Abstract

Surakarta is the heart of Javanese culture; hence the people of Surakarta are closely connected to artistic activities. There are various types of arts, one of which is performing arts. The many performances held in Surakarta are one of the city government's efforts to meet the needs of its people. One of the many performances is the Solo Blues Festival, which started in 2013, and every year the enthusiasm for the Solo Blues Festival increases. The event's success was also due to the role of the blues community in Surakarta. They are involved in the Solo Blues Festival and have a fixed agenda to perform and introduce blues music to the public. However, in Surakarta, there is not yet a specific place regarding blues music to serve as a place for activists and fans of blues music to get to know blues music more deeply. Community members are still constrained to introduce blues music to the public if they only rely on the concerts they organize. Based on the problems that occur, one solution to overcome them is to design a place specifically for blues music, namely Omah Blues. The interior design of Omah Blues in Surakarta will function as a place for blues music to continue to exist and develop in Surakarta. It is hoped that Omah Blues can also represent how blues music exists and develops in society, especially among the people of Surakarta City. The interior design of Omah Blues in Surakarta will apply an art deco style combined with the kawung batik motif as a design idea. The choice of art deco was due to the rapid development of blues music in harmony with the development of the art deco style. The choice of the kawung motif as the design idea is because the kawung motif is geometric, which is in line with art deco characteristics, as well as to bring out Javanese cultural identity.Kata Kunci : Interior, Blues, Art Deco, Kawung.

Abstract

Batik’s recognition as a world heritage by UNESCO has given a positive impetus to the batik industry. The encouragement, however, has yet to reach the batik canting cap (stamp) home industry, which is a supporting sector of stamped batik. Knowledge and expertise in making canting stamps are difficult to transfer to the next generation because the economic value is not promising. The raw material of the canting stamp, namely copper metal, has unique characteristics. In terms of visual appearance, the canting stamp has an aesthetic value for the interior. An experimental method is used in the research to produce interior material prototypes that are suitable for market conditions. The making of an interior elements model as a prototype reference uses computer programs and tools for design, which are known as computer-aided design (CAD) to reduce costs because it can provide a photorealistic visualization. The outcome is expected to encourage the growth of the canting stamp batik home industry, hence its economic value will increase. The ultimate goal is to increase employment by pushing canting stamp batik quantity production due to the demand for interior materials then will open up opportunities to regenerate the skills to make canting stamp batik.

Abstract

There are many ways to raise office employee quality. Innovating desk chair facilities to meet the demands of working methods is one of the things that can be pursued. It has been established that the working style of the employees—the majority of whom are young people—requires a productive and exciting work environment to increase the quality of work. Various approaches have been investigated to achieve the design planning of office work facilities, from recommending the design of desk chair facilities following furniture ergonomics to establishing layouts in rooms that match the characteristics of the office atmosphere. Unfortunately, interior designers frequently overlook something equally important to consider, namely the requirement that the design of seating areas related to the desks and chairs used by office workers in daily activities be adjusted to the office branding characteristics and the psychological state of the workers in the space. This study aims to give relevant parties suggestions for appropriate working desks and seating areas to carry out activities using modular furniture. A descriptive qualitative research methodology is employed. Redpot Indonesia, an integrated promotional marketing firm that offers innovative promotional products and design services, is where the research is being conducted. This study aims to develop workspaces and workstations that accommodate employees' desires for social interaction and cooperative learning while facilitating productive work environments. Literature reviews, observational studies, and interviews are the data-collecting methods employed.
