Abstract

The large number of Guidance and Counseling teachers who still need peace concepts and skills that are useful for themselves and the school has an impact on the lack of effectiveness of the guidance process given by teachers to students. So, this research was carried out to determine the program to increase personal competence at peace and identify the personal competence of peace teachers based on gender background, centrality, and length of working period. This research uses a quantitative type with a quasi-experimental approach to one group pre-post test design. The research subjects were 27 Guidance and Counseling Teachers. The research was divided into five stages using brainstorming, games, role-playing, cinema therapy, and assignment methods. Data collection used a questionnaire with the Teacher Peace Competency Development Scale instrument. The data analysis technique uses T-test analysis and simple regression. The research results show differences in peace competency from the knowledge and skills aspects, with a pretest of 51.74 and a posttest of 75.04. Then there is no difference in teacher gender in peace competency, but the average for male guidance and counseling teachers is higher than for female guidance and counseling teachers. The peace competency of BK teachers is the same from a background in the BK department and those who are not in the BK department, and there is a difference in the peace competency of BK teachers seen from the length of time they have worked. This research recommends that guidance and counseling teachers strengthen their knowledge and skills of peace to become personal role models of peace in their respective schools.

Abstract

Peer counseling can serve as a promising approach to tackle the challenges faced by college students during the critical transition from late adolescence to young adulthood. This form of counseling offers a safe space for them to openly share and discuss their issues. However, research focusing on readily applicable peer counseling materials tailored for the college context remains limited. This study endeavors to bridge this gap. Adopting a research and development design, this article aims to develop a peer counseling module grounded in experiential learning, specifically designed for two faculties in university. The potential users of the module include two counselors and twelve counselees from each respective faculty. The development process follows the Borg & Gall framework, incorporating data collection methods such as focused group discussions, expert validation checklists, and observations. The research findings indicate that the module has been well-received by three experts, who found it to be suitable and relevant, offering constructive feedback for further improvement. During the field test, the developed module proved to be instrumental in assisting counselors in comprehending the implementation stages of peer counseling grounded in experiential learning. Theoretical and practical implications of this research are discussed in-depth, shedding light on the potential impact and relevance of integrating experiential learning into peer counseling practices in higher education.

Abstract

Several regions in Indonesia that have good work ethic values, the Madura region also has a variety of work ethic values that are full of meaning and good for application in their respective professional fields. Unfortunately, to this day most ordinary people are more focused on a small number of problems that appear in the media related to Madurese society. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the concept of the ideal character of counselors based on the values of the Madurese work ethic as an effort to improve the professional competence of school counselors in providing assistance services to students at school. This study use qualitative research, Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutic approach which includes a variant of discourse analysis to interpret the message structure and the various functions of language stored in the Madurese Tor-cator (philosophical words). The main data is comes from the results of a previous study then strengthened through observation and field interviews. This study shows that the work ethic values of the Madura Tor-cator are very relevant to the professional orientation of school counselors. The results of this study provide an important contribution to enrichment materials for increasing the competence of school counselors based on regional local wisdom values.

Abstract

The difficulty of adapting to a new environment means that some early adult individuals, such as students, need good relationships in learning to adapt slowly to perceived differences. Due to cultural differences, new students need competencies or abilities to adapt to the cultural differences. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the relationship between cross-cultural competence and adjustment in migrant students from South Sulawesi. This research is included in quantitative research with a correlation design. The subjects involved in this research were 102 students who had migrated to Salatiga, and the sampling technique used was snowball sampling. The research collected data using a psychological scale as a questionnaire, which will be distributed online via Google Forms. Data analysis used Pearson and Spearman correlation tests. The results of data analysis show that cross-cultural competence shows a significant positive relationship with the academic adjustment component (0.402) and the social adjustment component (0.527). Then, the personal-emotional adjustment component (0.318). Lastly, with the institutional attachment component (0.376). Cross-cultural competence has a relationship with self-adjustment. In this way, migrant students must prepare by studying their destination city, such as culture, weather, bureaucracy, and other things, to adjust more quickly and cope with the demands of a new place.

Abstract

An insecure country cannot develop effectively, whatever its laudable development goals and objectives. The most challenging aspect of divided societies is that they face special obstacles in maintaining peace caused by various factors, one of which is religion and belief. The study aims to analyze the perception of stakeholders on the impact of religious counselling on national safety. A descriptive research design of survey type was used. The sample size was 50 male and female respondents which consisted of 10 religious leaders, 5 counselling professionals and 35 security personnel. Religious Counselling National Safety Questionnaire (RCNSQ) was the data collection instrument.  The analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistical tool was used for testing the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The finding showed that there is no significant difference in the perception of the stakeholders on the impact of religious counselling on national safety (p.> 0.05). The study concluded that the professional counsellors, religious leaders and security personnel perceived that religious counselling has positive impacts on national safety. Based on the conclusion, the study recommended that the government should employ professional religious counsellors in schools and security agencies. This would assist in dealing with the people who are traumatized by the negative happenings that are threatening national safety.

Abstract

The emergence of various new jobs means individuals must be confident in their career decisions. The problem for high school students is that students tend to need more confidence in deciding on the right career direction. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of solution-focused career self-counseling in improving high school students' career decision-making efficacy. This research method uses a quantitative approach with an experimental research type. The sampling technique in this research used a purposive sampling technique, and five subjects were obtained for the research. Researchers adapted an instrument from Taylor & Betz known as the CDMSE scale. They developed a counseling guide by adapting Burwell & Chen's concept, with the study's results showing increased research from low interpretation to high interpretation. Based on the results of this research, solution-focused career counseling can be used to increase students' career decision-making self-efficacy. This research implies that confidence in students' career decisions can be improved and maintained through solution-focused career counseling, creating valuable experiences with teachers and parents.

Abstract

Catcalling is a type of sexual harassment that often occurs in public spaces. The act of catcalling is sometimes seen as usual by society, but it can psychologically impact individuals if they experience catcalling. This research aims to describe the psychological well-being of teenagers who experience catcalling and analyze the factors that influence the psychological well-being of teenagers who experience catcalling. This research uses a qualitative phenomenological approach. The informants are teenagers aged 13-15 years with the criteria of having experienced catcalling and being in the early teenage development stage. There were 15 informants. Data collection techniques used semi-structured interviews. The data analysis technique in this research uses the Colaizi model, where each transcript is identified, checked for accuracy, and analyzed. The results of the study show that teenagers who experience catcalling feel that their psychological well-being is disturbed. In contrast, informants feel that their happiness is disturbed, they have less satisfaction in their lives, tend to experience stress, lack physical and psychological well-being, and experience difficulties maintaining the quality of life with Good. The results of other analyzes also show that the factors that influence the psychological well-being of teenagers who experience catcalling consist of age, gender, religiosity, personality stress, and social support.

Abstract

The developmental transition from adolescence to adulthood involves many developmental demands, so many individuals experience the Quarter-life crisis phenomenon. Individuals experiencing this crisis may experience increased psychological distress. Psychological distress can disrupt life, so it needs to be treated seriously. This research aims to determine the relationship between psychological inflexibility and psychological distress in individuals experiencing a quarter-life crisis. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Participants consisted of 107 individuals aged 20-29 who were experiencing a quarter-life crisis and were selected using purposive sampling. Research measurements were conducted using The Hopkins Symptoms Checklist-25 (α = 0.894) and Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II (α = 0.822). Data analysis was carried out using simple regression test statistical techniques. The results of the analysis show that high psychological inflexibility can predict higher psychological distress (R2 = 0.249; p < 0.001). Psychological inflexibility contributed 24.9% to psychological distress. It can be concluded that individuals in QLC who have rigid psychological reaction patterns can experience more severe symptoms of anxiety and depression. Research findings are helpful for practitioners to target interventions that focus on reducing psychological inflexibility so that psychological distress can be reduced.

Abstract

The large number of students who experience anxiety about communicating in public is generally caused by a lack of self-confidence when communicating in public, so to overcome this problem, guidance is needed to improve students' abilities. This research aims to determine whether behavioral counseling using systematic desensitization techniques effectively reduces students' communication anxiety. This research is classified as quantitative using a quasi-experimental approach with a Non-equivalent Control Group design. The population in this study was 199 junior high school students. Sampling was carried out by scanning to obtain subjects, so 32 students were obtained as respondents, then divided into 2, where the results obtained were 16 students who had high category anxiety in communicating in public. Data collection on public communication anxiety was collected using this research data collection method using primary data,  a questionnaire technique with a Likert scale. Instrument validity testing was carried out by consulting with experts (expert judgment), while instrument reliability testing used the Alpha Cronbach formula. The results of the research analysis show that the calculated F' score (F'h) is 26.923 with a degree of freedom (df) of 31 and a significance score (Sig) of 0.00. This score is compared with the F table score (F't), which has the same df. As a result, the calculated F' score (26.923) is greater than the table F' score (2.659). So, based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that behavioral counseling using systematic desensitization techniques has proven effective in reducing junior high school students' anxiety about communicating in public.

Abstract

The large number of students who face behavioral adjustment problems impacts students' unpreparedness for work demands, even though vocational school students must have a good work ethic and be competitive. This research aims to see a picture of the effectiveness of implementing game technique strategies through group guidance services for Vocational High School (SMK) students. This research uses an experiment with a quantitative approach and a one-group pretest and post-test design. The population of this study was 85 class X vocational school students. The research was conducted using a purposive sampling technique, with the final sample size being ten vocational school students. Data collection was carried out using the student work ethic scale. The data obtained was then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis techniques. The results of the data analysis show that a significance score of 0.005<0.05 is obtained, which means that the hypothesis is accepted. Based on these results, game techniques significantly influence the development of the work ethic of vocational school students.
