Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of emotional intelligence on adolescents’ dating behavior, with the parent–child relationship as a mediating variable. Adolescent dating behavior is influenced by emotional regulation abilities and the quality of relationships with parents. This research employed a quantitative approach using an explanatory survey design and mediation analysis. The participants consisted of 209 twelfth-grade students from SMK Imelda Medan. Data were collected using emotional intelligence, parent–child relationship, and dating behavior scales developed in a 4-point Likert format. The results of validity testing indicated that all items were valid, while reliability analysis showed Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients exceeding 0.70, indicating good reliability. The findings revealed that emotional intelligence had a significant direct effect on adolescents’ dating behavior. Furthermore, emotional intelligence also demonstrated a significant indirect effect on dating behavior through the parent–child relationship, confirming its mediating role. These results suggest that higher emotional intelligence, supported by positive parent–child relationships characterized by emotional closeness, open communication, and a sense of security, contributes to healthier and more adaptive dating behavior among adolescents. This study contributes to the field of adolescent developmental psychology by providing empirical evidence on the psychological mechanisms linking emotional intelligence and dating behavior, particularly in the context of vocational secondary education. The findings also have practical implications for schools, parents, and psychology practitioners in developing intervention programs that focus on strengthening emotional intelligence and enhancing the quality of parent–child relationships to promote healthy adolescent dating behavior aligned with prevailing social values.

Abstract

Corruption is a serious challenge that threatens the academic integrity and character of students as future leaders. Efforts to eradicate corruption require a comprehensive and innovative approach, including optimization in learning and societal practices. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between students' understanding of corruption on anti-corruption attitudes and their contribution in improving self-integrity in students of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) Study Program, FKIP UMSU. The research method used in this study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design. Data were collected through closed questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with 60 active student respondents in the 4th and 6th semesters. The results showed that students' understanding of corruption was high. There is a significant positive relationship between this level of understanding and anti-corruption attitudes shown by students with a Pearson correlation coefficient of r = 0.672 (significant at p < 0.01) such as the courage to refuse gratuities, academic transparency, and reporting unethical actions. Further analysis also found that understanding corruption contributed substantially to strengthening students' personal integrity with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.596 (p < 0.01) especially in the aspects of morality, responsibility, and consistency between values and actions. The conclusion of this study shows that the integration of anti-corruption education in the curriculum and the strengthening of a clean and transparent academic culture are instrumental in preventing corruption in higher education.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of the father's role in modern families from both legal and psychological perspectives. In the evolving dynamics of contemporary society, the father's role is no longer limited to being the breadwinner but also extends to that of an educator, moral guide, and emotional stabilizer within the family. Using a descriptive-analytical method with a literature-based approach, this research explores how paternal involvement influences character formation, emotional stability, and the social development of children. The findings indicate that, legally, fathers share equal responsibility with mothers in parenting, as stipulated in the Marriage Law and the Child Protection Law. Psychologically, an active and communicative father plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of security, self-confidence, and emotional resilience in children. The integration of these two dimensions highlights that a father's presence holds strategic importance for family balance and the development of morally grounded future generations. Therefore, strengthening the father's role through family policies and parenting education that emphasize cooperation between both parents is essential to building a harmonious and empowered family.

Abstract

Jad maʿal ikhwah refers to an inheritance issue that arose after the death of the Prophet Muhammad, particularly during the caliphate of ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭab. In this case, full siblings and the paternal grandfather are two heirs who claim a share of the inheritance. According to the science of faraʾiḍ, only one of these parties is entitled to inherit, while the other is excluded. Both are considered ʿasabah heirs, meaning they are entitled to the residual estate after the fixed shares have been distributed. Ibn ʿAbbas held the view that only the grandfather is entitled to inherit in such cases, whereas Zayd ibn Thabit argued that both the grandfather and the full siblings are entitled to share the inheritance. This study employs qualitative and normative analysis of legal norms and juristic opinions found in both classical and contemporary fiqh texts. The findings indicate that the view of Zayd ibn Thabit, which grants inheritance rights to both the grandfather and the full siblings simultaneously, has been widely accepted by jurists and remains relevant in contemporary contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for strengthening nationalism through the medium of national anthems among children at the Muhammadiyah Kepong Guidance Center in Malaysia. Nationalism is a fundamental value for Indonesian migrant workers' children living abroad who are vulnerable to national identity crises. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects consist of the center manager, homeroom teachers, and nine students. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study show that the strategy to strengthen nationalism is carried out through: (1) the habit of singing national songs before learning, (2) internalization of the meaning of song lyrics, (3) integration with history lessons, and (4) commemoration of national holidays. The implementation of these strategies effectively improved understanding of the nation's history, fostered love for the homeland, strengthened national identity, and shaped a disciplined character and a sense of pride as Indonesian citizens.

Abstract

The right to form a family through marriage is a human right that is constitutionally guaranteed in Article 28B paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. However, in private sector employment practices, this right is still often restricted through internal company policies that prohibit marriage between employees. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Constitutional Court Decision Number 13/PUU-XV/2017 in employment practices at Lion Parcel Medan and identify obstacles that hinder its implementation. This study uses an empirical juridical approach with data collection methods through literature studies and in-depth interviews with employees and company management. The results of the study indicate that although the Constitutional Court Decision is final and binding and expressly prohibits termination of employment due to marriage between employees, its implementation at Lion Parcel Medan has not been optimal. The main obstacles include the company's internal policies not being revised, the low understanding of the law among management and workers, and weak supervision from employment agencies. This study emphasizes the importance of harmonization between constitutional norms and company policies to ensure the protection of workers' rights without neglecting professionalism and organizational governance.

Abstract

This study analyzes the legal status of Breast Milk Banking (ASI) from an Islamic perspective by highlighting the differences in legal approaches between Wahbah az-Zuhaili and Yusuf al-Qaradawi, a theme that still leaves a research gap regarding the limits of radha'ah and the implications of lineage in a modern context. This study uses a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach through a review of classical and contemporary works, fatwas of scholars, and relevant modern fiqh literature. Data are analyzed through source triangulation and an assessment of the consistency of legal arguments to identify the patterns of ijtihad of the two scholars on the issue of non-direct breastfeeding. The results show that Wahbah az-Zuhaili rejects the practice of Breast Milk Banking due to the potential for mixing lineages and the unclear mahram relationship, considering any form of breast milk entering the baby's body, whether directly or through media, as breastfeeding that has legal consequences. In contrast, Yusuf al-Qaradawi argues that Breast Milk Banking is permissible based on the principle of benefit, because breastfeeding that is not done through direct sucking does not create a mahram relationship. This comparison demonstrates differences in ijtihad methodology: Zuhaili's approach to protecting lineage stems from a precautionary approach, while al-Qaradawi emphasizes the flexibility of Islamic law in addressing contemporary social needs. This study confirms that the legal debate regarding breast milk banking is not only related to technical fiqh issues, but also concerns the methodology of legal istinbath in addressing new phenomena. These findings contribute to the development of contemporary fiqh studies and provide a basis for formulating policies that consider aspects of benefit, infant safety, and clarity of lineage.
