Abstract

Teenage girls who use Instagram are currently exposed to unrealistic beauty standards, where filters, influencers, and ideal appearance content flood their feeds every day. This phenomenon not only shapes how teenagers view their own bodies, but also triggers negative body talk, which may increase the risk of body dissatisfaction among them. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between fat talk and body dissatisfaction among teenage girls who use Instagram in Pekanbaru. This study involved 216 respondents aged 10–22 years. This study used validated and reliable scales for fat talk and body dissatisfaction. The results of the analysis showed a positive and significant correlation between fat talk and body dissatisfaction (r = 0.726, p <0.05), indicating that frequent engagement in fat talk can increase the tendency toward body dissatisfaction.

Abstract

This study identifies the relationship between phubbing behavior and digital parenting styles on social anxiety among junior high school students in Purworejo Regency. A quantitative survey method was employed with a sample of 395 students aged 13–15 years (201 males and 194 females) selected through random sampling. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results revealed that phubbing had a significant positive effect on social anxiety (β = 0.617; p < 0.05), while digital parenting had a significant negative effect on social anxiety (β = -0.414; p < 0.05). Simultaneously, both variables exerted a significant influence (F = 7.950; p < 0.05) and were able to explain 57% of the variance in students’ social anxiety (R² = 0.570). These findings highlight that effective digital parenting can mitigate the negative impact of phubbing behavior and contribute to strengthening adolescents’ socio-emotional resilience in the digital era.

Abstract

Parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) face emotional, social, and spiritual pressures in the caregiving process, which require inner resilience to accept their child’s condition. One spiritual value that supports this process is qanaah, defined as conscious acceptance of Allah’s decree accompanied by continuous effort. This study aims to explore the meaning of qanaah based on the lived experiences of parents of children with ASD at UPTD PLDPI, Surakarta City. This study employed a qualitative phenomenological approach. Participants were purposively selected and consisted of four parents as primary informants and three therapists as supporting informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation, and were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The results show that qanaah is understood as an active acceptance that helps parents carry out caregiving in a calmer and more meaningful way. Qanaah is formed through acceptance of Allah’s decree, patience and sincerity, a balance between effort and reliance on God (tawakal), as well as inner peace strengthened by social support and religious practices. These findings emphasize the importance of spiritually strengthened family support programs in enhancing the psychological resilience of parents of children with special needs.

Abstract

University students experience high levels of academic pressure and consequently require social spaces to fulfill fundamental psychological needs, such as acceptance and connectedness. Leisure socializing (nongkrong) serves not only as a form of recreation but also as a context for fostering emotional bonds and developing social support. Nongkrong can be understood as a form of social leisure freely chosen by participants and providing psychological comfort, in line with Neulinger's Leisure Theory. This study aimed to examine the relationship between social support and life satisfaction among students who routinely engage in nongkrong. A total of 82 students from various universities in Surabaya (60 females, 22 males, mean age 19 years) participated through convenience sampling, with a criterion of gathering at least once a week. Data were collected using the Indonesian-adapted versions of the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and analyzed using Spearman correlation. The results showed a significant positive relationship between social support and life satisfaction (ρ = 0.490; p <.001), indicating that higher perceived social support in the context of nongkrong is associated with higher life satisfaction. These findings provide an empirical basis for developing campus well-being programs that consider students’ informal social practices.

Abstract

High demands within the modern public service sector frequently trigger occupational distress, negatively impacting employee mental health. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of leadership training in reducing psychological distress, specifically across the dimensions of depression, anxiety, and stress. Adopting a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design, the study involved 55 public service employees. The Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-42) was utilized to measure psychological conditions before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using paired samples t-tests. The results indicated a statistically significant decrease in all three dimensions: depression (p=0.010), anxiety (p=0.003), and stress (p=0.006), with the stress dimension showing the most substantial reduction. These findings conclude that leadership training interventions are effective in mitigating work distress and can serve as a preventive strategy to enhance psychological well-being within organizational environments. Supportive leadership quality is proven to be a vital resource for employees in managing workplace pressure.

Abstract

Fetal death in the womb at >20 weeks of gestation is called Intrauterine Fetal Death (IUFD). Although traumatic events have a negative impact on an individual's psychology, such experiences also have the potential to bring about positive growth, known as post-traumatic growth. This study aims to explore the process of post-traumatic growth in Muslim female psychologists who are survivors of IUFD using a qualitative single case study approach. The research subjects are a Muslim female psychologist who survived IUFD and her significant other. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed thematically through verbatim transcripts, repeated readings, coding with ATLAS.ti 25, grouping into sub-themes, and drawing patterns of post-traumatic growth, then presented in a narrative-descriptive manner. The results of the study show that subjects who lost their fetuses at 28 weeks of pregnancy felt deep sadness, shock, and denial of reality. The subjects then entered a turning point phase with social, spiritual, and psychological support. This process facilitated post-traumatic growth, which was characterized by more meaningful relationships with family, life orientation, strengthened spirituality, and greater empathy in their professional roles as psychologists. These findings imply the importance of social, spiritual, and mental health education support in post-trauma counseling.

Abstract

Counterproductive Work Behavior refers to intentional actions that harm the organization, involving unethical, illegal, or undesirable conduct. This study maps research on counterproductive work behavior through articles indexed in Scopus and published between 2020 and 2025, focusing on psychological perspectives. The PRISMA guidelines were used as the research framework, with an initial search identifying 1,349 articles, which were then filtered based on publication year, subject area, document type, thematic relevance, and geographical context. This process resulted in 56 articles, from which 37 focusing on psychological studies were selected for inclusion analysis. The findings indicate a significant increase in research trends in 2025, with a geographic concentration in China. This review highlights major research patterns and existing gaps, emphasizing the need for broader geographic coverage and more diverse methodological approaches for future research. These findings are expected to provide a strong foundation for developing theories and solutions to manage deviant behavior in the workplace.

Abstract

This study aimed to ex amine the contribution of ACEs to self-criticism among emerging adults in Padang City. A quantitative correlational design was employed with 101 emerging adults aged 18–25 years who had experienced at least one form of ACE, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected online using the Forms of Self-Criticizing/Attacking and Self-Reassuring Scale (FSCRS) and the World Health Organization Adverse Childhood Experiences International Questionnaire (WHO ACE-IQ). Multiple linear regression analysis. The findings indicated that ACEs significantly contributed to self-criticism. Partially, the dimensions of childhood maltreatment and family/household dysfunction showed significant contributions, whereas violence outside the home did not demonstrate a significant effect. These results suggest that adverse experiences occurring within the family environment play a critical role in shaping self-critical tendencies during emerging adulthood. This study highlights the importance of early prevention and psychological interventions targeting individuals with a history of childhood adversity.
