Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku
Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku, with registered number ISSN 2581 0421 (online, is published by Department of Psychology Universitas Andalas. Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku publishes original articles on new knowledge and research or research application with current issues in Indonesian Psychology. All submitted manuscripts will be subjected to the peer review process following a thorough inspection by the editors. Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku publishes 5 -7 articles in each edition with 10 - 18 pages long for each article. One volume of Jurnal Ilmu Perilaku divided into two editions, which are published in the 1st and 2nd semester each year. Articles are written in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language) OR English. Abstracts must be in English. Publication in this journal is free of charge and all published papers are available online through open access.

This research aimed to examine correlation between child-parent attachement and social skills in adolescent. Social skill is one of important parts in adolescent development, because adolescents are trying to build relationship beyond the family. One of the factors affecting social skills development among adolescent is the quality of attachment between child and parent. Hypothesis in this research stated that there is a correlation between child-parent attachment and adolescent’s social skills. Participants in this research were 164 high school students in Denpasar. Instruments used in this research were Social Skills Scale (α = 0,831) and Indonesian translated version of Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (α = 0,941). The Result of this study showed positive correlation between the quality of child-parent attachment and adolescent’s social skills (r=0,323, p<0,05). This result reflected the significant effort to improve the quality of attachment between child and parents in adolescence, with the result that adolescent will build good social skills.

Nowadays, there are many married couples in Indonesia who have not unable to nurture their children effectively. This study aims at developing curriculum on child nurturing for young couples to optimize their children’s growth. The implementation of the research will be done in multiyear. In the first year, the focus will be on the needs assessment on young couples related to some important issues. The subjects of the research will be 132 parents aged up to 30 years old who have been married for up to 5 years. The place of the research will be in four districts in DIY with focus group discussion (FGD) method as the main instrument. The FGD will be applied with Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) method. Data analysis using thematic analysis. The results showed that the profile of the young couple's needs on parenting consisted of five aspects: (1) the nurturing dimension consisting of physical, cognitive, and affective dimensions; (2) self-centered, child-centered, and parent-child parenting goals; (3) forms of care in the form of demand, control, response, and acceptance; (4) framework which includes nuclear family and extended family; and (5) how to overcome both internal and external parenting barriers.

Abstract. Engagement in learning activities is important to get the knowledge and skills provided at school. Previous studies on engagement prove that engagement is a predictor of student learning, learning outcomes, student retention and graduation. Therefore, to be able to make students more engaged with learning activities, it is necessary to know the factors that can influence the engagement. In this study, we will examine the effect of fulfilling need for autonomy, competence and relatedness on behavioral and emotional engagement. Measurements were made by distributing questionnaires in the form of self-reports to respondents. Respondents from this study were 291 students of class VII and VIII MTs Jatinangor. The data analysis technique used is PLS-SEM, path analysis. The results showed that behavioral and emotional engagement were positively and significantly influenced by meeting the needs of competence and relatedness. Then it was also found that this engagement was influenced negatively and significantly by autonomy needs.

Abstrak. Dampak negatif dari perkembangan jaman dan modernisasi adalah melunturnya nilai-nilai luhur budaya. Salah satu bukti dari melunturnya nilai-nilai luhur budaya dapat dilihat dari banyaknya kasus bullying yang terjadi di lingkungan sekolah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan identifikasi dan asesmen perilaku bullying pada siswa SMP di Kota Yogyakarta. Variabel yang diteliti adalah perilaku bullying pada siswa SMP. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 107 siswa di SMP N Kota Yogyakarta. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah skala intensitas perilaku bullying, FGD, dan observasi. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah telah terjadi perilaku bullying pada siswa SMP di Kota Yogyakarta. Perilaku bullying yang terjadi antara lain verbal, non verbal, dan fisik. Perilaku bullying terjadi karena adanya dinamika antara pelaku, korban, dan lingkungan. Teman sebaya memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam terjadi perilaku bullying di sekolah. Teman sebaya yang negatif dapat menjadi pelaku maupun pendukung bullying, sedangkan teman sebaya yang positif dapat menjadi pembela korban maupun ujung tombak penanganan bullying di sekolah. Norma sosial di sekolah ditentukan oleh sikap teman sebaya terhadap bullying. Kata kunci: bullying, siswa SMP, teman sebaya

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pemaknaan pengasuhan yang dimiliki oleh ibu tunggal, serta faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi pengasuhan pada anak yang mengalami intellectual disability. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Partisipan utama penelitian berjumlah dua orang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam dan observasi. Pengujian kredibilitas penelitian menggunakan member checking, triangulasi sumber, dan deskripsi secara detail terkait partisipan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ibu tunggal yang mengasuh anak intellectual disability seorang diri, memaknai pengasuhan sebagai suatu titik balik kehidupan yang membantu ibu tunggal untuk menemukan kapasitas serta intensitas terbesar didalam diri mereka dalam menjalani kehidupan yang diperoleh melalui serangkaian perilaku yang bersifat evaluatif seperti refleksi diri, memahami kembali nilai hidup yang dimiliki dan menyadari otoritas dirinya dalam menjaga stabilitas keluarga dan pengasuan anak pasca ditinggal oleh suami. Selain itu, pandangan lingkungan sekitar terhadap kondisi anak juga dapat memunculkan pengaruh tertentu terhadap penerapan pengasuhan yang diberikan oleh ibu tunggal kepada anaknya.

Coffee consumption of Indonesian people tends to increase over the past few years. Coffee drinking activity now tends to be a lifestyle where someone can spend time having fun. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between personality traits and self-esteem with hedonistic lifestyle on Starbucks consumer in Jakarta. The participants in this study consisted of 390 students who had visited Starbucks. Research participants were asked to fill out the Big Five Inventory-10 (BFI-10) questionnaire and Rosenberg self-esteem scale questionnaire that had been adapted to Indonesian, as well as the scale of the hedonistic lifestyle. The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between self-esteem and hedonistic lifestyle, while conscientiousness personality traits had a significant positive relationship with the hedonistic lifestyle. This result explains that students can have a Hedonistic lifestyle when they do not have a positive assessment of themselves. The result of a significant positive relationship between conscientiousness personality and hedonistic lifestyle is in line with the results of previous studies which found a significant relationship between conscientiousness personality and caffeine consumption. Thus the tendency of coffee consumption based on the hedonism lifestyle is likely to be influenced by self-esteem and personality possessed.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dampak intervensi olahraga futsal yang didesain dengan prinsip psikologi positif: positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, dan accomplishment, yang biasa disingkat sebagai PERMA pada anak siswa sekolah dasar. Sejumlah 22 anak dari kelas I hingga kelas VI sekolah dasar berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Perlakuan olahraga futsal diberikan selama 2 jam per minggu di sore hari sepulang sekolah. Data mengenai PERMA sebelum dan sesudah mengikuti futsal selama 10 kali diperoleh dari pelatih dan guru kelas menggunakan teknik wawancara dan kuesioner. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor yang sangat signifikan setelah mengikuti kegiatan futsal positif pada semua faktor PERMA. Namun guru kelas dan pelatih tampak memiliki perspektif yang berbeda dalam melihat peningkatan anak. Menurut guru kelas, perubahan yang paling menonjol terletak pada emosi positif dan pemaknaan (meaning). Sedangkan menurut pelatih, perubahan yang paling menonjol pada anak terlihat dalam hal keterlibatan (engagement), pencapaian (accomplishment), dan pemaknaan (meaning). Hasil penelitian ini merekomendasikan kegiatan olahraga futsal positif untuk anak-anak siswa sekolah dasar, terutama yang mengalami problem emosi dan perilaku. Penelitian serupa pada anak perempuan maupun remaja perlu dilakukan.

Salah satu faktor yang mendorong remaja terlibat dalam perilaku anti-sosial adalah kekurangmampuan mereka dalam mengontrol perilaku (low behavioral selfcontrol). Dalam rangka mengurangi keterlibatan remaja dalam perilaku anti-sosial tersebut, penting diidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang dapat meningkatkan behavioral selfcontrol remaja. Ada banyak faktor yang diduga berpengaruh terhadap behavioral self control, antara lain adalah mindfulness. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk menguji sejauhmana pengaruh mindfulness terhadap behavioral self control. Jumlah subjek dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 243 orang siswa di salah satu sekolah yang ada di propinsi Jawa Barat. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan menggunakan regresi sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif mindfulness terhadap behavioral self control. Aspek behavioral self control yang paling terpengaruh oleh mindfulness adalah aspek becoming aware.

This research wants to find out whether there is a significant effect of writing techniques using own-name, as an intervention to reduce the level of depression. Subjects were young adults with moderate depression. Two interventions were carried out namely expressive writing and narrative self-distancing. The total of participants were 5, 2 participated in expressive writing interventions and 3 others participated in self-distancing narrative writing interventions. A single case-design experimental method and quantitative content analysis are used. The intervention process uses A-B-A design, where there are 3 phases, namely pre-intervention, intervention and follow-up which is carried out for 3 consecutive weeks. BDI-II as a baseline to measure the level of participant depression with a score between 0 - 63. The results showed that the level of participant depression measured by BDI-II from 3 participants who wrote narratives with self-distancing continued to decrease, 2 participants who wrote expressive writing showed inconsistent BDI-II results. The results of inter-rater validation using Cohen’s Kappa are at 0.759 - 0.844 which means very good. Content analysis shows that self-distancing narrative writing was relatively less in depressive sentences compared to participants in the expressive writing group.

Some people have a habit to listen to music while reading book. The genre and the tempo of the music that people listened to while reading the book may differ. This research is done specifically to understand whether slow tempo classical music may affect undergraduate students’ reading comprehension. This study is experimental research with randomized two-groups design, post-test only. The participants in this research consist of 78 undergraduate students that were divided into two groups, which are experimental group (38 participants) and control group (40 participants) with the age ranged 18-24 years old. The participants were divided into two groups using the randomization technique. The classical music used in this research was called Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy and used TKD-1R to measure reading comprehension. The result of this research showed that classical music, especially with the slow tempo, did not have a significant effect on reading comprehension. The result of this study supported previous research which argued that classical music, specifically slow tempo music, did not interfere with the participants. Therefore, reading activity while listening to music can be done simultaneously. Keywords: classical music, reading comprehension, undergraduate students, slow tempo
