Abstract

The right perception of HIV-AIDS by the community of tourist villages can lead to the motivation to identify their HIV status. A tourist village has zero case of HIV-AIDS will have a positive impact on the health conditions of the tourist village community and increase in tourist visits. This study aims to determine the correlation between HIV-AIDS perceptions and the motivation for HIV testing in the tourist village community of Sayan Ubud, Bali. Descriptive correlation design with a cross-sectional approach was used in this study. The sample size was 353 respondents who were taken by proportionate random sampling. Spearman rank correlation test was used for data analysis. The result showed a correlated HIV-AIDS perception and HIV testing motivation (p=0.000; r=0.611). A better perception of HIV-AIDS leads to increased HIV testing motivation in the community. This study can be used as basic data in the preventive programme of new HIV cases through HIV testing services. Thus, the Sayan Ubud tourist village community can identify their HIV status without any negative stigma.

Abstract

Incidents of clients experiencing sudden cardiac arrest in the inpatient setting or unexpected and unavoidable deaths in the inpatient setting are common. One of the efforts to improve quality related to patient safety in hospitals is the application of the Early Warning System (EWS) to clinical changes in patients in hospital inpatient installations. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of EWS in clients with cardiovascular system disorders, including the risk of seriousness, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, use of oxygen supplements, systolic blood pressure, pulse frequency, level of consciousness, and body temperature. This study is an observational descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. The number of respondents was 48 people, namely clients who were treated with diseases of the cardiovascular system. Data analysis using descriptive analysis. The characteristics of respondents obtained in this study showed that the majority of respondents were female (54.2%), the majority of medical diagnoses were congestive heart failure, which was 43.75%, and the average length of stay was 4.63 days. Most of the patient's risk of seriousness was in the moderate category, namely 22 respondents (45.8%). Assessment of clients with cardiovascular system disorders with EWS in this study can predict the level of patient care so that preventive measures can be taken. Recommendations for future research are research on predicting patient mortality using EWS.

Abstract

Surgical Site Infection (SSI) following spinal fusion surgery may lead to patient morbidity, increased treatment costs, and possible recurrent medical interventions. Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) has demonstrated promise in the management of SSI as well as assisting in surgical wound healing. This literature review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of NPWT as a prophylactic, and treatment of SSI in spinal fusion surgery. The literature review method is conducted by searching research articles comparing NPWT and Standard Wound Dressing (SWD) effectiveness with the relevant cohort or Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) research design using Embase, Scopus, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases. The application treads of NPWT for surgical wounds in spinal fusion surgery were also described. The research articles were limited from 2017 to 2022. Six articles fit in criteria of inclusion, three articles were prophylactic management research, and the others were the management of treatment research. Analysis of the articles indicated that NPWT as prophylactic could effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative surgical site infections. NPWT as treatment had less time duration, lower risk of sponge fragment retainment, and fewer procedures to achieve wound closure in spinal fusion surgery. There is currently a lack of strong clinical evidence of its efficacy, so rigorous randomized prospective clinical trials are needed.
