Abstract

During this time, the handling of LBW infants in the form of incubator care requires a high cost, while the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) has not been able to reach the standard of increase. H-HOPE plus kinesthetic can help parents to care for their baby at home after returning from hospital care. ST36 and SP6 acupressure an essential role in stimulating the production of hormones that affect the absorption of nutrients so that optimal infant growth can be achieved. The study aimed to increase LBW infants' weight using the H-HOPE plus kinesthetic with ST36 and SP6 acupuncture. A randomized control trial (RCT) was applied in this study. We involved 30 LBW infants and divided them into two groups, including the experimental and control groups. The intervention group received the H-HOPE plus Kinesthetic method with acupressure ST36 SP6 for 14 days in 2x/15 minutes/day and KMC 1 hour/day and 15 infants, whereas the control group received the KMC for 14 days in 1 hour/day. The results showed that patients in the experimental group showed increasing the bodyweight within 14 days; approximately 629.33 grams showed p=0.001, meaning that the increase reached the standard of average increase (420 grams). The H-HOPE plus Kinesthetic method with acupressure ST 36 and SP 6 effectively increased LBW infants' weight Keywords : H-HOPE plus Kinesthetic, acupressure, weight, LBW infants.

Abstract

Stroke is the main trigger that can cause disability in adults. Stroke patients are known to be vulnerable to oral health problems, such as periodontal disease, due to limitations in their daily activities so that dental and oral hygiene management is neglected. These dental and oral health problems can become worse when patients are treated in a stroke unit. For this reason, dental and oral health care needs to be taken in stroke patients. The study aimed to develop a model of dental and oral health care among stroke patients. Research and Development (R&D), on five research stages, namely: information gathering, product/model design, expert validation and revision, product/model trials (using quasi-experiments with pretest and posttest with control group design). The sample was divided into two groups, the dental and oral health care model in stroke patients in the intervention group and the oral health care model No.284 year 2006 in the control group. Data were tested using normality, paired t-test, post hoc LSD, Mann Whitney, and linear regression. The model of dental and oral health care in stroke patients was relevant as dental and oral health care was shown to be p <0.001. The application of dental and oral health care models in stroke patients effectively improves the skills of gargling in moderate stroke patients p <0.001, increasing the ability to brush teeth in moderate stroke patients p <0.001. The application of dental and oral health care models in stroke patients is useful as an increase in the skills to rinse and brush teeth in moderate stroke patients

Abstract

Anemia is one of the health problems in Indonesia.  It was due to the suboptimal absorption of Fe and increased body acidity. Alkaline water is an alternative to improve hemoglobin levels since it can maximize the absorption of iron and balance the body's acid-base. The study aimed to examine the combination of alkaline water and iron tablets on Increasing the hemoglobin levels. A quasi-experimental study method with pre-test and post-test study with control group design. Forty-two samples were assigned to the intervention group and the control group. The intervention group received a combination of alkaline water with a pH of 9.5 as much as 1 liter and 60 mg iron tablets for 14 days. The control group received 60 mg of iron tablets. The assessment of hemoglobin levels was conducted before and after treatment. The results showed that the combination of alkaline water and iron tablets positively affected the Hb level among adolescents. The results showed that the variety of alkaline water and iron tablets positively affected adolescents' Hb levels. The alkaline water can be proposed as an innovation to increase hemoglobin levels. Further studies are expected to control the socio-cultural factor and food factor. Future researchers can develop studies related to alkaline water by adding other variables, namely blood pH and Malondialdehyde (MDA)

Abstract

Chronic kidney failure is a public health problem throughout the world, and the number of sufferers is increasing. Chronic kidney failure can cause clinical symptoms in various body systems, one of which is a disorder in the skin that becomes dry (uremic). This study aimed to examine the effect of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) on the skin moisture among uremic patients undergoing hemodialysis. This type of research is a quasi-experiment with pre-test and post-test equivalent control group. The study was conducted at the Regional General Hospital, Dr. RM. Djoelham Binjai. The study population was 80 people, divided into 2 sample groups of 40 people each. The results showed that there was a significant effect of skin moisture on the intervention group before and after being given Virgin Coconut Oil, p = 0.000<0.05; There was a significant effect of skin moisture in the control group before and after lotion (post-test), p = 0.000<0.05. There is no need for special emulsions such as VCO to moisturize the skin in uremic patients undergoing hemodialysis because using ordinary lotions can moisturize the skin. It must be used regularly, twice a day after bathing. The lotion used must also be a lotion that does not contain mercury and chemicals that can harm the skin. To increase the skin's moisture becomes normal, giving lotion is better than VCO because by providing lotion, more skin becomes normal, while using VCO, the skin becomes more oily. It is recommended to health workers (doctors, nurses) to practice correctly and appropriately how to administer Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) to uremic patients undergoing hemodialysis to be done at home
