Abstract

Environmental literacy and environmental problem-solving ability are two essential competencies students need in order to address Indonesia’s growing environmental problems. This study aims to analyze the level of environmental literacy, the level of environmental problem-solving ability, and the relationship between the two among students of SMA Negeri 8 Semarang, a provincial Adiwiyata school operating under both Kurikulum Merdeka and the 2013 Curriculum. A quantitative correlational approach was used with a sample of 91 students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling from a population of 1,074 students. Data were collected through a multiple-choice test, a questionnaire, and observation, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson product-moment correlation after the normality and linearity assumptions were satisfied. The findings indicate moderate levels of both environmental literacy and problem-solving capacity among students. Correlation analysis revealed a statistically significant, moderately strong positive relationship, proving that literacy meaningfully drives variations in problem-solving skills. Strengthening environmental literacy can thus enhance students' problem-solving capabilities, complemented by hands-on experiences such as project-based learning. This study contributes to environmental education literature by demonstrating how green school frameworks foster functional competencies across concurrent curricula. Practically, it recommends consistently integrating project-based environmental learning across all grade levels to ensure cohesive skill development.

Abstract

Village development in Indonesia depends not only on material assistance but also on the quality of social relationships that enable residents to cooperate and access external resources. This qualitative case study examines how the community of Sukarame Village, Tasikmalaya Regency, utilizes social capital (bonding, bridging, and linking) to support rural community development. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document review involving 17 participants from agricultural and non-agricultural livelihoods, village institutions, and community leadership. The data were analyzed thematically using source and technique triangulation. Findings show that bonding social capital, rooted in kinship, religious gatherings, and the pipiti communal fund, provides social solidarity. Bridging social capital manifests through business networks spanning embroidery, sequin work, vehicle repair, inland fish farming, tofu-tempeh production, livestock, and external marketing. Linking social capital develops through cooperation among residents, village government, technical agencies, banks, and social programs, while local institutions serve as operational spaces where these assets are practiced and sustained. The novelty of this study demonstrates how rural communities actively convert interdependent social capital into productive use, expanding both livelihoods and institutional access. Ultimately, rural community development is most effective when government programs reinforce, rather than replace, existing social capital for sustainable empowerment.

Abstract

Recycling is an important component of sustainable waste management, yet in many organizational settings it remains a voluntary practice rather than an established operational requirement. This study examines company recycling practices in Bali and identifies organizational and policy factors that may support recycling as a routine practice. Using a descriptive survey design, data were collected from 37 respondents associated with company-related environments in Bali, including employees, business owners, customers, students, parents, and other stakeholders. The questionnaire examined current recycling practices, perceived company responsibility, awareness of local recycling programs, barriers, support needs, and willingness to support company recycling policies. The findings show strong normative support for recycling: 81.1% of respondents believed that companies have a responsibility to recycle, and 94.6% considered recycling very important for the environment. However, recycling was not yet consistently institutionalized. A total of 40.5% reported that recycling was practiced in their company-related setting, while another 40.5% reported that it was practiced only sometimes. The main barrier was limited access to nearby recycling facilities, identified by 45.9% of respondents. Respondents also emphasized the need for practical support, with 54.1% identifying free or easier access to recycling facilities as an important enabling factor. The study concludes that company recycling in Bali requires more than environmental awareness. The study contributes to organizational sustainability research by clarifying how normative support, operational capacity, and external policy support interact in shaping company recycling practices.

Abstract

The competition growth in Indonesia’s internet service provider industry has given consumers a wide range of provider options, thereby increasing the potential for brand switching. This study aims to analyze the influence of service quality, product variety, and price perception on brand switching among IndiHome providers in Surabaya. This study employs a quantitative approach using the explanatory research method. The sampling technique utilized purposive sampling, with a sample size of 115 respondents who had previously used IndiHome and switched providers. Data collection was conducted through the distribution of questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results indicate that service quality has a non-significant negative effect on brand switching, while product variety and price perception have significant positive effects on brand switching among IndiHome customers in Surabaya. The findings imply that internet service providers should prioritize competitive pricing and diverse product offerings to reduce customer switching. In addition, improving service quality alone may not be sufficient to retain customers, suggesting the need for a more comprehensive customer retention strategy.

Abstract

The rise of social commerce platforms that integrate short-form video creates a more engaging shopping experience, which can influence consumer purchasing behavior. This study aims to analyze the influence of short-form video on impulse buying, with emotional arousal as a mediator and fear of missing out (FOMO) as a moderator, among Generation Z TikTok users in Indonesia. The study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method with 140 respondents and is analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that short-form videos have a positive and significant effect on emotional arousal with a coefficient of 0.712 and a p-value of 0.000, emotional arousal has a positive and significant effect on impulse buying with a coefficient of 0.156 and a p-value of 0.021, and emotional arousal mediates the effect of short-form videos on impulse buying with a coefficient of 0.111 and a p-value of 0.020. Furthermore, FOMO was found to positively moderate the relationship between emotional arousal and impulse buying with a coefficient of 0.082 and a p-value of 0.043. These findings indicate that emotional responses and FOMO play a significant role in explaining impulsive buying behavior on short-form video-based social commerce platforms.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze landslide phenomena, identify forms of local wisdom, and examine community adaptation strategies in coping with ground movement. The novelty of this study lies in the development of an integrated understanding of how local wisdom operates as a community adaptation system by linking empirical environmental knowledge, social values, and collective practices with anticipatory, responsive, and transformative adaptation strategies. A qualitative descriptive case study approach was employed involving 15 participants, including affected residents, village officials, and community leaders selected through the triangulation technique. Data were collected through field observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through source, technique, and time triangulation, while data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that landslide events have occurred progressively since 2019, primarily triggered by prolonged heavy rainfall, causing damage to settlements, public facilities, and infrastructure, while increasing community vulnerability. Local wisdom is reflected in empirical environmental knowledge, mutual cooperation, reforestation practices, drainage maintenance, and compliance with village regulations. These elements collectively support anticipatory, responsive, and transformative adaptation strategies that enhance community resilience to landslide hazards. This study extends the disaster risk reduction literature by demonstrating that local wisdom is not merely a cultural asset but an integrated community-based adaptation system that can serve as a practical reference for strengthening resilience and informing sustainable landslide disaster mitigation policies.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of remuneration, work environment, and workload on organizational commitment and employee performance at Pondok Pesantren Islam (PPI) Ulul Albab, South Lampung, Indonesia. An explanatory quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. Data were collected using a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire from 69 permanent employees (a 71.8% response rate out of a population of 96, obtained through total sampling) and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.1.1.8. Hypothesis testing shows that work environment has a positive and highly significant effect on both organizational commitment and employee performance. Remuneration significantly strengthens organizational commitment but has no significant effect on performance. Workload shows no significant effect on organizational commitment, yet has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, contrary to the initially hypothesized direction. The model explains 73.2% of variance in organizational commitment (strong) and 32.6% in employee performance (moderate). Within a religiously grounded pesantren work ecosystem, a socially and spiritually conducive work environment is the primary driver of commitment and productivity. Remuneration reinforces emotional attachment, while workload, reframed as religious trust, functions as a productive challenge. These findings offer strategic implications for designing holistic human resource policies aligned with Islamic values.

Abstract

Village governance requires an integrated governance model to strengthen the quality of public administration and ensure sustainable rural development. This study aims to formulate an Integrative Village Governance Model Based on Effectiveness and Transparency that can enhance the performance and accountability of village governance. A qualitative exploratory approach was employed through in-depth interviews with 12 key informants, supported by document analysis and Reflexive Thematic Analysis to identify the core dimensions shaping effective village governance. The findings indicate that transparency serves as the foundation for building public trust, encouraging community participation, strengthening social oversight, improving accountability, and enhancing governance effectiveness. These governance outcomes are reinforced by several supporting factors, including human resource capacity, leadership, institutional coordination, regulatory support, adequate funding, infrastructure, and digitalization. Based on these findings, the study proposes an Integrative Village Governance Model that systematically links these dimensions to improve governance performance. The model contributes to the development of village governance theory by integrating effectiveness and transparency into a comprehensive governance framework. Practically, it provides guidance for village governments and policymakers in designing governance strategies that are more transparent, participatory, accountable, and sustainable

Abstract

This paper investigates how human resource management strategically functions to elevate corporate productivity within the service sector, specifically by analyzing the impact exerted by career advancement programs and retention schemes on workforce output at PT Swadharma Sarana Informatika (SSI) Medan. Addressing prior empirical discrepancies concerning labor productivity, the present investigation contributes novelty through the amalgamation of these dual dimensions into a unified analytical paradigm. Utilizing a quantitative causal-associative framework, the research derived its participant quota via the Slovin formula, employing SPSS software to execute multiple linear regression and hypothesis validation. Empirical outcomes demonstrate that career development exerts a favorable and statistically meaningful influence on productivity levels, with employee retention manifesting as the paramount determinant governing work output. Furthermore, both independent factors collectively explain 43.8% of the variability observed in employee productivity within the organization. Despite structural limitations confined to a single corporate entity, these insights yield critical managerial directives, emphasizing that harmonizing professional growth pathways with resilient retention frameworks remains vital for maintaining optimal work performance.
