Abstract

Cases of sexual violence and abuse in Indonesia are increasingly common. Not only in adults, children are now victims. Some cases of victims or perpetrators involve underage children. Many parents feel taboo to talk about early childhood education with children. This causes children not to get information that is supposed to protect themselves from sexual violence. Need to do various efforts to provide education to children about knowledge to protect themselves from sexual violence. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of sexual violence education on children on efforts to protect from sexual violence. This study uses pre-experimental design with approach pretest-posttest design. The number of samples is 195 children taken by purposive sampling technique. Analyze data using  different Wilcoxon Signed Rank test with 95% significance level, p ? (0.05). The results showed that the average age of the respondents was 10.2 years and most of the men were 52.8%. Before giving education, the average score of respondents' knowledge about efforts to protect themselves from sexual violence was 6.7 and increased to 7.79 after giving education. There is a difference in knowledge about efforts to protect themselves from sexual violence before and after being given education (p value ? 0.001; <? = 0.05). It is recommended that the provision of information about sexual violence be given regularly by teachers and parents. Keywords: Education - Elementary School Age Knowledge - Efforts to Protect Themselves from Sexual Violence

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of e-learning media in science lessons on the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in primary school. Experimental research was conducted for four weeks with learning using e-learning media as an experimental group (n = 32) and using book-based learning as a control group (n = 30). This study used a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post- test control group design. The research instrument was taken from observations and scores on student learning outcomes.  The data were analyzed using quantitative statistical tests. Based on the data, the researchers know that a teacher plays an important role in developing student learning media through ICT-based e-learning learning design. Also, the results of the study based on the Mann-Whitney N-gain score of students' comprehension ability obtained a significance value of 0.00 <? = 0.05. So that H0 was rejected. This result shows that the ability of students to understand science using e-learning media is significantly better than students who get book-based learning.

Primary education is an important stage in the education process, being the foundation for other stages. When the foundation of a building is weak, such building stands the risk of collapse in future, but will stand the test of time if it is strong. Primary education provides opportunity for a child to acquire knowledge, skills, traits, and values that can make him/her excel at the secondary and tertiary levels. Unfortunately, there are unresolved issues in its provision in Nigeria. In this paper, inadequate access to it, wastage in its provision, unstable curriculum, teaching of subjects by a teacher, unstable management, among other issues, are examined. The paper recommend the orientation of parents and guardians, strong commitment of government in funding and resource provision, among others, to salvage the situation and move primary education forward from the status quo
