished parental attention. Resilience may help teens overcome the challenges they confront in life. An individual's resilience is shaped by several circumstances, both external and internal. Social support is among the many external influences. This study employs a quantitative research approach, namely using correlation analysis, to ascertain the connection between social support and resilience in juvenile orphanages. The study used the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) and Social Support as the measuring tools. The data analysis strategy used in this study utilizes the Pearson product moment test to examine the correlation between two variables. The study findings indicate a notable and favorable correlation between social support and resilience in juvenile orphanages located in the city of Ambon. In order to enhance and broaden the area of study, it is desirable to perform additional studies on the same issue, specifically focusing on the variables that impact resilience in teenagers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-regulation and strategic thinking skills in students, especially in the context of decision-making in a dynamic educational environment. The background of this research departs from the need to understand the psychological factors that influence strategic thinking processes, which are increasingly important in facing complex challenges in various fields, including business and education and to prepare students as future leaders. Self-regulation, which involves an individual's ability to control emotions, behaviours, and thoughts, is believed to play a significant role in shaping effective strategic thinking skills. The research method used was a quantitative method with a sample of 238 respondents consisting of final-year students. The sampling technique was purposive random sampling. The variables involved in this study are self-regulation as an independent variable and strategic thinking ability as a dependent variable. The instrument used is a structured questionnaire that measures the two variables using a 5-point Likert scale. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between self-regulation and strategic thinking skills. Individuals with a high level of self-regulation tend to be more able to think strategically, show better analytical skills, and be more adaptive in dealing with changing situations. The development of self-regulation can be a key factor in improving strategic thinking skills, which are relevant in a variety of professional and academic contexts.

Abstract

The Dunning-Kruger Effect phenomenon has long been in the spotlight in the field of cognitive psychology, describing a paradox in which individuals with low competence tend to overestimate their abilities. This article examines the implications of this phenomenon for counselors in counseling practice through a systematic review approach. By collecting and analyzing literature from various empirical and theoretical sources, this review aims to reveal how this cognitive bias affects the process of reflection, decision-making, and the effectiveness of counseling interventions. The results of the review indicate that the Dunning-Kruger Effect not only impacts the counselor's self-perception, but also affects the therapeutic relationship with the client through self-evaluation distortion and overconfidence. The practical implications of these findings emphasize the importance of metacognitive training, clinical supervision, and critical reflection in improving the quality of counseling services. This article concludes with recommendations for further research and the development of professional training modules to reduce the impact of cognitive bias in counseling practice.

Abstract

Terminal lucidity is a phenomenon characterized by the sudden reappearance of cognitive clarity in patients with severe cognitive impairment, such as dementia, near death. This systematic study aims to examine various aspects of the terminal lucidity phenomenon, from biological mechanisms, psychosocial impacts, to spiritual dimensions, especially through the lens of an Islamic perspective. The study was conducted using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach according to the PRISMA guidelines, with an analysis of 82 open access articles from 2015 to 2024. The selection process included screening of titles, abstracts, and full texts, resulting in 40 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the analysis revealed that although biological mechanisms such as changes in neurotransmitters and brain electrical activity require further study, the terminal lucidity phenomenon has important implications for palliative care. This moment of clarity provides an opportunity for patients to communicate meaningfully and for families to say goodbye with hope. In addition to the medical aspect, terminal lucidity also reflects a significant spiritual dimension, where Islamic values interpret this phenomenon as divine intervention and a moment of final forgiveness. The findings of this study emphasize the need for a holistic approach that integrates emotional support, physical care, and spiritual guidance in end-of-life counseling. Further research is recommended to investigate the pharmacological mechanisms and the use of brain imaging technology to deepen the understanding of this phenomenon, so that the quality of patient care at the end of life can continue to be improved. This study makes an important contribution to expanding the multidisciplinary understanding of terminal lucidity and encourages the development of holistic palliative care guidelines, so that medical, psychosocial, and spiritual interventions can be optimized to accompany patients and their families to achieve a better quality of life.
