Abstract

The existence of complex dynamics in the behavior of individuals in groups can explain the theoretical constructs of individual and group relations that continue to develop today. One of the developed theoretical contracts is the theory of identity fusion. This study aims to compile an identity fusion scale based on Gomez, Swann, Vazquez, Brooks, Buhrmester, & Jetten's verbal identity fusion scale in 2011. There are several processes for compiling a measuring instrument in this study. First, by conducting an open-ended questionnaire to find behavioral indicators that emerged. The second is to test the content validity using Aiken's V content validity coefficient value. Third, to test the construct validity by doing Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Fourth is to test the validity of the criteria by correlating the scale of identity fusion and social identity. Finally, the researcher estimated the reliability of the final item compilation. The results showed that 27 items could use to measure verbal identity fusion, with a Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.935. Based on the correlation results, there is a positive relationship between identity fusion and social identity. Although there are different perspectives in explaining individual behavior, the fusion of identity and social identity is a complementary and related construct.

Abstract

Abstract. Engagement in learning activities is important to get the knowledge and skills provided at school. Previous studies on engagement prove that engagement is a predictor of student learning, learning outcomes, student retention and graduation. Therefore, to be able to make students more engaged with learning activities, it is necessary to know the factors that can influence the engagement. In this study, we will examine the effect of fulfilling need for autonomy, competence and relatedness on behavioral and emotional engagement. Measurements were made by distributing questionnaires in the form of self-reports to respondents. Respondents from this study were 291 students of class VII and VIII MTs Jatinangor. The data analysis technique used is PLS-SEM, path analysis. The results showed that behavioral and emotional engagement were positively and significantly influenced by meeting the needs of competence and relatedness. Then it was also found that this engagement was influenced negatively and significantly by autonomy needs.

Abstract

Abstract

Technology and the internet can help students learn effectively. Improper use of online resources accessed for educational purposes can also hinder effective learning, as students need more participation and control. This training encourages students to participate in teaching and learning, even using internet-supported education facilities. The first part of the training was psychoeducation regarding the effectiveness of internet use among teenagers, and the second part was related to a short course regarding student engagement in learning activities. Psychoeducation uses the lecture method, and question-and-answer discussions with participants, and a short-course used the lecture method discussions in small groups of four to five students. The activity's outcomes included increases in participants' pre- and post-test knowledge of internet effectiveness (up from 51% of participants) and student involvement (up from 96.2% of participants). According to the paired sample t-test results, there was a noteworthy distinction between the short-course activities yielded pre-test and post-test scores with a p<.001. On the other hand, the outcomes of the psychoeducational activities pre- and post-test did not differ significantly, a p-value of 0.828. After completing this activity, students are expected to be focused on their academic work and possess the skills necessary to use the internet efficiently.

Abstract

This qualitative case study was conducted at a public university in Indonesia. Blended learning is an instructional approach that combines face-to-face meetings with online learning activities. Its effectiveness depends significantly on the appropriate integration of digital technologies, particularly during synchronous and asynchronous online sessions. This study explores university lecturers’ perspectives on the implementation of blended learning as experienced by students. Employing a qualitative research design, data were collected through open-ended questionnaires and focus group discussions (FGDs). The participants comprised 37 lecturers from Padang State University, with five of them participating in the FGDs. The findings revealed four dominant themes in lecturers’ perceptions: (1) technical challenges, (2) diminished social interaction between students and lecturers as well as among students, (3) instructional effectiveness, and (4) lecturers’ digital competence. A concise conceptual model shows that technical constraints directly reduce social interaction and instructional effectiveness, while lecturers’ digital competence can mitigate these effects through purposeful design and facilitation. The implications emphasize the need for structured institutional support, including reliable campus connectivity and learning management system uptime, a sequenced and sustained program of pedagogical upskilling for lecturers, and clear integration guidelines that align online components with course learning outcomes, so that blended learning is scalable and effective in developing country contexts with similar conditions. This study provides context rich evidence from Indonesia and contributes to the international literature on blended learning implementation.

Abstract

High School students are individuals who are entering their late adolescence. This adolescence is the stage where individuals decide to continue their education or enter the workforce. High school students should be able to prepare for the future well, and make decisions about their future careers. However, not all students can prepare well for their future career choices. This training aims to increase awareness of SMA PGRI 4 students regarding the importance of having a picture of the future, increase knowledge regarding what to do to plan for the future, information that must be had in planning for the future, and increase student knowledge regarding the importance of involvement in learning and strategies that can be used to be able to undergo the learning process more effectively. The number of participants who attended this training was 34 students, consisting of students in grades XI and XII (23 males; 11 females). The implementation of the training consisted of delivering material from the resource person, followed by small group mentoring activities. The results of the training showed that there were changes in students' attitudes and knowledge after participating in the training activities to prepare for the future (increasing from 83% of students). In addition, there were significant results in the posttest and pretest of training participants (with a significant value of p <,001). After the implementation of the training activities, it is expected that teachers and students can synergize in preparing students' future with more detailed, directed, and clearly measurable preparations.
