Abstract

Lactation is the entire breastfeeding process starting from the production of breast milk (ASI) to the process of the baby sucking and swallowing breast milk. Mother's milk is the natural first food for babies. Low production and ejection of breast milk (ASI) in the first days causes many mothers to experience ineffective breastfeeding. The lack of production of breast milk is caused by a lack of stimulation of the hormone prolactin. The marmet technique is a combination of expressing and massaging the breasts of postpartum mothers which can stimulate hormones in the breastfeeding process. This study aims to determine the effect of the marmet technique on breastfeeding mothers. This research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental study approach (Quasi Experiment) using a Pre and post Test without Control design. This type of research is research without comparisons or groups that must be controlled. The target population in this study was all 15 breastfeeding mothers at the Community Health Center. The research was carried out in May-July 2023. The research results showed that 5 mothers (33.34%) had smooth breast milk production before being given the marmet technique and 11 people (73.34%) had fluency after being given the marmet massage. The statistical test results obtained a P-value of 0.011 (<0.05) where there was a significant difference in breast milk production before and after the marmet technique. Giving the marmet technique treatment causes breast milk to flow more smoothly. More respondents felt that the flow of breast milk was faster when breastfeeding

Abstract

Concentration is attention, thoughts and actions on an object by eliminating all unrelated things. Concentration as the basis for receiving lessons and as an indicator of assessing success in the learning process. One of the factors that influences concentration is the fulfillment of nutrients in the morning or breakfast. People in Indonesia still often skip breakfast, this may be because they are not used to having breakfast. The change in lifestyle in these students requires time to adapt. In addition, these second-year students have a busy schedule and various practicum class that were followed, so they were prone to skipping breakfast which will have an impact on student learning concentration. This study uses an analytical observational study type with a cross-sectional method. The sampling technique used is total sampling on second-year medical students. Data will be analyzed using the Pearson correlation test if it meets the parametric requirements and data will be analyzed using the Spearman correlation test if it does not meet the parametric requirements. This study aims to analyze the relationship between breakfast calories and learning concentration in students of the Medical Student Abdurrab University and to analyze the difference in concentration levels during breakfast and when not having breakfast in students of the Medical Education Study Program at Abdurrab University. The results of this study indicate that there is no relationship between the relationship between breakfast calories and the concentration of second-year students of the Faculty of Medicine, Abdurrab University with a p value of 0.14.

Abstract

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2019 stated that around 463 million people aged 20-79 years in the world suffer from diabetes mellitus. Indonesia is ranked seventh in the world suffering from diabetes mellitus. The highest wound prevalence in the world is incision wounds with a prevalence of 48%. Diabetes mellitus can inhibit the healing of incision wounds, because it increases the risk of infection due to impaired metabolic activity. Egg white is one of the traditional ingredients that can be used to heal incision wounds. In this study, duck egg white was used to see the effect of duck egg white gel on healing incision wounds in diabetic mice. This study is an experimental study with a post-test only with control group design with 16 mice divided into a positive control group, a negative control group, treatment group 1 with 10% duck egg white gel and treatment group 2 with 20% duck egg white gel. The treatment in the form of mice injected with alloxan 0.05 ml/head and incised on the back of the mouse with a length of 1 cm and a depth of 0.2 cm and the measurement of the remaining wound length using a caliper on days 3, 5, 7, and 14. Based on the One Way Anova test on days 3, 5, 7, and 14, a p value <0.05 was obtained which indicated that duck egg white gel with a concentration of 10% and 20% was effective in accelerating the healing of incision wounds in mice. Duck egg white gel with a concentration of 20% had the most adequate effectiveness in healing incision wounds in diabetic mice. Based on this study, administration of duck egg white gel with a concentration of 10% and 20% was effective in healing incision wounds in diabetic mice.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by increased blood glucose levels, which over time can cause damage to the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys and nerves. Some plants that are known to lower blood glucose levels are pineapple, which contains flavonoids in the pineapple tuber. Flavonoid compounds are known to have strong antioxidant activity. By giving pineapple tuber juice, it is hoped that it can reduce blood glucose levels, one of which is by regenerating damaged pancreatic beta cells and stimulating pancreatic beta cells to produce insulin. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of giving pineapple tuber (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr) juice on the glucose levels of male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by alloxan. This research method is experimental research that uses a "pretest - posttest with control group design". The samples used were 20 male Wistar rats. The mice were divided into 5 treatment groups consisting of a normal group, a negative control group which was induced by alloxan, a positive group which was given metformin, and a group which was given 100% and 50% concentrations of pineapple tuber juice. The results of this study through One Way ANOVA analysis showed that giving pineapple tuber juice with concentrations of 100% and 50% had a significant blood glucose reduction effect of p<0.05 in the negative control group. There was no significant difference p>0.05 between 100% and 50% concentrations of the positive control given metformin. The greatest decrease in blood sugar occurred at a concentration of 100%. The conclusion of this research is that pineapple tuber juice (Ananas comosus L. Merr) can reduce blood glucose levels in rats induced by alloxan with the largest reduction at a concentration of 100%.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is one of the most common health problems in pregnancy. The incidence of preeclampsia in Indonesia alone reaches 128,273 per year or around 5.3%. WHO estimates that the incidence of preeclampsia in developing countries is 2.8% compared to 0.4% in developed countries (Rijal, 2017). The prevalence rate of anemia in pregnant women worldwide is 43.9%. Indonesia is a developing country with a fairly high prevalence of anemia, namely 48.9% in pregnant women. 13.1% of pregnant women in Riau Province were diagnosed as suffering from anemia. In 2015, WHO published that 83.2% of pregnant women globally experienced anemia, while in Indonesia itself it is estimated that anemia can occur in 30% of pregnant women. According to the 2017 WHO report, the maternal mortality rate (MMR) in the world is 289,000 people. Meanwhile, MMR in Riau Province recorded 180 cases of maternal death in 2021. The prevalence of anemia in pregnancy is 40% globally. Meanwhile, MMR caused by severe preeclampsia and eclampsia in a number of developing countries is still quite high. In Indonesia, severe preeclampsia and eclampsia are the causes of 30-40% of maternal deaths. This study aimed tto determine the relationship between anemia in pregnant women and the incidence of preeclampsia at Arifin Achmad Hospital Pekanbaru. This type of research is quantitative observational analytic, with a retrospective cohort study design using a total sampling method. There is no relationship between anemia in pregnancy and insidence of preeclampsia (p = 0,169).

Abstract

Tinea pedis is a dermatophytosis of the feet, especially between the toes and soles of the feet. The cause of this disease is Tricophyton rubrum with signs of fissures surrounded by fine and thin scales. Tinea pedis is the second highest occupational disease in Europe. In Indonesia, tinea pedis is one of the top ten skin diseases and 65% of this disease is related to work, especially rubber farmers. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the habit of washing feet after work and the incidence of tinea pedis infection in rubber farmers in Lipat Kain Village, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency. This study used an observational analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique was total sampling that had met the inclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using the chi square test. The results of 40 samples obtained as many as 23 respondents with the habit of not washing their feet after work, around 16 (69.6%) respondents were infected with tinea pedis and as many as 17 respondents with the habit of washing their feet after work had no incidence of tinea pedis infection. Based on the chi square test with P = 0.000, the p value <0.05 was obtained, indicating that there is a significant relationship between the habit of washing feet after work and the incidence of tinea pedis infection in rubber farmers. Clean and healthy living behavior by maintaining cleanliness of the feet through the habit of washing feet after work for rubber farmers can reduce the incidence of tinea pedis infection
