Abstract

This study aims to determine the marketing communication strategies used by Pegadaian agents in finding customers and marketing services in Tebing Tinggi City. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation of Pegadaian agents operating in the Tebing Tinggi City area. The results show that Pegadaian agents' marketing communication strategies focus on interpersonal communication that is persuasive, familial, and trust-based. The strategies used include face-to-face communication (personal selling), word of mouth communication (word of mouth), and communication through social media and WhatsApp. Face-to-face communication is the main strategy because it can build trust directly, while word of mouth communication is effective in disseminating information through the community's social environment. The use of social media and WhatsApp plays a supporting role in delivering information, providing services, and maintaining relationships with customers. However, Pegadaian agents still face several obstacles, such as negative public stigma towards Pegadaian, low financial literacy, limited number of agents, and competition with other financial institutions. Therefore, a more planned and sustainable communication strategy is needed so that Pegadaian service marketing can run more effectively.

Abstract

An important element in the formation of students' civic character lies in the extent to which Pancasila values can be internalized in a contextual and meaningful learning process. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the internalization of Pancasila values is able to shape the civic character of students at the Kampung Bharu Malaysia Learning Center. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation of teachers and sixth grade students. The results of the study indicate that the process of forming civic character is carried out through habituation, role models, and value-based learning activities that emphasize aspects of religious values, discipline, and nationalism. This study found that the internalization of Pancasila values can create a pleasant learning atmosphere and is oriented towards strengthening character. This strategy has proven effective in strengthening the sense of nationalism of Indonesian students abroad, and is applied continuously in other non-formal education programs to improve the quality of civic character formation.

Abstract

This study investigates how character education contributes to enhancing students? civic engagement through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Using the PRISMA 2020 framework, this review systematically identified, screened, and evaluated journal articles from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar published between 2015 and 2025. A total of 100 eligible peer-reviewed articles were included and analyzed using bibliometric mapping (VOSviewer) and narrative thematic synthesis. The VOSviewer network visualization positioned ?character education? as the most central and dominant keyword, strongly connected to ?student,? ?school,? ?implementation,? and ?values education,? indicating that character education functions as a core axis in civic-related educational discourse. The thematic findings reveal five main pathways through which character education strengthens civic engagement: (1) internalization of values that transforms moral understanding into meaningful civic actions, (2) civic identity formation that reinforces students? sense of collective responsibility, (3) development of prosocial skills and social responsibility that broadens everyday civic participation, (4) supportive school climate and institutional culture that provides democratic spaces for student involvement, and (5) digital citizenship that guides ethical civic participation in online environments. Overall, the findings confirm that character education serves as a ?moral engine? that supports sustainable, reflective, and inclusive civic engagement beyond normative civic knowledge. Future research should focus on more standardized civic engagement measurement, explore mediating factors such as civic identity and school climate, and further examine character-based civic engagement within digitally mediated contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates how price, product quality, and brand image shape retailers' purchase decisions for Semen Andalas, a product of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, in Medan City. The research is motivated by a paradoxical market phenomenon: regional cement demand and overall corporate sales are increasing, yet Semen Andalas is experiencing a declining market share amid intensifying competition. Adopting a causal research design, the study surveys all 97 building-material stores in Medan that have purchased Semen Andalas, using saturated sampling. Price, product quality, brand image, and purchase decision are operationalized into multi-item Likert scales, whose validity and reliability are confirmed through Pearson product-moment correlations and Cronbach's alpha. Data are analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression. The results show that price, product quality, and brand image jointly explain 49.3% of the variance in purchase decisions (R² = 0.493) and have a positive and significant simultaneous effect. Partially, each variable also exerts a positive and significant influence, with price emerging as the strongest predictor, followed by product quality and brand image. These findings indicate that retailers' decisions are driven by a combination of perceived price fairness, functional performance, and brand trust rather than by product attributes alone. The study underscores the need for an integrated strategy that aligns pricing, quality management, and brand-building initiatives to strengthen Semen Andalas' competitive position in Medan's cement market.

Abstract

The modern world, which provides women with the freedom to pursue the highest possible education, can also have negative impacts on them. Modern women with higher education often face challenges in finding partners due to the concept of equality (kafaah). This study aims to analyze the concept of kafaah in Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) and the Compilation of Islamic Law and its relevance to the phenomenon of highly educated women remaining single for extended periods. This study employed a qualitative method with a library research approach, analyzing various literature such as fiqh books, scientific journals, and laws and regulations. The results show that in Islamic law, kafaah is not a requirement for a valid marriage, but rather a social consideration to maintain household harmony, with the primary benchmarks being religious and moral aspects. Differences in social, economic, or educational status cannot be used as a reason to hinder marriage. However, in social reality, the understanding of kafaah often shifts in meaning due to patriarchal culture and materialistic perceptions, so that highly educated women are often considered difficult to find a "comparable" partner. Meanwhile, Indonesian positive law, through the 1945 Constitution, Law No. 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage, and the Compilation of Islamic Law, guarantees protection for women's right to choose their life partner without discrimination. Thus, both Islamic law and positive law emphasize that equality in marriage should be based on moral and spiritual values, not social status or educational level.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of integrating Qur'anic values into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the modern era. Religious education is not only about knowledge transmission but also value transformation. In the context of globalization and the challenges of the digital age, Qur'anic values such as monotheism, morality, justice, and knowledge become the foundation for shaping students' holistic character. This study uses a qualitative library research method with a thematic approach to Qur’anic verses and relates them to PAI learning practices. The results show that Qur'anic values can be integrated into the curriculum, methods, and evaluation of PAI to form faithful, knowledgeable, and noble-minded individuals. The article concludes that Qur’anic-based PAI can be a solution to the moral and spiritual crises among students today.

Abstract

The importance of character education in Indonesia aims to create social harmony in the midst of the diversity of Southeast Asia, where tolerance means respecting differences and mutual cooperation involving group cooperation. The purpose of this study is to explore the application of the values of tolerance and mutual cooperation to strengthen character education in children at the Kampung Bharu Guidance Studio, Malaysia, a non-formal institution that serves children from migrant families. The research method uses descriptive qualitative methods, research is conducted through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with studio managers, and documentation of activities from September to October 2025. The findings in this study reveal that the values of tolerance and mutual cooperation are instilled through routines such as scouting activities, mutual cooperation to clean the environment, and morning moral coaching. The manager acts as a role model by showing a polite and empathetic attitude, while parental participation through communication and collaboration groups reinforces the consistency of values between the studio and the home. This conclusion emphasizes that informal studios manage to positively shape the character of migrant children. This research contributes to the development of an inclusive character education literature, and supports education policies that are sensitive to local contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the construction of the meaning of da'wah in digital painting artworks published through the Instagram account @_zukkk using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. This study is motivated by the transformation of da'wah in the digital era, where religious messages are increasingly conveyed through visual media that align with the communication characteristics of the millennial and Generation Z generations. This study uses a qualitative approach with a semiotic analysis method that maps meaning at three levels, namely denotation, connotation, and myth. The research data is in the form of uploaded digital artworks that display a representation of a Muslim performing a bowing movement under a large tree, with the surrounding natural elements depicted as bowing as well. The results show that at the denotative level, the artwork represents the practice of prayer as a form of ritual obedience. At the connotative level, the visualization builds the meaning of spiritual harmony between humans and nature in submission to Allah. Meanwhile, at the mythical level, this artwork constructs an ideological narrative about the cosmological submission of the entire universe to the Creator. This study concludes that digital painting serves not only as an aesthetic expression but also as an effective and contextual visual da'wah medium in the social media era. These findings contribute to the development of digital da'wah communication studies by emphasizing the role of visual art as an adaptive, reflective, and relevant da'wah strategy within contemporary visual culture.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and increasing mobility of indonesian communities abroad, maintaining national identity has become a significant challenge for young generations of the diaspora. Education based on pancasila values serves as an essential means to cultivate national character from an early age, including through creative activities in non-formal learning environments. This study aims to analyze the implementation of pancasila values through creative activities in strengthening the national identity of indonesian migrant workers in malaysia. A qualitative approach with a case stduy design was conducted at sanggar belajar malaysia ( SBM ) through in- depth interviews, participatory obsevations, and documentation. The findings show that creative activities such as drawing pancasila values, hero literacy, educational board games, and crafting the indonesian flag effectively instill the values of mutual cooperation, tolerance and nationalism. The use of the indonesian language and the celebration of national holidays further strengthen the children's sense of patriotims. The sanggar belajar model has proven to be an effective medium for character education among diaspora children. This study recommend replicating this model in other diaspora communities and encouraging government policies to supprot pancasila-based character education abroad.
