Abstract

This study combines growth center theory, basic sector concept, and shift-share analysis to evaluate the impact of the establishment of the National Activity Center (PKN) of Surakarta and its surroundings on the Subosukawonosraten Development Area. The results show that the policy of determining the national activity center in the city area tends to increase economic growth, however, the hierarchical structure of the national urban system must be considered. The application of Functional Urban Area (FUA) emerges as a solution to support economic growth and sustainability, with infrastructure being the key driver. The analysis of basic economic sectors shows that the policy of establishing PKN Surakarta affects the growth of the industrial sector, especially in the area around Subosukawonosraten. Surakarta City becomes the center of service sector activities, while the surrounding areas develop in the industrial sector. The result also differentiates the development of economic base between the areas designated as Regional City Center (PKW) and Local City Center (PKL).

Abstract

This article examines the projection of Gorontalo Province's financial performance in the context of the decentralization of the Indonesian government that has been going on since 1999. Although decentralization provides greater autonomy in the management of resources and public services, Gorontalo Province still faces significant challenges in optimizing Regional Original Revenue (PAD) and a high dependence on fund transfers from the central government. Using a quantitative approach and descriptive methods, this study analyzes secondary data from the Gorontalo Governor's Accountability Report (LKPJ) for the 2019-2023 period. The analysis was carried out using three financial ratios – effectiveness, efficiency, and regional independence – which were then projected for the 2024-2033 period using linear trend analysis. The projection results show interesting dynamics: a decrease in the effectiveness ratio from 99.50% to 39.71%, an increase in efficiency from the status of "Less Efficient" (94.71%) to "Efficient" (78.11%), and the strengthening of regional independence from the category of "Low" (41.68%) to "Medium" (66.60%). These findings indicate serious challenges in achieving revenue targets, but also show the potential for improvement in expenditure management and regional independence. This research makes an important contribution to the long-term understanding of regional financial performance and suggests the need for further research that takes into account external factors such as national policy changes, global economic dynamics, and potential economic shocks.

Abstract

East Java Province is one of the provinces with a significant contribution to rice production in Indonesia. However, rice production in East Java experienced significant fluctuations from 2007 to 2020, with a noticeable decline from 2020 to 2021. This study aims to analyze the influence of climatic and non-climatic factors on rice production in East Java, using Time Series data from 1992 to 2023. The variables analyzed include rice harvest area, maximum annual temperature, minimum annual temperature, average temperature, and annual rainfall. The method used in this study is ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag), which allows estimation of long-run and short-run cointegration relationships among the variables analyzed. The results show that the variable of harvest area has a positive influence on rice production in East Java, both in the short and long term. In addition, the variables of minimum temperature, maximum temperature, average temperature, and rainfall show a positive influence, but only in the long run. These findings indicate that both climatic and non-climatic factors play an important role in determining rice production in East Java. Therefore, managing the roles of the government and the community could be the key to increasing rice production in the future, while facing the challenges of increasingly dynamic climate change.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of GDP factors according to Business Fields that affect the economic growth rate of Bojonegoro and Blora Regencies. This study uses secondary and primary data. This study uses secondary data, namely Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) by Business Field on the basis of Constant Prices for the 2013-2023 Base Year, GDP, Secondary data sourced from BPS (Central Statistics Agency) of Bojonegoro and Blora Regencies. Data was obtained by documentation method. The data was processed using the Pearson Correlation Analysis technique using SPSS 20 to determine the strong or weak relationship between the 17 variables of the business sector (X) and the GDP variable (Y) of Bojonegoro and Blora Regencies.  Overall, Blora Regency shows a better growth rate, citing stronger economic diversification and sectoral stability than Bojonegoro Regency. This puts Blora in a better position to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth in the long term. In 2022, Blora Regency's GDP (based on constant prices in 2010) grew by 2.68% overall. If the fluctuating contribution of the oil and gas sector is excluded, Blora's economic growth will reach 5.95%, which indicates healthier economic diversification. On the other hand, although Bojonegoro Regency's GDP was recorded to be larger in nominal terms, namely IDR 97.52 trillion in 2023, its economic growth only reached 2.47% overall, with the growth of the non-oil and gas sector at 5.17%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing labor absorption in four ASEAN countries—Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines—during the period 2014–2023. The variables used include the Global Innovation Index (GII), Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER), minimum wage, and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). The research method used is a quantitative approach with panel data regression analysis using a fixed effects model. The results show that the Global Innovation Index has a significant negative effect on labor absorption, indicating that increased innovation and technology can reduce the demand for traditional labor. Conversely, the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) and minimum wage have a significant positive effect, indicating that increased educational participation can improve the quality of human resources and expand employment opportunities. Meanwhile, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has no significant effect on labor absorption in ASEAN-4 countries. This study emphasizes the importance of improving the quality of education and digital skills of the workforce so that innovation and investment can drive more inclusive and sustainable job creation in the ASEAN-4 region.
