Abstract

The choice of specialization path or subject at school (SMA) is now based more on academic achievement alone, ignoring self-potential and sociographic conditions of students, making it possible for students to be confused about planning the right career choice. Putting aside the conditions of the area where he grows and develops, conditions include ethnic origin, social interactions, family status, kinship relations in the surrounding community, so that in his career he has difficulty planning the right career. The aim of this research is to produce a specialization service model based on personal potential, sociographic conditions and career planning for Baubau City High School students. The research uses a mixed method approach and is analyzed based on research and development. The research subjects were 127 students and 10 guidance and counseling teachers, taken using a purposive sampling technique plus 2 guidance and counseling experts spread across 13 high schools and vocational schools in Baubau. Data collection uses a specialization scale combined with sociographic conditions and career planning. The model was prepared hypothetically and limited trials from ten stages were reduced to 6 research stages to formulate an appropriate student specialization service model based on personal potential, learning achievement, and sociographic conditions and career planning. The model will have 9 components and effectively determine and provide recommendations for specialization based on personal potential, sociographic conditions, and the direction of students' future career planning more effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

Academic procrastination is a common issue among teenagers and students and can have negative effects on their academic performance and mental health. At the same time, adolescent development involves significant physical, emotional, and social changes that can impact how students manage their time and academic responsibilities. Therefore, it is important to understand how specific aspects of adolescent development contribute to academic procrastination. This research uses a qualitative approach with a narrative method. The participants in this study are students from SMAN 92 Jakarta. The aim of this research is to determine whether aspects of adolescent development influence academic procrastination. The study uses interview guidelines as a tool for data collection. After gathering data from the field, the researcher will analyze it using an interactive model by Miles & Huberman, involving data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results of this study indicate that respondents’ perspectives on delaying the start of tasks include (1) lack of understanding of the task; (2) intention to complete the task; and (3) underestimating the task. Students often fulfill their obligations as learners by completing assignments, earning grades, or honing their skills when given daily tasks. Enjoyable activities for students include engaging in non-learning-related activities and preferring to study or work on tasks in groups.

Abstract

This study investigates the efficacy of a self-regulated learning-based training program on mathematics education students' stimulus diversification skills and their pupils' mathematical excellence. The research addresses the critical need for enhancing teacher preparation in mathematics education to improve student outcomes. Using a partial control experimental design, the study involved 46 fourth-year mathematics education students from the University of Zakho and 247 seventh-grade pupils from six basic schools. The training program, implemented over 22 sessions, was based on self-regulated learning strategies. Data were collected through an observation form for stimulus diversification skills and a mathematical excellence test. Results revealed significant improvements in the experimental group's stimulus diversification skills (t = 9.958, p < 0.05, η² = 0.68) and their pupils' mathematical excellence (z = 12.897, p < 0.05, η² = 0.53). These findings demonstrate the program's substantial impact on teacher competence and student achievement. The study concludes that integrating self-regulated learning strategies into mathematics teacher preparation can significantly enhance instructional quality and student performance in mathematics.
