Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the interaction between chicken manure fertilizer dosage treatment and variety treatment, as well as their individual factors, on the growth and yield of Ensabi and local segau plants in sandy soil. The research was conducted for 4 months at the Experimental Garden of the University of Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya. This polybag research used a Randomized Block Design (RBD). Factor I: chicken manure fertilizer dosage treatment (A) consisted of 5 levels, namely: A1= 5 t ha-1, A2= 10 t ha-1, A3= 15 t ha-1, A4= 20 t ha-1, and A5= 25 t ha-1, and Factor II: segau/Dayak mustard variety treatment (V), namely: Ensabi segau variety (V1) and local segau variety (V2).The results showed that the interaction between chicken manure fertilizer dosage treatment and local segau variety had a significant effect on the variable of leaf number at 21 days after planting (DAP). The treatment of 25 t ha-1 chicken manure fertilizer with the local segau variety (V2A5) resulted in the highest leaf number, which was 13.33 leaves, but was not significantly different from other treatments, except for the Ensabi variety with 5 t ha-1 chicken manure fertilizer (V1A1) which resulted in 8.00 leaves. The single treatment of chicken manure fertilizer dosage had a significant effect on the variables of leaf number at 21 DAP and shoot weight at 21 DAP. The single treatment of segau variety had a very significant effect on the variables of leaf area at 14 DAP and 21 DAP, and shoot weight at 21 DAP (at harvest). The segau variety treatment did not have a significant effect on plant height at 14 DAP and 21 DAP, leaf number at 14 DAP and 21 DAP, root length, and plant fresh weight. The research results indicate that the local variety is more efficient to be planted on sandy soil with a chicken manure fertilizer dosage of 5 t ha-1. Keywords : Ensabi, Dayak mustard, chicken manure fertilizer dosage, segau, sandy soil

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of vulnerability of forest and land fires in South Dusun District, South Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. Dusun Selatan sub-district is an area that is vulnerable to the threat of forest and land fires every year, so mapping and analyzing the level of vulnerability is important to identify high-risk areas and develop appropriate mitigation strategies. This research uses a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach by considering several main factors, namely land cover, distance from roads, distance from rivers, slope, and soil type. Spatial and attribute data related to these factors were obtained from various sources and analyzed using overlay and weighting techniques. The mapping results show that most of the Dusun Selatan Sub-district area is safe from the risk of forest and land fires, covering around 59.09% or around 70,672.13 hectares of the total area. This information can be used by local governments and other stakeholders in the context of planning and decision-making related to the management and protection of forest areas, as well as the development of mitigation and preparedness strategies in facing the threat of forest and land fires in Dusun Selatan Sub-district.

Abstract

White kepok bananas are known to the people of Tabunganen District, Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan as kepok timbatu. Kepok timbatu bananas have the potential to be developed as a raw material banana flour so they have the potential to be widely cultivated. This will have an impact on the need for seeds on a large scale. The need for banana plants itself has an obstacle, namely the limited availability of plant seeds. The solution to overcome this problem is to use micropropagation techniques. This technique can produce a lot of seeds in a short time. The success of which is influenced by using cytokinin growth regulator, such as BAP. BAP is widely used in tissue culture to stimulate shoot formation and multiplication. The aims of this research were to determine the effect of BAP concentration and the best BAP concentration on the multiplication of timbatu banana shoot subcultures. The research was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor, i.e. BAP concentration (3, 5, 7, and 9 mg L-1), with 5 replications for each treatment, so there were 20 treatment units. Each experimental unit consisted of 4 bottles, so there were 80 planting bottles. Observations including time browning appeared, percentage of browning, time shoots appeared, number of shoots, number of leaves, number of roots and shoot height. The result showed that there was no significant effect of BAP concentration to all observed variables.

Abstract

Wakawondu rice is a traditional food crop in North Buton, Southeast Sulawesi, cultivated for 400 years without chemical fertilizers. Local farmers now face soil fertility challenges due to changes in farming practices brought about by limited land availability. This study aims to analyze the nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P ₂ O₅ ), and potassium (K₂ O) content in homemade organic fertilizer and its impact on the growth of wakawondu rice in marginal lands. The organic fertilizer was prepared from a mixture of rice husks, sawdust, banana stalks, tofu residue, sugar, and EM4, incubated for 60 days. Nutrient content was measured using destruction and spectrophotometric analysis. The effectiveness of the fertilizer was tested by compa ring the growth of wakawondu rice under three conditions: homemade organic fertilizer, no fertilizer, and factory-produced compost. The results indicated that the NPK content in the homemade organic fertilizer effectively promoted plant height but had no significant effect on leaf number and width. The study concludes that homemade organic fertilizer has potential to enhance rice growth on marginal lands, though its effect on leaf parameters remains limited. Further research is recommended to optimize ferti lizer formulation and understand other factors impacting crop productivity.
