Abstract

Children with hearing loss cannot hear sounds perfectly or even at all. Children with hearing loss will also experience problems with verbal language, they will have difficulty expressing what they know or the imagination that is in their minds. Images are a universal visual language and can be a medium for children to express themselves. At the age of 9-10 years, children have an imagination that begins to develop and are familiar with simple schemes such as the concept of land lines in pictures. Visual language theory was used to answer the research objective, namely to examine the tendency of object visualization in grouping several themes obtained from the results of collecting sample images of children with hearing impairments at Putra Asih SLB, Kediri city. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Analysis was carried out on 10 students with hearing impairments with varying abilities. Judging from the visual language analysis, the wimba produced are quite diverse, while the wimba methods used are enlarging objects that are considered important, placing objects using a natural point of view, expressive depiction of the wimba, understanding land lines, and using colors that make the object appear more visible. life. From the results of the analysis, it was found that even though students have limitations in verbal language, they are good observers of what is around them.  Keywords : Children's drawings, visual language, hearing impairment.   Abstrak Anak dengan gangguan pendengaran tidak dapat mendengar bunyi dengan sempurna atau bahkan tidak dapat mendengar sama sekali. Anak dengan gangguan pendengaran juga akan mengalami kendala dalam bahasa verbal, mereka mengalami kesulitan dalam mengungkapkan apa yang mereka ketahui ataupun imajinasi yang ada dalam fikirannya. Gambar menjadi bahasa visual yang universal dan dapat menjadi media anak dalam berekpresi. Pada usia 9-10 tahun  anak memiliki imajinasi yang mulai berkembang dan telah mengenal skema sederhana seperti konsep garis tanah pada gambar. Teori bahasa rupa digunakan untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian yaitu mengkaji kecenderungan visualisasi objek dalam pengelompokan beberapa tema yang didapat dari hasil pengumpulan sampel gambar anak dengan gangguan pendengaran di SLB Putra Asih kota Kediri. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Analisis dilakukan terhadap 10 peserta didik yang mengalami gangguan pendengaran dengan kemampuan yang beragam. Ditinjau dari analisis bahasa rupa, wimba yang dihasilkan cukup beragam, sedangkan cara wimba yang digunakan adalah memperbesar objek yang dianggap penting, penempatan objek menggunakan sudut pandang wajar, penggambaran wimba yang ekspresif, telah memahami garis tanah, dan penggunaan warna yang membuat kesan objek tampak lebih hidup. Dari hasil analisis didapatkan bahwa peserta didik meskipun memiliki keterbatasan dalam bahasa verbal namun mereka adalah pengamat yang baik terhadap apa yang ada di sekitarnya.

Abstract

Currently there are two versions of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) exam held by Hanban to measure Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers, namely New HSK and New Standard HSK. HSK not only includes vocabulary, but also includes idioms, but there is a significant accumulation of idioms at the highest level in both exams. In contrast to most other studies of Chinese idioms which focus more on learning methods, in this research author analyses the distribution of idioms contain in the New HSK and New Standard HSK exams with the aim to provide suggestions for updating the application of idioms in both exams. This research uses descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach. The results of this research can be concluded that the distribution of idioms in the New HSK and New Standard HSK exams does not have gradation of increasing numbers from lower levels to higher levels. Therefore, author suggests Hanban to spread idioms that are relatively easy and whose meaning can be understand directly to lower exam levels by appearing in listening and reading sections and increasing the intersection of idiom between New HSK and New Standard HSK. The implication of these updating suggestions are expected to make it easier for teachers and students to prepare for exams, teach idioms earlier in the context of everyday life, increase practice in applying idioms which are the intersection of New HSK and New Standard HSK, and introduce idioms using explaining the culture or history behind an idiom. Keywords : HSK, New HSK, New Standard HSK, idioms, learning.   Abstrak Saat ini terdapat dua versi ujian Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) yang diadakan oleh Hanban untuk mengukur kemahiran berbahasa Mandarin penutur asing, yaitu New HSK dan New Standard HSK. Soal HSK tidak hanya meliputi kosakata sehari – hari, tetapi juga meliputi idiom, namun terjadi penumpukan jumlah idiom yang signifikan pada level atas dalam ujian New HSK dan New Standard HSK. Berbeda dengan kebanyakan penelitian idiom bahasa Mandarin lainnya yang lebih banyak menyoroti metode pembelajarannya, dalam penelitian ini dilakukan analisis sebaran idiom yang terdapat dalam ujian New HSK dan New Standard HSK dengan tujuan untuk memberikan saran pembaharuan penerapan idiom dalam kedua ujian tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan sebaran idiom pada ujian New HSK dan New Standard HSK tidak memiliki gradasi peningkatan jumlah dari level rendah menuju level yang lebih tinggi. Oleh karena itu Hanban perlu untuk menyebar idiom-idiom yang relatif mudah dan maknanya dapat dipahami secara langsung ke level ujian yang lebih rendah, memunculkan idiom-idiom yang mudah dipahami pada soal ujian level rendah bagian mendengar (listening) dan membaca (reading) dengan konteks sehari-hari, dan meningkatkan interseksi kemunculan idiom antara New HSK dan New Standard HSK. Implikasi dari pembaharuan yang disarankan dapat memudahkan pengajar dan pemelajar mempersiapkan diri mengikuti ujian, dapat lebih dini mengajarkan idiom dalam konteks kehidupan sehari – hari, memperbanyak latihan penerapan idiom yang merupakan interseksi New HSK dan New Standard HSK, dan memperkenalkan idiom dengan metode bercerita budaya atau sejarah di balik sebuah idiom.

Abstract

Environmental problems are one of the disasters that are close to the community. The increase in environmental problems will not occur if all elements of society have awareness of environmental ethics. In addition, character education is one of the supporting aspects of strengthening ethics. One of the efforts to internalize these values is through art performances, including musicals. The purpose of this study is 1) describe environmental ethics, 2) the value of character education, which is contained in the musical drama Madison's Adventure, and 3) the relevance of the content of these values and musical drama when used in learning Indonesian various levels. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach. The source of this research data is the staging of the musical and the script of the musical Petualangan Madison. The musical drama is performed at the end of 2023, at the ASTON Hotel Madiun (12/31/2023). The data collection technique used was participant observation, by watching musical performances, recording performances, and documentation by analyzing musical drama scripts. The results of this study include: 1) environmental ethics contained in Madison's Adventure is an attitude of respect for nature, responsibility, compassion, and concern for nature, 2) the value of character education contained in Petualangan Madison is four values, including religious, nationalist, independent, and mutual assistance. The variety of environmental ethics and the value of character education can be seen in the scenes and dialogues that appear in the musical drama Petualangan Madison. (3) Petualangan Madison musical drama is relevant in Indonesian language learning with Merdeka Curriculum system, especially as a learning medium for several learning outcomes Indonesian Phase B to Phase F. Keywords : Environmental ethics, character education, musical drama.   Abstrak Permasalahan lingkungan menjadi salah satu bencana yang dekat dengan masyarakat. Peningkatan problematika lingkungan tidak akan terjadi jika seluruh elemen masyarakat memiliki kesadaran tentang etika lingkungan hidup. Selain itu, pendidikan karakter menjadi salah satu aspek penunjang penguatan etika tersebut. Salah satu upaya internalisasi nilai-nilai tersebut adalah melalui pertunjukan kesenian, termasuk drama musikal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah 1) mendeskripsikan etika lingkungan hidup, 2) nilai pendidikan karakter, yang terdapat pada drama musikal Petualangan Madison, dan 3) relevansi muatan nilai-nilai serta drama musikal tersebut ketika digunakan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia ragam jenjang. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah pementasan drama musikal dan naskah drama musikal Petualangan Madison. Drama musikal tersebut ditampilkan pada pentas akhir tahun 2023, di Hotel Aston Madiun (31/12/2023). Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi partisipan, dengan menonton pementasan drama musikal, merekam pementasan, serta dokumentasi dengan menganalisis naskah drama musikal. Hasil penelitian ini antara lain: 1) etika lingkungan hidup yang terdapat pada Petualangan Madison adalah sikap hormat terhadap alam, tanggung jawab, kasih sayang, dan kepedulian terhadap alam, 2) nilai pendidikan karakter yang termuat pada Petualangan Madison adalah empat nilai antara lain religius, nasionalis, mandiri, dan gotong royong. Ragam etika lingkungan hidup dan nilai pendidikan karakter tersebut tampak pada adegan dan dialog yang muncul pada drama musikal Petualangan Madison. (3) Drama musikal Petualangan Madison relevan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia Kurikulum Merdeka, terutama sebagai media belajar untuk beberapa capaian pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia Fase B hingga Fase F.

Abstract

Conservation in the Old City of Jakarta has been carried out for years, both the government and the private sector have produced many plans but its revitalization is still far from perfect. The Bank Mandiri Museum building is one of the colonial heritages which has an inscription in the form of stained glass on its main window. These glasses are not just colorful pieces, but were deliberately made to form a special story, namely the story of the Dutch's journey to find the land they were looking for, accompanied by an explanation of this stained art work (Caption) next to the main stairs. However, the caption provided is still not perfect, because the illustration on the stained glass is not fully described. Considering the lack of documentation of arts and culture in Indonesia, this needs to be paid attention to. This article is the result of a review of stained glass at the Bank Mandiri museum using a semiotic approach that is aligned with cultural studies of the colonial period. The result of this research is a new, clearer and more detailed meaning regarding the stained glass which is the object of research. Thus, it is hoped that this research can contribute to efforts to conserve the Old City as an Indonesian cultural heritage.  Keywords : Stained glass, stained glass art, glass, stained, Bank Mandiri Museum.   Abstrak Konservasi di Kota Tua Jakarta telah dilakukan selama bertahun-tahun, baik pemerintah maupun wasta telah menghasilkan banyak rencana namun revitalisasinya masih jauh dari sempurna. Bangunan Museum Bank Mandiri sebagai salah satu peninggalan kolonial yang memiliki “Prasasti” berbentuk kaca patri pada jendela utamanya. Kaca-kaca tersebut bukan sekadar potongan warna-warni, tetapi sengaja dibuat membentuk cerita khusus yakni cerita perjalanan Belanda menemukan tanah yang dicari disertai penjelasan mengenai karya seni patri ini (caption) di samping tangga utama. Namun caption yang diberikan masih belum sempurna, karena ilustrasi pada kaca patri tersebut tidak dideskripsikan secara utuh. Mengingat minimnya pendokumentasian seni dan budaya di Indonesia, maka hal ini perlu menjadi perhatian. Tulisan ini adalah hasil kajian ulang mengenai kaca patri di museum Bank Mandiri dengan menggunakan pendekatan semiotika yang diselaraskan dengan studi budaya tentang masa kolonial. Hasil penelitian ini adalah makna baru yang lebih jelas dan rinci mengenai kaca patri yang menjadi objek penelitian. Dengan demikian diharapkan penelitian ini dapat menjadi sumbangsih dalam upaya konservasi Kota Tua sebagai cagar budaya Indonesia.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, local traditions are often eroded by the more dominant flow of outside culture. This has resulted in a decrease in interest in and understanding of traditional values that are believed to have important relevance in strengthening the identity of a society. The purpose of this research is to reveal how the symbolic meaning of the use of songket Subahnale can be an effective medium for strengthening understanding and respect for the traditional values of the Sasak tribe. This research uses a descriptive method with Suzanne K. Langer's semiotics theory, which views meaning as a complex relationship between symbols, objects, and humans. Art symbols are more presentational in nature and can be understood as a whole. The results of this study indicate that there are moral values stored in several activities that use songket Subahnale cloth as clothing and as a complement to carrying out traditional processions on the island of Lombok.  Keywords: Ethics, songket Subahnale, tradition value, Sasak Trib   Abstrak Pada era globalisasi saat ini, tradisi-tradisi lokal sering kali tergerus oleh arus budaya luar yang lebih dominan. Hal ini mengakibatkan penurunan minat serta pemahaman terhadap nilai-nilai tradisional yang diyakini memiliki relevansi penting dalam memperkokoh jati diri suatu masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengungkap bagaimana makna simbolis pada penggunaan songket Subahnale sehingga dapat menjadi medium yang efektif dalam memperkuat pemahaman dan penghormatan terhadap nilai-nilai tradisi suku Sasak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan teori semiotika Suzanne K. Langer yang memandang makna sebagai sebuah hubungan kompleks antara simbol, objek, dan manusia, serta simbol-simbol seni lebih bersifat presentasional yang dapat dimengerti secara menyeluruh. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat nilai-nilai moral yang tersimpan pada beberapa kegiatan, yang menggunakan kain songket Subahnale sebagai pakaian dan pelengkap dalam melaksanakan prosesi adat yang ada di pulau Lombok.

Abstract

The background of the idea in this study describes the character and pattern of children's drawings in representing the perception of the social phenomenon of the Covid-19 pandemic with the aim of analyzing the results of children's drawings in Kudus Regency. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research procedure includes (1) description stage, (2) formal analysis stage, (3) interpretation stage and (4) meaning assessment stage. Data collection uses interviews from several children selected to match the experience of the Covid-19 pandemic based on age cases, regions, and the attractiveness of the events experienced. Research participants used nine works made by children in perceiving events during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of the study have a theme of drawing works that perceive (1) self and environment; (2) religious activities; (3) prevention and health protocols; and (4) children's psychological experiences. In general, the artworks created lead to the use of techniques in simple art elements. Moral messages are more exploited in sources of knowledge from the surrounding environment. The research findings can contribute to the handling of children who experience individual problems in learning and social interaction in the community. Keywords: children's perception, drawing, aesthetic experience, covid-19   Abstrak Latar belakang adanya ide dalam penelitian ini menggambarkan karakter dan pola gambar anak dalam merepresentasikan persepsi fenomena sosial pandemi Covid-19 dengan tujuan menganalisis hasil karya gambar anak di Kabupaten Kudus. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus yang meliputi (1) tahap deskripsi, (2) tahap analisis formal, (3) tahap interpretasi, dan (4) tahap penilaian makna. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dari beberapa anak yang dipilih untuk menyesuaikan pengalaman pandemi Covid-19 berdasarkan kasus usia, wilayah, dan kemenarikan peristiwa yang dialam. Partisipan penelitian menggunakan sembilan karya yang dibuat anak dalam mempersepsikan peristiwa saat terjadi pandemi Covid-19. Hasil penelitian memiliki tema karya gambar yang mempersepsikan (1) diri dan lingkungan; (2) aktivitas religius; (3) pencegahan dan protokol kesehatan; and (4) pengalaman psikologis anak. Secara garis besar hasil karya seni yang dibuat mengarah pada penggunaan teknik pada unsur seni secara sederhana. Pesan moral lebih tereksploitasi pada sumber pengetahuan dari lingkungan sekitar. Temuan penelitian dapat memberikan kontribusi penanganan anak-anak yang mengalami persoalan individu dalam belajar dan berinteraksi sosial di masyarakat.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate how students viewed self-assessment of their writing skill and to determine the challenges students faced during the process of self-assessment of their writing skill. This research used a survey research design with a qualitative approach that enriches with quality. The participants involved were 10th grade students majoring in tourism at SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja. The participants in this research were 111 students from three different classes, namely class X-AP 3 with 37 students, class X-AP4 with 37 students, and class X-AP5 with 37 students. Open-ended questionnaires and interviews were conducted to collect the necessary data. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis for qualitative data obtained from interviews, and descriptive statistics were used to summarize responses from open-ended questionnaires. The research results show that there are indications that students tend to have a positive perception of self-assessment of their writing skill. It is found that with self-assessment, students can improve their writing skills, encourage motivation, achieve goals, fulfill their expectations in writing, and can help students assess their own writing results. Apart from that, there are also challenges faced by students, such as a lack of objective attitude in carrying out self-assessments and the emergence of feelings of confusion when carrying out self-assessments. This is caused by the students' lack of experience in carrying out self-assessments and the students' lack of honesty in carrying out self-assessments regarding writing skills.

Abstract

In the increasingly developing digital era, one form of artistic expression that is undergoing transformation through the application of technology is art exhibitions. In its development, exhibitions can be held virtually. This research aims to (1) explain the management strategy for virtual painting exhibitions in building interactive experiences for class XII students at SMA Negeri 3 Semarang, (2) explain the implementation of virtual exhibitions for class XII students at SMA Negeri 3 Semarang, (3) explain the impact The use of virtual painting exhibitions for the learning of class XII students at SMA Negeri 3 Semarang. This research uses a qualitative method that produces data in the form of descriptive narratives and phenomenology is determined as a methodological approach that aims to discuss subjective experience as a whole. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation and documentation. Before the data is analyzed, the validity of the data is carried out first through triangulation of sources and theories. Next, the data is analyzed using interactive data analysis with the flow of data reduction, data display, and conclusion: verification. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the virtual management strategy for painting in class XII MIPA 4 students at SMA Negeri 3 Semarang goes through the stages of planning, organizing, moving and supervising in the digital space. Implementing a virtual painting exhibition can provide an interactive experience for students in a different environment. The impact of using a virtual painting exhibition for students is (1) an in-depth learning experience; (2) development of visual and aesthetic skills; (3) stimulation of creativity; (4) interactive and participatory learning; (5) development of technological skills; (6) increasing appreciation for art. Abstrak Dalam era digital yang semakin berkembang, salah satu bentuk ekspresi seni yang mengalami transformasi melalui penerapan teknologi adalah pameran seni. Dalam perkembangannya pameran dapat dilakukan secara virtual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menjelaskan strategi manajemen pameran virtual seni lukis dalam membangun pengalaman interaktif bagi  siswa kelas XII di SMA Negeri 3 Semarang, (2) menjelaskan implementasi pameran virtual bagi siswa kelas XII di SMA Negeri 3 Semarang,  (3) menjelaskan dampak penggunaan pameran virtual seni lukis terhadap pembelajaran siswa kelas XII di SMA Negeri 3 Semarang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang menghasilkan data berupa narasi deskriptif dan fenomenologi ditetapkan sebagai pendekatan metodologi yang bertujuan membahas pengalaman subjektif secara keseluruhan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Sebelum data dianalisis, dilakukan keabsahan data terlebih dahulu dengan melalui triangulasi sumber dan teori. Kemudian data dianalisis menggunakan analis data interaktif dengan alur data reduction, data display, dan conclusion: verification. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa startegi manajemen virtual seni lukis siswa kelas XII MIPA 4 di SMA Negeri 3 Semarang melalui tahapan merencanakan, mengorganisir, menggerakan, dan melalukan pengawasan dalam ruang digital. Implementasi pameran virtual seni lukis dapat memberikan pengalaman interaktif bagi siswa di dalam lingkungan yang berbeda. Abstract

This research explores the cultural resistance of Balinese women in literary works. This research adopts the sociological theory of literature and feminist discourse as an analytical framework for studying literary works. The main aim of this study is to analyze various forms of resistance carried out by Balinese women, as represented in literary works, against patriarchal norms that are deeply rooted in Balinese culture. This research implements a qualitative approach to analyze three literary works. The data analysis method used is descriptive qualitative, which involves operational steps, namely interpretation and classification, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. These three literary works were chosen as primary data sources because they contain ideological content regarding the discourse of Balinese women's resistance to patriarchal ideology. The data collection method in this research was carried out through literature study using reading and note-taking techniques. The findings of this research reveal that literary works contain significant elements of resistance, which depict women's courage and determination in facing discrimination and injustice. Apart from that, this research also reveals how the author uses language and cultural symbols to convey a feminist message, providing new insights into the social and cultural dynamics in Bali. This research has significance for a deeper understanding of the position and role of women in Balinese society, as well as presenting a new perspective in the study of feminism and cultural literature. The findings obtained emphasize the importance of literature as a means of resistance and self-expression for women in traditional cultural contexts. Keywords : Cultural resistance, Balinese women, feminist discourse. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi perlawanan kultural perempuan Bali dalam karya sastra. Penelitian ini mengadopsi teori sosiologi sastra dan wacana feminisme sebagai kerangka analisis untuk mengkaji karya sastra. Tujuan utama dari studi ini adalah untuk menganalisis berbagai bentuk perlawanan yang dilakukan oleh perempuan Bali, sebagaimana direpresentasikan dalam karya sastra, terhadap norma-norma patriarkal yang telah mengakar dalam budaya Bali. Penelitian ini mengimplementasikan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menganalisis tiga karya sastra. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, yang melibatkan langkah-langkah operasional, yakni interpretasi dan klasifikasi, penyajian data, serta penarikan kesimpulan. Ketiga karya sastra ini dipilih sebagai sumber data primer karena mengandung muatan ideologis tentang wacana perlawanan perempuan Bali terhadap ideologi patriarki. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan melalui studi kepustakaan dengan teknik membaca dan mencatat. Temuan dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa karya sastra memuat elemen-elemen perlawanan yang signifikan, yang menggambarkan keberanian dan keteguhan perempuan dalam menghadapi diskriminasi serta ketidakadilan. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mengungkap bagaimana penulis menggunakan bahasa dan simbol-simbol budaya untuk menyampaikan pesan feminis, memberikan wawasan baru tentang dinamika sosial dan kultural di Bali. Penelitian ini memiliki signifikansi terhadap pemahaman yang lebih mendalam mengenai posisi dan peran perempuan dalam masyarakat Bali, serta menyajikan perspektif baru dalam kajian feminisme dan sastra kultural. Temuan yang diperoleh menekankan pentingnya literatur sebagai sarana perlawanan dan ekspresi diri bagi perempuan dalam konteks budaya tradisional.

Abstract

Students in EFL countries like Indonesia are nowadays expected to have good English proficiency. Even though traditional classroom activities play an important role, it cannot be denied that learning activities outside the classroom also play a significant role. These activities, known as extramural English (EE) learning, can provide additional opportunities for language practice and exposure. This study used Systematic Literature Review (SLR) in order to examine the influence of EE towards EFL secondary school students. The PRISMA method was used to filter the articles to be reviewed, and from this, around 16 studies were selected that matched the inclusions and criteria. The results show that EE does indeed increase students' overall English language skills. Moreover, the implementation of EE can also increase students’ motivation level due to its fun, engaging, and supportive environment, which will later improve the learning outcomes obtained by students.
