Abstract

Milk cooperative has struggled in facing numerous challenges as the complexity of its organization increase constantly, yet the cooperative is lack of capability to tackle the impediments. Under that circumstances, a milk cooperative which prone to fail in supplying a good quality of raw milk need to collaborate in order to keep the operational at a bearable cost. Since such strategy objective demand high technological equipment for its cold chain, milk cooperative has no choice but to be open and collaborate with academicians, business partners, communities, and government. Through a case study, this paper shows the practicality implementation of open innovation in one of the leading milk cooperatives in Indonesia. In order to provide a better understanding, the use of Porters value chain in mapping the milk chain and its innovation partners are presented. The mapping also being transformed into the rich picture to elevate the clarity regarding roles of each stakeholder along the value chain in boosting milk cooperative value proposition. The result shows the open innovation concept is applicable at any stage of the milk chain and the practice has proven in increasing cooperative innovativeness.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of the Industry 4.0 approach on Corporate Communication in the German manufacturing industry. Industry 4.0 is currently one of the most discussed topics within the German industry with its aim to strengthen the competitiveness of German manufacturers. Industry 4.0 comprises the entire life-cycle of a product through an intelligent networked production. Smart factories symbolize the main objective of Industry 4.0 by implementing Cyber-Physical Systems, the Internet of Things and Internet of Services. The impact of Industry 4.0 on Corporate Communication has not yet been investigated. Therefore, a significant gap of research exists, which will be closed by this study on the impacts of Industry 4.0 on internal as well as external communication. The study was conducted through primary data collection, using a mono-method qualitative research technique in form of semi-structured expert interviews. The sampling comprises six interviewees from varying industry sectors in Germany. The interview partners were chosen due to their expertise on thematic aspects of Corporate Communication and/or Industry 4.0 within organisations which deal with Industry 4.0 implementations. The sampling represents different perspectives on Industry 4.0 as it illustrates different Industry 4.0 operators and Industry 4.0 service providers. Data is examined by a thematic analysis approach involving a vertical and horizontal analysis of the cases. Deriving from the data analysis and findings, an overview of the impact and potential opportunities for manufacturers is formulated. Lastly, to conclude the topic a prospective outlook will be given.

Abstract

The established modified group chain acceptance sampling plans (MGChSP) only considered the consumer’s risk when developing the plans and turned down the producer’s risk, which means the established MGChSP satisfied the consumer but not the producer. Based on the above problem, this article proposes the minimum angle method for the MGChSP as the method considers both risks (consumer’s and producer’s) simultaneously. In order to develop the proposed MGChSP, the generalized exponential distribution is chosen as its lifetime distribution, and the time truncated simulation is done. The simulation produces the optimal number of groups,  at different values of specified design parameters. It turns out that the  satisfies both parties, consumer and producer, while the number of groups for the established MGChSP only satisfied the consumer. For application purpose, failure time (in hours) for computer software is used in order to demonstrate the usage of MGChSP in the industry.

Abstract

Preserving the integrity of halal food has become increasingly complex since its supply chain undergo numerous production processes and distribution stages performed by different organisations. The longer the supply chain is, the greater its vulnerability and complexity. Concurrently, the rise in the number of halal food product status revocation indicates their non-compliance with Shariah requirements. As such, this study aims to investigate the influences of halal practices integrity, halal supply chain trust and halal supply chain commitment on Malaysia halal food supply chain performance. 212 questionnaires were distributed to the participants of Malaysia Halal Expo and the responses were analysed using Smart PLS. The inclusion of halal supply chain trust and halal supply chain commitment in the conceptual model revealed a complementary mediation influence on the relationship between halal practices integrity and supply chain performance. The findings of this study have significantly contributed to both theories and practices by enhancing halal integrity in the food supply chain.

Abstract

In order to ensure continuous demand for products in cases where it is impossible or economically inexpedient to fully combine the product supply volume and terms with the moments of appearing demand for it in the occasional demand supply chains, the necessity for inventory appears. High cost of maintaining inventory and significant losses due to its deficit cause an important issue of determining the rational inventory in occasional demand supply chains. The article proposes a model for determining the rational inventory with a fixed period of its replenishment and occasional demand. The peculiarity of the model consists in taking into account the finite, but a priori unknown, quantity of consumers characteristic of real demand and using small samples to characterize the model parameters. It allows for more adequate, comparing to the traditional model use, determination of rational inventory of the products in the supply chains.

Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyses the performance of companies of the slaughterhouse industry in health and safety issues. The research method is the quantitative modelling. The main research technique uses a mixed method based on multi-attribute utility method (MAUT) and artificial neural networks (ANN). The research object are 34 slaughterhouse companies located in Southern Brazil. Then, we ranked the companies and modeled their decision trees using the MAUT method. From these results, neural networks were used to benchmark and compare the methods. This resulted in a linear equation that represents the closest solution to the ideal and percentage error in the decision trees resolution. Thus, neural networks are most efficient, because they indicate which KPIs (key performance indicators) most influence the organizations performance. We numerically present the gain of information and the margin of error, concluding that some KPIs do not influence competitiveness without requiring controls. The academic and social contribution is that through the union of MAUT and neural networks we can measure the performance and select the main KPIs that need to be controlled for any type of industry.

Abstract

Abstract-Due to the economic sanction the Russian Federation has taken a vigorous attempt to compensate the risk for the national economy stipulated by restriction with access to the capital markets and supply chain strategy by constraints to compete in international markets. Imposition of the special administrative regions is a respond to the sanctions by the United States and a few countries in order to minimize possible financial losses. In an uncertain recovery, supply chain operations need to be more scalable and flexible as they anticipate economic recovery and increase capacity. In practice, a special administrative area appears as offshore financial center. However, its goal is broader – to ensure the repatriation of capital withdrawn off the Russian jurisdiction in 1998-2018. The aim of study is to estimate the capital which will prospectively be returning to Russia until 2025 through the special administrative regimes at Russkiy island and Oktyabr’skiy island in the Russian Federation. The findings show that the capital flight off the Russian economy has amounted to 653.2 billion US dollars for the last 20 years. But viewing the result of sanction’s pressure, by 2025, the total return of capital from the offshores at Cyprus and the Virgin Islands could prognostically reach 165.55 billion dollars. Special administrative region’s preferences will motivate large foreign holdings, especially those that have fallen under sanctions, to change their registration to the Russia’s domicile. Therefore, the special administrative regions could prospectively facilitate investment inflow and stipulate recovering the Russia’s economy.

Abstract

The study is carried out with an objective to explore the impact of green supply chain management on different performance measures such as environmental performance, operational performance and financial performance. In addition to that, the mediating role of operational performance and the environmental performance in the relationship between green supply chain management and the financial performance is also examined. The study has broached a new perspective, that is external and internal GSCM practices are essential in the SC strategies, as these practices facilitate firms in enhancing market share and profits only when jointly implemented, by improving ecological efficiency and minimizing environmental risks. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to examine the interrelationships between GSCM approaches, performance, and environmental drivers. SEM-PLS is used to achieve the research objective of the current study. The study which is on Indonesian is in author knowledge is among few pioneering studies exploring the interaction of green supply chain management as determinant of firm performance measures. This study will be helpful for policymakers and researchers in examining the link between supply chain management on different performance measures such as environmental performance, operational performance and financial performance for Indonesian settings.

Abstract

Abstract- This study aims to examine the supply chain strategy in causal relationship between world CPO price causality, production and marketing margin price using the Granger causality approach in the period January 2006-December 2017. This research proves that: (i) The results of the bivariate causality test explain that Indonesian CPO production has a single causality direction with world CPO prices. (ii) The results of the impulse response function and variance decomposition explain that the shock of the marketing margin variable gives a fluctuating response to fluctuations in world CPO prices, but the response is always positively given by the shock marketing margin in response to changes experienced by the variable world CPO prices. The results of this study are efforts to increase the price of CPO in the country by encouraging the development of palm oil derivative industries in increasing derivatives of high economic value products.
