Abstract

Performance measurement is one of the important factors in a business organization, including BLUD, as mandated in Permendagri Number 79 of 2018. The purpose of this study was to analyze the performance of the NTB Provincial Hospital using the Balance ScoreCard method. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through direct observation, in-depth interviews with seven informants, and documentation (document analysis). The results showed that the performance of the NTB Provincial Hospital in the customer perspective was rated quite good, as evidenced by the level of customer satisfaction with tangibles and assurance in the satisfied category, while in the aspects of reliability, empathy, and responsiveness, it was in the quite satisfied category. In the financial perspective, the solvency ratio and collection period are better than the ideal standard, while the liquidity ratio, total assets turnover, and cost recovery rate are less than the ideal standard. In the internal business process perspective, the NTB Provincial Hospital showed fairly good performance in most indicators; however, the high GDR and NDR rates indicate challenges in terms of the quality of critical patient care and mortality management. From the learning and growth perspective, the results are quite good with continuous employee competency development. NTB Provincial Hospital can start the process and efforts to improve performance by increasing the ability and motivation of HR work and innovation in the utiliz s of service information systems (learning and growth perspective), in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes as an effort to improve the quality and quality of services provided to patients (internal business process perspective), thus customers will feel comfortable, trust, and be satisfied with the services provided by the hospital (increased customer perspective), until finally the hospital's income will also increase (financial perspective).

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of growth failure in children under five years of age caused by long-term malnutrition and can be recognized by abnormal height for their age. This condition has significant implications for a child's overall health and development, potentially leading to long-lasting physical and cognitive impairments. Addressing the root causes of stunting is crucial for improving children's well-being and ensuring they reach their full potential. The causes of stunting are not only related to socioeconomic conditions and maternal nutrition but can also be influenced by parents' occupation, parenting styles, and exclusive breastfeeding. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of parental understanding of balanced nutrition and to review the role of education as one of the causes of the high stunting rate in Mendalan Village. Using a qualitative research method with a cross-sectional approach, data was collected through interviews and questionnaires administered to 55 pregnant women and mothers with stunted children. Based on the data obtained, one of the factors influencing understanding of balanced nutrition is education. Specifically, respondents in Mendalan Village have a low level of education, with only elementary (SD) and junior high school (SMP) graduates. Thus, the causal relationship between low education levels and parents' understanding of balanced nutrition influences the high risk of child stunting. This phenomenon can then be prevented by providing education on mental, physical, financial, and mindset readiness before becoming a parent.

Abstract

Access to safe and clean water is essential to human health, yet many river systems in Indonesia remain vulnerable to pollution from domestic, agricultural, and industrial sources. Inadequate water quality monitoring near raw water intakes may increase the risk of waterborne diseases, especially in tropical regions. This study introduces a low-cost, real-time Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system designed to safeguard public health by improving early detection of potential contamination at a key water intake along the Martapura River.  The system utilized an Arduino Mega microcontroller integrated with temperature, pH, and turbidity sensors. Data were transmitted every five minutes via an ESP32 Wi-Fi module to the ThingSpeak cloud platform and visualized through a mobile dashboard accessible to water utility managers. Field testing was conducted upstream and downstream of the PTAM Intan Banjar intake in South Kalimantan. The system demonstrated strong agreement with laboratory reference measurements (Pearson's r > 0.99) and maintained 98.7% data transmission reliability. It operated continuously for over 23 hours per charge, offering a resilient and portable tool for real-time environmental surveillance. This affordable and user-friendly IoT system enables timely water quality monitoring and supports preventive public health actions in response to contamination risks.

Abstract

Asthma is still a public health problem, asthma is considered a simple disease that is not dangerous and easy to treat. This study aims to determine the effect of caregiver education on the behavior of asthma patients in the Wongsorejo Health Center work area, Banyuwangi Regency. This research method uses a quasi-experimental design with a one-group retest-postest design approach. The sample of this study was part of the families of asthma patients at the Wongsorejo Health Center, Banyuwangi Regency, amounting to 56 respondents, the sample determination used the Random Sampling technique. The sample was divided into 28 treatment groups and 28 control groups. The independent variable is caregiver education, while the dependent variable is the behavior of the family of asthma patients. The results of the study with the Mann-Whitney U Test obtained p = 0.000 while the Wilcoxon Sign test obtained p = 0.005. It can be concluded that there are differences in the results in the two groups and the provision of caregiver education affects improving family behavior. Family involvement as a caregiver is the main factor that needs information, knowledge, and skills support while caring for asthma sufferers at home. So it is very important to improve family behavior in providing benefits in achieving relapse prevention behavior in family members who suffer from asthma.

Abstract

Stunted children are more vulnerable to tuberculosis (TB) compared to those with normal nutritional status. Pediatric TB remains a critical component in the overall TB control efforts in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the incidence of pulmonary TB among stunted children in Baki Subdistrict, Sukoharjo Regency. This was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach, conducted at the Baki Community Health Center in June 2025. A total of 94 stunted children were selected from a population of 122 using total sampling. Independent variables included child’s age, gender, parental education and income, access to healthcare services, and BCG vaccination status. The dependent variable was the incidence of pulmonary TB. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using Chi-square tests and logistic regression. The prevalence of pulmonary TB among stunted children was 32.5%. No significant association was found between age or gender and TB incidence. However, maternal education, household income, access to healthcare services, and BCG vaccination status were significantly associated with TB incidence. Children without complete BCG immunization were at higher risk of TB (OR ≈ 2.75; p = 0.017). BCG vaccination status is the most dominant factor associated with pulmonary TB incidence among stunted children. It is recommended to improve the coverage and quality of basic immunization services, implement active TB screening in stunted children, expand access to healthcare services, and integrate stunting prevention with pediatric TB control programs.

Abstract

Proper and swift treatment is crucial for cancer patients. The fig plant contains antioxidants that show inhibition of cancer cell proliferation. By converting its particle size into nano, the active compounds are expected to more easily reach the target cells. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of gold nanoparticles with a reducing agent from fig leaf isolate (Ficus carica). The research method used is laboratory experimentation to produce gold nanoparticles with fig leaf extract as the reducing agent, and the antioxidant activity was tested by observing the IC50 value. The results of the study showed that gold nanoparticles from fig leaf extract were successfully created, as evidenced by UV-Vis spectrophotometer testing at a wavelength of 528 nm. The antioxidant test demonstrated that gold nanoparticles from fig leaf extract have greater potential as an antioxidant agent compared to fig leaf extract alone.

Abstract

In the management of acute agitation in schizophrenia patients, the efficacy of antipsychotic medications, such as olanzapine has been widely studied. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of adding diazepam to olanzapine therapies in reducing agitation in schizophrenia. The research was conducted on a sample of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia in an agitated state. The study employed a pre-post-test design with non-randomized group selection, comprising two groups: olanzapine, olanzapine and diazepam. The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale-Excited Component (PANSS-EC) was utilized to measure agitation symptoms. The results indicated a significant reduction in PANSS-EC scores in all groups from before therapy to the third day of therapy. In conclusion, combination therapy with antipsychotics and diazepam may be considered in the management of agitation in schizophrenia patients. Further research involving larger samples and exploring additional variables is recommended to enhance our understanding of this treatment approach.

Abstract

Patient safety is a global and national issue for hospitals, which is also an important component of the basic principles of patient care, quality of health services and a critical component of quality management. The implementation of nursing actions must be by operational standards and safety targets, to improve the quality and quality of services and minimize the number of patient safety incidents. This research aims to analyze behavioral factors that influence the role of nurses in implementing patient safety goals. This research is quantitative research with a type of non-experimental research, namely design or relationship design or to test the significance of hypotheses. Sampling in this study used the sample census method, therefore 68 nurses were selected with the criteria of 23 nurses as a profession, 1 person with a bachelor's degree in nursing, and 44 people with a D3 nursing degree. The results of this research show that the factors that influence nurses in implementing patient safety targets consist of nurse experience, age, knowledge, self-efficacy, health facilities, training and work environment. The variables of nurse experience and nurse age were not found to have a relationship with the nurse's role, but the variables of nurse knowledge, self-efficacy, health facilitation, training and work environment partially had a relationship with the nurse's role in implementing safety targets for patients at RSU William Booth Semarang. Apart from that, the results showed that the dominant factor influencing the role of nurses in implementing patient safety targets was self-efficacy.

Abstract

The administration of anesthesia is a medical procedure fraught with considerable risk. The prevalence of anesthesia-related mortality is often understated, reminiscent of the so-called iceberg phenomenon. On-the-ground realities reveal that due to a shortage of anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists frequently perform anesthetic procedures under the guidance of anesthesiologists. The annulment of Minister of Health Regulation Number 32 from the year 2013 has resulted in vulnerabilities within the practice of anesthesia nursing. Given the significant consequences associated with anesthetic procedures, it is imperative to have legal safeguards in place for nurse anesthetists. This study utilizes a descriptive-analytical framework and adopts a normative juridical approach, employing deductive reasoning. The research relies on secondary data, which is qualitative and gathered through a comprehensive review of relevant literature. The study's analytical process makes use of normative qualitative methods. In the context of this study, nurse anesthetists receive their delegated authority from physicians and must operate within the constraints set forth by the Medical Practice Act, Health Personnel Law, and Health Minister Regulations related to medical practice permits. Nurse anesthetists assign their tasks based on authority that is delegated in line with legislation No. 38 from 2014 concerning nursing. The specialist anesthesiologist has both legal and moral responsibility for providing protection to nurses executing tasks under such delegated authority since their duties are performed according to physicians' orders and directives. There exists a pressing need to revisit Ministerial Regulation No. 18 from 2016, concerning the licensing and execution of anesthesia management, in order to clarify the roles and functions proprietary to anesthesiologists as determined by their expertise. It is incumbent upon the Minister of Health to promptly issue new regulations pertaining to nurse anesthesia practice, ensuring that healthcare services are provided without any legal discrepancies.

Abstract

To ensure future generations' success, improving young children's cognitive well-being is vital. This study analyses the complicated relationship between evidence-based midwifery practices, environmental factors, and 24-36-month-olds' cognitive well-being. Studies have shown that air pollution and chemical exposure can harm a child's brain.A cross-sectional study examined midwifery practices and environmental quality in Banjarbaru City. The sample included 80 mothers and children. Midwifery practices were assessed using an evidence-based scale, and environmental quality was assessed using an index. The findings show that midwifery practices like exclusive breastfeeding and supplemental nutrition promote children's cognitive development. Additionally, brain health scores are greater in clean environments with less air pollution, sanitation, and chemical exposure. This study emphasises the role of midwives in promoting brain health through evidence-based methods and promotes a holistic approach to child care. The study helps design targeted interventions and strategies to improve future generations' cognitive health.
