Abstract

This study seeks to investigate the impact of future aspirations, discretionary income, and Islamic financial practices on the embrace of a halal lifestyle among university students in Medan City. This study employs a quantitative technique with an associative research design. The sample consisted of 100 respondents, determined using the Slovin formula, with purposive sampling being the applied method. Data were collected through questionnaires and processed using multiple linear regression with SPSS software. The findings indicate that future ambitions, discretionary income, and Islamic financial practices have a favourable and significant impact on the adoption of a halal lifestyle. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.499 signifies that 49.9% of the variance in halal lifestyle is explained by the three independent variables in the model, while the remaining 50.1% is influenced by external factors not included in this study. The findings indicate that the halal lifestyle among university students in Medan City can be reinforced by fostering positive future expectations, managing pocket money effectively, and adopting Islamic financial behaviours consistent with Islamic principles. Consequently, a halal lifestyle reflects students’ awareness in applying sharia principles in both economic activities and daily life practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the business model of Bakso Urat Juara Bandar Khalifah MSME using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach, examine the existing value proposition in shaping brand identity and customer experience, and formulate more effective business model development strategies. The study employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews involving the business owner, business partners, and customers. The findings reveal that the existing business model has incorporated the nine elements of the Business Model Canvas. However, its implementation remains relatively simple and has not been optimally integrated. In terms of value proposition, the business predominantly emphasizes functional values, such as product quality and affordable pricing, while emotional and visual aspects, particularly outlet design, have not been maximized. This condition contributes to a weaker brand identity and less distinctive customer experience. Several development strategies are therefore proposed, including outlet design standardization, product innovation, and service quality enhancement. Consequently, business model development should not merely focus on increasing sales performance, but also on creating sustainable value and strengthening business competitiveness. These insights contribute for small food vendors to move beyond basic survival and focus on creating memorable brand spaces that secure long-term market loyalty.

Abstract

Legal education plays a strategic role in shaping a competent and just legal profession. However, the main challenge in Indonesia is the gap between graduates’ theoretical knowledge and practical readiness. This article analyzes the role of legal laboratory learning in addressing this challenge, while also exploring the relevance of integrating local wisdom into the process. This study employs a normative legal methodology with a legislative and conceptual approach, supported by empirical data from the Law Faculty Laboratory at Pasundan University and BANI Bandung, demonstrating that laboratory-based learning plays a crucial role in internalizing professional competencies. Through the laboratory, practical skills, professional ethics, and social sensitivity can be developed in an integrated manner. The integration of local wisdom has proven relevant for shaping legal professionals who are contextually grounded and responsive to the values of justice that are alive in society. Thus, strengthening local wisdom-based legal laboratory learning is an essential prerequisite for realizing legal professional education that is not only professional but also oriented toward social justice. This study demonstrates that integrating structurally embedded laboratory learning with local wisdom effectively prepares law graduates for modern practice. By bridging conceptual theory and empirical reality, this pedagogical model equips future legal professionals with crucial dispute resolution skills and acute social empathy.

Abstract

Food security has increasingly become an important issue in International Relations, particularly within non-traditional security studies. This article aims to rethink the concept of food security by examining the relationship between famine, vulnerability, and conflict in Somalia. Traditionally, understood as a humanitarian and development issue, contemporary global challenges such as armed conflict, political instability, climate change, and economic inequality demonstrate that food insecurity also constitutes a significant international security concern. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and literature-based analysis, this study explores how chronic famine in Somalia reflects the interconnectedness between food insecurity, state fragility, human vulnerability, and violent conflict. This study focuses on the 2020 and 2024 period, particularly covering the 2011 famine. To ensure the empirical reliability, the analysis relies on reports and datasets from key international institutions, including UN, FAO, WFP, IPC, the World Bank, and relevant scholarly publications. The findings reveal that famine in Somalia is not solely caused by natural factors such as drought, but is also deeply influenced by prolonged political instability, armed conflict, weak governance, and unequal access to resources. Furthermore, food insecurity contributes to social instability, displacement, humanitarian crises, and the expansion of extremist groups, thereby threatening both national and regional security. This article argues that food security must be viewed as a multidimensional security issue linked to international stability. By using Somalia as a critical empirical case, this study contributes to the broader discussion on non-traditional security and offers a deeper conceptual understanding of food security within International Relations studies.

Abstract

Recent technological advances have significantly transformed audit processes and challenged traditional notions of audit quality. This study integrates these areas by analyzing audit quality in digital environments through technological, institutional, and communication lenses. To investigate these interconnected topics, this study used a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA 2020 framework and the Theory–Context–Characteristics–Methodology (TCCM) approach. A search of the Scopus database returned 511 records initially. After identification, screening, eligibility checks, and inclusion, 53 articles were selected for qualitative synthesis and thematic analysis.Building on this review, the results show that research on audit quality is changing in important ways.. Digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and digital audit systems affect not only how audits are conducted but also how information is shared and how institutions operate. The review also finds that digital transformation, governance, KAM disclosure, and audit communication are increasingly interconnected. Still, the field is fragmented, especially in theory and research methods. There is also a heavy focus on quantitative methods, and audit quality often depends on the specific institutional context. In light of these findings, this review offers a new perspective on audit quality, viewing it as a complex concept shaped by both technology and institutions. Future research could draw on broader theoretical frameworks and a mix of methods to better understand the challenges of auditing in digital settings.

Abstract

The 2025 budget efficiency policy implemented by the Indonesian government through Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 has influenced regional financial management, including the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Riau Islands Province. This study aims to analyze the budget efficiency policy in supporting BPBD performance and examine its impact on disaster preparedness and emergency response capacity. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, documentation, and literature studies. The analytical framework used William N. Dunn’s policy analysis theory, consisting of problem structuring, forecasting policy outcomes, policy recommendation, monitoring policy outcomes, and policy evaluation. The findings indicate that the budget efficiency policy successfully reduced regional expenditures; however, it also affected operational spending, logistics readiness, and disaster response capacity. Budget reductions in goods and services expenditure and capital expenditure limited BPBD’s operational effectiveness in disaster management. The efficiency policy was more focused on expenditure reduction rather than optimizing disaster management priorities. Consequently, disaster preparedness, logistics availability, and institutional capacity experienced significant constraints. This study recommends the implementation of performance-based budgeting, disaster risk-based budget prioritization, and stronger inter-agency coordination to improve disaster management governance in Riau Islands Province

Abstract

This study aims to analyze collaborative governance in the development of the creative economy sector in Kepulauan Anambas Regency. The research uses the collaborative governance model of Ansell and Gash (2008) which focuses on initial conditions, institutional design, facilitative leadership, collaborative processes, and interim outcomes. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with informants from local governments, creative business actors, cooperatives, communities/non-governmental organizations, and private companies. The results of the study show that collaborative governance in the development of the creative economy begins to take shape through the involvement of various stakeholders across sectors. However, the collaboration process has not run optimally due to limited infrastructure, human resources, and budget. The institutional design aspect is still weak because there are no regulations and forums that support collaboration. Facilitative leadership and collaborative processes are still dominated by informal relationships and individual initiative of actors. Nevertheless, the collaboration has produced an initial positive impact in the form of increasing the number of business legalities, strengthening the capacity of business actors, expanding the promotion of local products, and growing the community's economy. This research implies the importance of institutional strengthening, the establishment of structured and formal collaboration mechanisms, and increasing stakeholder participation to realize the development of a sustainable and inclusive creative economy, especially in Kepulauan Anambas Regency.

Abstract

The US-China trade war, which escalated significantly from 2018 and entered a new critical phase in 2025, has generated widespread implications for developing economies, including Indonesia. This study conducts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA 2020 protocol to synthesize evidence on the trade war impact on Indonesia export performance and FDI inflows during 2018-2026. From 312 Scopus-indexed documents, 45 articles met inclusion criteria (Q1-Q3 Scimago, all open access with verified DOIs). Thematic synthesis identified three dominant clusters: (1) export performance and trade diversion effects, (2) FDI and supply chain relocation dynamics, and (3) macroeconomic transmission mechanisms. Findings reveal ambivalent effects - negative pressure on primary commodity exports alongside positive investment diversion benefits - yet studies integrating both the pandemic and the 2025 tariff escalation remain sparse. Six research gaps are identified and a future research agenda is proposed.
