Abstract

This study was motivated by the problem of students' weak reading literacy and 4C skills in elementary schools. Reading literacy and 4C skills are essential components of 21st-century education that need to be developed through effective learning processes. The research aims to analyze the effect of the Independent Curriculum teaching modules on improving reading literacy and 4C skills among fourth-grade elementary students. A quantitative approach with an experimental design was employed in this study. The sample consisted of 148 fourth-grade students selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques included tests to measure reading literacy and observation sheets to assess 4C skills. Instrument validity and reliability tests were conducted to ensure the quality of the research tools. Data analysis was performed using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) to test the research hypotheses. The results indicate that the Independent Curriculum teaching modules significantly influence the improvement of students' reading literacy and 4C skills. In conclusion, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum teaching modules enhances students' ability to comprehend texts and develop essential 21st-century skills needed to face future challenges.

Abstract

The learning model plays a crucial role in ensuring students' conceptual understanding through active and meaningful learning experiences. A structured and collaborative model fosters a conducive learning environment, encouraging students to actively grasp concepts. This study aims to develop a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by manipulative media to enhance elementary students' conceptual understanding of area and volume measurement. The study follows a Research & Development approach using the ADDIE model, with fourth-grade elementary students as research subjects. Data collection techniques include interviews, classroom observations, and tests. The data were analyzed qualitatively using descriptive analysis. The findings reveal that students became more actively engaged in the learning process and were able to connect abstract concepts through hands-on practice using manipulative media. The independent learning activity level reached 91.84%, while group activities achieved 96.85% in the first session and 97.30% in the second session. The test results on area and volume measurement indicated a mastery learning rate of 96.76%. Students' conceptual understanding fell into the very high category, with a mastery percentage between 85-100% based on the Criterion-Referenced Assessment scale. The study concludes that implementing the PBL model assisted by manipulative media effectively enhances students' conceptual understanding and promotes their active participation in collaborative problem-solving activities.

Abstract

This research is driven by the urgent need to ensure that prospective elementary school teachers possess adequate 4C skills (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity) to meet the challenges of 21st-century education, particularly in the context of materials and changes lectures. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a 4C skills instrument for prospective elementary school teachers in lectures on the topic of matter and its changes. The approach used was quantitative with a survey design involving 400 elementary school teacher education students in Indonesia. The sample selection was based on simple random sampling technique. Findings from the PLS-SEM analysis of the measurement model showed that the convergent validity test value through factor loading for communication skills (CMC), collaboration (CLB), critical thinking (CTC), creativity (CTV), and lecturer assignments (C) showed values greater than 0.6 and and the Average Variance Extracted (AVE) value showed values greater than 0.5. The Reliability test value through the composite Reliability (CR) value for each variable shows a value greater than 0.7 and the Cronbach's Alpha value shows a value greater than 0.6. Based on this value, the instrument is declared valid and reliable so that the instrument can be used.

Abstract

This study addresses the urgent need to develop problem-solving skills among elementary school students as a fundamental basis for effective learning processes. The research aims to analyze the effectiveness of a geometry framework based on ethnomathematics-collaborative augmented reality in enhancing students' problem-solving abilities. This experimental research employs a quantitative approach with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The study involved 30 fourth-grade elementary school students as subjects. The effectiveness of the framework was measured using pre-test and post-test methods. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics, with the Paired Sample T-Test applied to test the hypothesis, utilizing IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows version 21.0. The results indicated a significant difference in students' problem-solving abilities before and after the implementation of the geometry framework. The post-test results showed a notable improvement in students' problem-solving skills compared to the pre-test. The application of the ethnomathematics-collaborative augmented reality framework proved effective in providing contextual, collaborative, and technology-based learning experiences, which significantly enhanced students' problem-solving capabilities. Therefore, this framework offers a relevant innovation in geometry learning for elementary education, promoting the integration of local cultural values into the learning process and supporting students’ cognitive development through problem-solving tasks.

Abstract

Local wisdom is essential to introduce to students, but only a few schools can introduce local wisdom from the local area and integrate it into learning material. The teaching materials used by teachers also do not contain material based on local wisdom. This impacts students who need to learn the local wisdom of the area where they live, and their learning outcomes decrease. This research aims to test the validity, effectiveness, and practicality of Bondowoso's local wisdom-based LKPD to improve student learning outcomes. This type of research is development research. The model used to develop products is the Borg and Gall model. The subjects of this research were class IV students. Data collection methods use observation techniques, interviews, questionnaires and learning outcomes tests. Data analysis techniques use product validation, t-test, relative effectiveness test, student response, and practicality test. The validation results carried out by 4 validators achieved a score of 94.75 in the very feasible category. The relative effectiveness test result was 43.43% with the medium effectiveness category. The results of calculating student responses scored 97.67 in the very effective category. The practicality test by the observers received a score of 94.25 in the convenient category. It was concluded that the LKPD based on Bondowoso local wisdom was valid, effective and practical for use in learning.

Abstract

Reading difficulties are a common problem faced by early grade elementary school students who have learning difficulties. Students' reading difficulties will have an impact on low student learning outcomes and will have an impact on students' acquisition of knowledge at the next level. The aims of this study is to analyze teacher’s strategy to overcome students early reading difficulties. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 1 school principal, 2 teachers, and 16 grade II elementary school students. Data collection techniques using interview techniques, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are the strategies used by teachers comprises of differentiated instructions, assessments to determine the next suited treatment based on students’ needs, and the use of learning media based on students’ level of reading skill. It can be concluded that the teachers as someone who is responsible for their students must be aware of their needs and best suited strategies that met students’ needs.

Abstract

The problem that became the basis of this study is the anti-social attitude of a person after the government's policy for social distancing due to the covid-19 pandemic two years ago. Friday shodaqoh activities is one of the routine activities once a week in formal institutions. The purpose of this study is to analyze grow caring attitudes for students in formal institutions. A descriptive qualitative method is used in this study, which is directed at knowing the analysis of Friday shodaqoh in fostering students' social awareness attitudes. As for the meeting technique conducted by researchers through questionnaires and interviews, researchers then analyzed the results of questionnaires and interviews. Then after the data is collected, the data is tested for validity through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results showed that the activities of Shodaqoh Friday become the bridge for students in school in the growth of developing social awareness attitudes. Forms of social care attitudes include attitudes of devotion, perspectives to help each other, kindship attitudes, loyal attitudes, caring attitudes, democratic attitudes, attitudes of cooperation, disciplinary attitudes, attitudes of tolerance, and empathy. This study implies that it can be used as input for the government, stakeholders, leaders, and teachers in implementing Friday shodaqoh activities so that the quality of education is better by prioritizing the success of student outcomes. Implementing Friday shodaqoh activities built in formal institutions is expected to finish the institution's success in printing generations with a social awareness attitude.

Abstract

In the current era of digital technology development, free-access design platforms can be used in education as an alternative technology-based learning medium. Researchers found that in elementary schools, social studies learning still used conventional methods such as lectures and very rarely used instructional media, so students were bored while studying. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effect of using Storyboard That media on students' critical thinking skills on the material of the Proclamation of Independence. This study used the Storyboard That website along with 5 essay questions with a cognitive level of C4-C6 (analyze, evaluate, create). This research is a Quasi-Experimental with Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The number of samples consisted of class VI A totaling 22 students as the control class and class VI B totaling 22 students as the experimental class. Data analysis techniques consisted of prerequisite tests of normality and homogeneity tests and Independent Sample T-tests. The Independent Sample T-test data results on the pretest data were 0.539 > 0.05 and the post-test. (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05. So, it can be concluded that there were significant differences in students' critical thinking skills between the experimental group that used Storyboard That media and the control class that only used conventional lecturing methods. It is proven that Storyboard That encourages students to think critically through various visualization stimuli. This implementation allows teachers to use it as appropriate social studies learning media to improve elementary school students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The low ability to analyze learning models will be an obstacle for PGSD (Primary School Teacher Education) students in choosing and implementing learning models that match the learning materials and student characteristics. To improve the analytical skills of PGSD students, the SeDiCreSig method was applied. This study aims to analyze the analytical skills of PGSD students regarding innovative learning models in mathematics in elementary schools (SD) using the SeDiCreSig method. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study are all 5th-semester PGSD students. The sample used in this study was 70 PGSD students divided into two classes taking the Mathematics Internship course. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, pretest, and posttest. The data were analyzed by the SPSS 23-assisted t-test. The results of this study indicated an increase in the ability of PGSD students to analyze innovative mathematical learning models after learning using the SeDiCreSig method. The use of the SeDiCreSig method makes it easier for lecturers to direct students in practicing analytical skills and implementing innovative learning models, especially in learning mathematics. The success of learning the SeDiCreSig method must be supported by actual activities that students directly carry out.

Abstract

The lack of variation in the assessment of the psychomotor domain in science learning in elementary schools and the need for appropriate assessment instruments in online practical learning. The study aimed to analyze the quality of the development of the psychomotor assessment instrument for fifth-grade elementary school children on limb material. This type of research is development research. The subjects of this study were 87 students in grade 5 elementary school. Retrieval of data with self-assessment sheets was carried out using the Google form. The questionnaire consists of 10 statement items with four answer choices. Sampling technique with purposive sampling. The criteria used in the decision were: 5th-grade elementary school students who had studied limb material. Content validity was verified using Aiken's V formula and construct validity using EFA. Calculation of instrument reliability using the Alpha Cronbach formula. The results of this study are that the psychomotor domain assessment instrument has valid and reliable instrument criteria. The instrument used has a validity value in the "Very valid" category and a reliability value in the "High" category. It can be concluded that the use of psychomotor assessment with nine development steps for elementary science learning can be used properly.
