Abstract

This study examines the effect of frugal living on purchase decisions among Generation Z and investigates the mediating role of financial well-being in this relationship. As Generation Z faces increasing exposure to digital consumption trends and financial challenges, understanding the mechanisms that influence their purchasing behavior has become increasingly important. A quantitative research design was employed using a cross-sectional survey approach. Data were collected from 125 Generation Z respondents selected through purposive sampling and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that frugal living has a significant positive effect on financial well-being, while financial well-being significantly influences purchase decisions. However, the direct effect of frugal living on purchase decisions was not significant. Further analysis revealed that financial well-being fully mediates the relationship between frugal living and purchase decisions. These results suggest that frugal living contributes to more responsible purchasing behavior only when it enhances individuals’ financial security, confidence, and financial control. The study extends the literature on consumer behavior by highlighting financial well-being as a key explanatory mechanism linking lifestyle choices and purchasing decisions. Practically, the findings emphasize the importance of financial literacy and financial well-being initiatives in promoting responsible consumption among Generation Z consumers.

Abstract

Tax management has become an important issue for companies in maintaining financial performance while fulfilling their tax obligations. This study aims to analyze the effects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Firm Size, and Profitability (Return on Assets/ROA) on Tax Management in healthcare companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021–2024 period. This research employed a quantitative approach with a causal-comparative design and utilized secondary data obtained from annual reports and sustainability reports. The population consisted of 36 healthcare companies, while the sample was selected using a purposive sampling method, resulting in nine companies that met the specified criteria over a four-year observation period. The data were analyzed using panel data multiple regression analysis, supported by model selection tests, classical assumption tests, hypothesis testing, and coefficient of determination analysis. The findings reveal that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) does not have a significant effect on Tax Management. In contrast, Firm Size and Profitability (ROA) have a positive and significant effect on Tax Management. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) indicates that CSR, Firm Size, and Profitability explain 31% of the variation in Tax Management, while the remaining 69% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings suggest that company characteristics, particularly firm size and profitability, play a more substantial role in influencing tax management practices than CSR activities in healthcare companies.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in regional economic development, including in Muara Bulian District, Batang Hari Regency. This study aims to analyze the socioeconomic conditions of MSME actors, identify factors that influence income, and formulate strategies to increase income. The research uses a quantitative descriptive approach and verification method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 96 respondents selected using the Slovin formula. Data analysis techniques used include descriptive analysis, multiple linear regression, and SWOT analysis. The results showed that the socioeconomic conditions of MSME actors are dominated by productive age groups (30–49 years old), with the majority having higher education (Bachelor’s degree). Simultaneously and partially, variables of business capital, education level, number of family members, and labor have a positive and significant effect on income. Business capital is the most dominant influencing factor with a beta value of 0.533. Based on SWOT analysis, the position of MSMEs is in Quadrant I, which supports an aggressive strategy. The recommended strategies include increasing production capacity, optimizing digital marketing, and strengthening partnerships with government and financial institutions.

Abstract

The notary ordering process in banking credit services is still largely conducted manually through separate communication channels, such as telephone calls, instant messaging applications, and electronic mail. This condition may lead to delays in information delivery, difficulties in monitoring work progress, and less integrated document management, which can affect the effectiveness of credit administration and service quality. This study aims to design a web-based Notary Ordering Information System (SI-ON) to support the digitalization of credit administration services and potentially improve the quality of banking credit services. The research employed the Waterfall system development method, consisting of problem identification, literature review, data collection, system requirements analysis, system design, expert validation, and research report preparation. The system was designed using Unified Modeling Language (UML), Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD), and user interface design techniques. The results indicate that the SI-ON application was successfully designed with key features including notary order management, work status monitoring, digital document management, activity history tracking, and reporting. Expert validation results showed a feasibility score of 87.08%, categorized as very good. Furthermore, the credit administration support aspect achieved a score of 88.50%, while the service quality support aspect based on the SERVQUAL dimensions obtained a score of 87.00%. The findings suggest that the proposed web-based SI-ON application is feasible and has the potential to support the digitalization of notary ordering processes, improve the effectiveness of credit administration, and enhance the quality of banking credit services.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze participants’ perceptions of practicing intermittent fasting (IF) as a method for weight loss among individuals with obesity. A qualitative descriptive approach was used with a purposive sampling technique involving three participants with varying experiences: a beginner (two weeks), an intermediate participant (three months), and an experienced participant (ten years). Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically. The results show that beginners faced adaptation challenges such as hunger, fatigue, and mood changes, although they began to observe physical improvements. Intermediate participants experienced more stable benefits, including improved fitness, better eating control, and social support. Experienced participants perceived IF as a sustainable healthy lifestyle with positive impacts on both physical and mental health. In conclusion, IF is generally perceived positively, although the initial stage requires adaptation. It is recommended to provide guidance, maintain consistency, and integrate IF with physical activity and balanced nutrition for optimal results.

Abstract

The beauty industry increasingly employs co-branding strategies to strengthen brand positioning and attract consumer attention. One notable collaboration is Somethinc x Batman, which combines the identity of a beauty brand with a popular superhero franchise. Beyond its marketing function, this collaboration presents an interesting phenomenon regarding the representation of female masculinity through visual communication. This study aims to analyze the representation of female masculinity in the co-branding communication of Somethinc x Batman through a teaser video uploaded on the Instagram account @somethincmakeup. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with an interpretive paradigm and Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis. The data were analyzed through the stages of denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings to identify visual signs representing female masculinity. The findings reveal that the Somethinc x Batman campaign represents women as dominant, brave, independent, rational, and self-controlled figures through sharp gazes, upright body posture, aggressive gestures, dark visual tones, and the symbolic attributes of Catwoman. However, the representation of masculinity does not entirely eliminate femininity, as it remains intertwined with beauty and sensuality associated with the cosmetic industry. This study concludes that female masculinity in beauty media is constructed through a negotiation between masculine and feminine attributes within popular culture and co-branding communication practices.

Abstract

The 2024 Indonesian General Election witnessed a severe deliberative degradation within the digital public sphere, heavily distorted by affective polarization, information disorder, and algorithmic bias across mainstream social media. This study evaluates the political communication strategy of the independent civic technology platform @bijakmemilih.id in mitigating this structural crisis and restructuring cyber-discourses for young voters. Drawing upon Jürgen Habermas’s theory of deliberative democracy and Andrew Chadwick’s hybrid media system framework, a qualitative case study design was employed. Methodological triangulation was operationalized by integrating netnographic observations, in-depth interviews with key platform initiators, communication experts, and users, along with computational text mining via RapidMiner on substantive replies from key X (formerly Twitter) threads. The results demonstrate that @bijakmemilih.id successfully orchestrated a two-tiered communication strategy, functionalizing platform X as a fast-paced horizontal distribution channel for agenda-setting, while maintaining the official website as a deeply anchored vertical data repository. Interactivity emerged as the absolute dominant indicator in public discourse (31.7%), successfully transforming passive youth consumption into proactive communicative action through debate propositions and structural recommendations. Inclusivity (25.9%) was strategically achieved by deploying issue-based interactive features that effectively deconstructed embedded partisan tribalism. Accessibility (21.7%) developed independently via organic digital word-of-mouth distribution channels. Although rationality (20.6%) registered the lowest quantitative frequency, it generated the highest substantive conversational weight, utilizing objective track records as a crucial cognitive literacy shield against the manipulation of cyber troops. This study concludes that non-partisan, data-driven civic tech initiatives can effectively facilitate a healthy, inclusive, and rational deliberative digital public sphere amidst heavily commercialized media ecosystems.
