Abstract

The need for textbooks used in schools is one of the causes of learning difficulties among students. This development research aims to create picture-based textbooks about ASEAN countries with the integration of QR-Code technology in social studies content for sixth-grade elementary school students. This research and development uses the Dick & Carey development model. Research subjects are design experts, material experts, teachers, and students. Data collection method using questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The design and material expert validation test results are in the valid category. The practicality test showed very practical results, and the attractiveness test obtained a very attractive product. The development results are included in the effective criteria because student learning outcomes increased from the pretest to an increase during the posttest. Thus, learning using picture-based textbooks about ASEAN countries with QR-Code integration is more effective and improves student learning outcomes compared to not using textbooks. The research conclusions show that picture-based textbooks about ASEAN countries with QR-Code integration for class VI elementary schools are feasible and valid for learning. This research implies that teachers can use picture-based textbooks about ASEAN countries with QR-Code integration to support social studies learning for class VI elementary schools.

Abstract

Learning material in grade V elementary school begins to cover abstract matters. Students' level of interest in learning and activeness still needs to be higher. This research aims to create interactive media to articulate storyline 3 that is feasible and effective. The type of research used is research and development (RnD), based on the model developed by Borg and Gall with ten stages. The research subjects involved 105 grade V elementary school students. Data collection methods include interviews, observations and questionnaires. Interactive media is tested through initial, expanded, and operational trials. The effectiveness of interactive media was analyzed using a quasi-experiment in the experimental and control classes. The research results show that the validation test scores for interactive media products based on material experts are in the very feasible category, and the validation scores by media experts are in the very feasible category. The research results showed that there were significant differences in interactive media between the experimental class and the control class. Based on the data obtained, the interactive media Articulate Storyline 3 meets the appropriate and effective criteria for fifth-grade elementary school learning. The implications of this research can be used as a reference for teachers in choosing applications that can be used in developing interactive media.

Abstract

Active learning is a basic element that must be fulfilled to support the success of the learning process. However, student learning activeness has not emerged and the level of student self-efficacy is low and learning styles are varied. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-efficacy and learning styles on student learning activeness. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with a survey approach. The subjects in this study were social studies students in grades 4A and 4B, totaling 105 students. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire. While the data analysis technique uses the reliability test for normality test, T test, F test and hypothesis test. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between variables seen from the output on the T test and F test with a significance value of (2-tailed) 0.00 <0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between self-efficacy and learning style in student learning activity. Therefore, it is recommended that lecturers or teachers pay attention to each characteristic of each student, not only focusing on the material, but also on the active learning of each student, so that students can actively participate in learning and build enthusiasm and confidence in learning. In addition, it is necessary to have a learning support room that supports the learning style of each student, especially when studying in class.

Abstract

Students' scientific literacy in elementary school is currently low. This is due to the implementation of the learning process that was not in accordance with the purpose of science learning and the implementation of learning still tends to be teacher-centered. Students have not been able to use their science knowledge to solve the problems that related to daily life. The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of problem-based learning model with Balinese local wisdom on students' scientific literacy. The type of this research was quasi-experimental research. The population of this research were fifth grade of elementary school students. The research sample was selected by using random sampling with a total sample size of 55 students. Data were collected by test method. The instrument that used to collect data was scientific literacy test. The steps of data analysis were data description, prerequisite analysis test, and hypothesis testing. The study result showed significant differences in students' scientific literacy between groups of students who were taught with problem-based learning model with Balinese local wisdom and conventional learning model. Scientific literacy in students who learn with problem-based learning model with Balinese local wisdom are higher than students who learn with conventional learning model. This research implies that problem-based learning model with Balinese local wisdom can be used by teacher in learning to improve scientific literacy in students.

Abstract

Elementary school is the most basic level of formal education for children, so character education is important at this level. Moreover, the negative impact of information disclosure and technological advancement has penetrated the behaviour of elementary school students. This study aims to analyse the strategies and challenges in implementing character education in several elementary schools based on general interpretations of practitioners' experiences in the field. This is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. The subjects of this study consisted of 5 principals, 27 class teachers, and 55 parents. Sampling in this study used snowball sampling technique. The data collection method used interviews. Data analysis, including: data display, data condensation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study show that the implementation strategy of education in elementary schools, in the form of: character education implementation strategies through teaching and learning activities, extracurricular activities, exemplary, and habituation. Challenges faced by elementary schools in implementing character education include: incomplete school facilities, bad family conditions, and unsupportive community conditions. The conclusion of this study shows that: (1) elementary schools have not yet implemented a holistic character education implementation strategy, i.e. the implementation of character education through co-curricular activities; and (2) The main challenge of implementing character education in elementary schools is bad family conditions.

Abstract

Initial writing skills in elementary schools provide opportunities for students to build a solid foundation in writing. However, many students in elementary schools’ experience difficulties in developing initial writing skills, such as recognizing letters, forming words, and constructing coherent sentences. Lack of training and effective teaching leads to low student interest and motivation to learn to write. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers and parents in the success of teaching initial writing for second grade of elementary school students after doing online learning activities due to the covid-19 outbreak. This research was studied using a qualitative research method with a case study design. This research is based on primary data, namely second grade students and teachers, secondary data are field teachers who teach in second grade and vice principals of curriculum areas. Data collection technique used is interview (in-depth interview), observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used is Milles and Huberman which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Data credibility was also tested by means of triangulation of data sources. The research findings reveal that the first thing that needs to be understood in preparation for initial writing is students' motor readiness by continuing to practice writing pens, such as making straight lines, curves, etc. Teacher and parent assistance is optimized through WhatsApp Group by sharing educational videos about learning to write early. Appropriate teaching also gets good results with the ability of second grade of elementary school students to write meaningful and legible letters.

Abstract

The ability to read is an ability that must be possessed by students as the main capital in improving their quality. This study aims to produce learning media "Smart Board Random Words" to improve the reading skills of Indonesian language content for second grade elementary school students whose effectiveness has been tested. This study uses the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subject of development in this research is a product in the form of word scrambled smart board media, the object of development is content validity, user response, and product effectiveness. The test subjects in this study involved 55 grade II elementary school students, whose reading skills were used as the test object. Data collection methods and instruments used in this study were observation guidelines, interview guidelines, rating scales and questionnaires. Test product validity using the Gregory formula. Data analysis is using qualitative statistics and statistical inferential t-test technique. The results from content validation, teacher's and students' response showed that the random word smart board media obtained a very valid. The test results for the effectiveness of learning media show a result of 0.000 less than 0.05, which means that the product being developed has significant effectiveness. It was concluded that the learning media "Smart Board Random Words" can improve the reading skills of Indonesian language content for class II elementary school students.

Abstract

Fractions are one of the materials that could be clearer to understand for students and prospective MI teacher students. Problems in understanding fractions often arise due to the need for more connection with everyday life. This research aims to develop ethnomathematics-based fractional number e-modules. This research type uses the ADDIE model, which is limited to the development stage. The subjects involved in this study were experts consisting of material experts and media experts, as well as twelve students in second-semester class A as small group test subjects. Data collection in the study was carried out through observation, interviews, and questionnaires with research instruments in the form of module validation sheets, response questionnaires, and test questions. The data obtained were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results obtained from this development research are as follows: (1) the validity of the ethnomathematics-based fractional number e-module was declared valid with the results of the material expert review of 97.93% and the results of the media expert review of 96.66%, (2) the practicality of ethnomathematics-based fractional number e-module based on student responses is declared practical, namely with test results of 90.21% Based on these results, it can be concluded that the ethnomathematics-based fraction number e-module teaching materials developed are valid and practical qualifications.

Abstract

Improving school waste management knowledge is one way to make schools cleaner and more comfortable. Based on the analysis, there is still much garbage scattered in the elementary school environment, even though there is material about the rights and obligations towards the environment contained in the learning material in the classroom. Based on the analysis, less varied learning models are used during learning to improve waste management knowledge on the material of rights and obligations towards the environment. This study aims to analyze the Eco-enzyme project-based learning (PjBL) learning model's role in improving waste management knowledge of SDGs 12.5. The research design applied is a true experiment using the fifth grade, consisting of two classes, namely, class 5A, which acts as an experimental class, and class 5B, which acts as a control class. The data collection techniques applied were interviews, tests, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were paired t-test and determination coefficient test. The results showed that the Eco-enzyme project-based learning (PjBL) model played a role in increasing knowledge of waste management SDGs 12.5 based on the results of the paired t-test and the coefficient of determination, a significant increase in the post-test results of waste management knowledge SDGs 12.5 in the experimental class of 81.6%. The project-based learning (PjBL) eco-enzyme learning model increases knowledge of waste management SDGs 12.5.

Abstract

Lack of learning media makes learning boring, and students lack awareness of problems surrounding each other and the environment. This research aims to create Tri Hita Karana-based learning video media by testing the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the media used to improve student learning outcomes. This type of research is Research and Development with the ADDIE model. The subjects of this research were 3 experts, namely media experts, learning design experts and learning content experts to assess the suitability of the media, 1 teacher, and 27 grade V elementary school students involved in the practicality test and effectiveness test. The trial design used in this research is a pre-test and post-test design. The data collection methods used were questionnaires, observations and tests. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results show that the feasibility index for media experts and material testing is very good, and learning design experts are in a good category. The results of individual practicality tests, small group tests and student response tests are very good. The results of hypothesis testing on learning video media were declared effective in improving the learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. This research concludes that the media developed is feasible, practical and effective in improving student learning outcomes in social studies learning content.
